Waterloo for the National Popular Vote movement?

Original Article

Posted By: PageTurner, 6/10/2019 3:35:53 PM

AT readers don’t need to be introduced to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, the desperation measure concocted by the Democrats in an effort to make an end run around the Electoral College by pledging states to abide by the popular vote. Fourteen states, along with D.C., have so far passed the compact. One curious provision is that the compact does not go into effect until the number of electoral votes involved reaches 270 – a simple majority which would guarantee a candidate’s victory. The number of electoral votes controlled as of now is 189 – clearly, the promoters have been concentrating on large jurisdictions.

Comments:

Hideous idea. Hope it's gone for good.

Obviously a conspiracy to overthrow our system of government by importing voters through open borders, then elect presidents through the popular vote. Everyone knows it, just as we all knew the demoncrat communists where working with Russia from the beginning. The media and politicians all pretended it was just a "conspiracy theory" and ridiculed those who exposed it, such as McCarthy. These leftists are traitors and should be treated as such. Sanctuary cities, open borders, the popular vote, and violent leftist protests in our streets are all tactics to overthrow our government and rule over us.

Ditto #1 and #2. Article 10 (NOT the 10th amendment) says that individual states within the union CAN NOT enter into agreements between themselves without federal approval. Think the Confederacy. We had kind of a war over that one. This BS will not last 10 seconds in the supreme court if they actually try to implement it. It's something for the talking heads to say to the relatively LOW info voters and sound smart.

From what has been going on, there is little doubt that the leftist and liberal Democrats are out to flood the USA as much as possible with foreigners, both illegally and legally, especially poor, uneducated, and socialist oriented illegal aliens from undeveloped countries who once in the USA will gravitate to immigrant and low income communities that regularly vote for the liberal Democrat socialists. Once those illegal aliens are in those communities they will be counted in the 2020 Federal Census that has a great influence on how future congressional districts are drawn. When the census counts huge numbers of illegal aliens they are included in the total population figures of a State which determines how many congressional seats each State is allocated. Since the communities where the illegal aliens are sojourning have population totals that are greatly padded by the numbers of illegal aliens counted, the padded population figures result in additional congressional seats being reapportioned to those communities and States from other areas of the country with stable population figures consisting of US citizens. That means US citizens are essentially being disenfranchised of their congressional seats just by the massive numbers of illegal aliens in the country who will be counted in the census. When that happens, it makes it much easier for Democrat socialist candidates to win elections in those new congressional districts with low vote counts since aliens are not qualified to vote in US elections. In addition, the Electoral College votes are allocated to each State based upon the numbers of US Senators (2) plus one additional vote for each Congressional District located within each State. So when additional congressional seats are reapportioned to particular States based upon census figures relating to huge numbers of illegal alien. Those States are automatically granted additional Electoral College votes to correspond with the additional number of congressional seats they have received. Clearly the Democrats have all that figured out and are taking due political advantage, while the wimpy Congressional Republicans only care about facilitating as much cheap foreign labor into the USA as possible, thus raising up business profits, and further enriching the international business class.

The Democrat-led House has been notoriously do-nothing about anything other than attempting to impeach President Trump. No budget, no promised infrastructure bills, no health care reforms, not even an explicit condemnation of anti-Semitism, and shamed by socialist-led Mexico for doing zero about a massive migrant surge pouring over our southern border. Actually, on that front, less than zero, given that they passed a bill to incentivize additional illegal immigration. A real bright bunch, and quite likely to be thrown out come 2020, given such a record reflected in their 20% approval rating.

It’s been a full year since the FCC repealed “net neutrality.” And how have the predictions of doom and gloom held up? In the short time these Obama-imposed rules were in effect, the regulations suddenly became the only thing standing between a vibrant internet and a hellscape of greedy Internet Service Providers blocking access to sites, creating slow lanes, making it impossible for new entrants to get a foothold. From every corner of the news media and advocacy world, we heard how repealing these onerous rules “would be the final pillow in (the internet’s) face” (The New York Times),

The leftists running California's one-party state have done it again. They've rolled out a $312 billion budget that includes $98 million for free health care for illegal immigrants under the age of 26. That's a dinner triangle to all able-bodied foreign nationals working off the books that the free ride is about to arrive. According to the Sacramento Bee: The expansion will take effect Jan. 1, 2020 and cost $98 million in the upcoming fiscal year. It will make California the first state to allow undocumented adults to sign up for state-funded health coverage.

President Trump walked hard and carried a big stick this week to bludgeon Mexico into honoring its January 2019 deal to halt illegal immigrants at its southern border. As a key implementation requirement in President Trump’s October 2018 restructure of NAFTA, a side deal titled the Migrant Protection Protocols was subsequently signed by newly inaugurated Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in January 2019. The MPP committed Mexico to increase security along its border with Guatemala and to shelter returned illegal aliens caught sneaking across the U.S. Southern Border “for the duration of their immigration proceedings.”

Unfortunately for the junior senator from New York, it takes more brains than she possesses to pull off unprincipled political pandering. Over the course of her political career, Kirsten Gillibrand has demonstrated a willingness to embrace any policy or group that she thinks will work to her advantage. When she represented a rural-ish upstate New York congressional district, she was all for the Second Amendment, but when elevated to the Senate (to replace Hillary Clinton), her principles reversed themselves. But then again, Bill Clinton was flexible in his principles depending on political advantage and got away with it with enough

Total cases have gone to from virtually nothing last August to 2,031 now — and the data suggest that the trend has not peaked. That's news, because right now, Congolese migrants have begun crossing our unguarded southern border in large numbers. According to the Voice of America: U.S. Border Patrol agents have apprehended more than 150 African immigrants [sic] attempting unauthorized crossings into Texas at the U.S. southern border within the past week, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Introduction Shortly after the Civil War and the passage of the 14th Amendment, the US Supreme Court decided the Slaughter-House cases. Historically, many people have looked at these decisions as severely limiting the ability of the federal government and federal courts from interfering with state government functions by using the Privileges and Immunities clause of the 14th Amendment. Regardless of your position on that debate, this article looks at how the decision by Justice Miller in 1873 actually provides a strong precedent for using the Privileges and Immunities clause of the 14th Amendment against all sanctuary states, counties, and cities. Risky as President Trump's tariff threat tactic on Mexico is, it appears to be ... working. Trump's hardball measures have gotten Mexico to deploy some serious measures to keep the migrant surge into the U.S. from becoming a flood. Somehow, a trade treaty works best when there's a security treaty underlying it, and Mexico thus far seems to recognize this. The markets, by the way, are noticing. According to Fox News: Reports in the evening indicated that Mexico's negotiators with Washington have offered to immediately deploy 6,000 National Guard troops to the border with Guatemala.

It joins the Steele Dossier in ignominy as vile propaganda, and part of the greatest political scandal in American history – the concerted effort of unelected law enforcement and intelligence bureaucrats to determine the results of an election,

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg knows firsthand the burden of six-figure student loan debt. He and his husband, Chasten, are far from alone, though, and their personal college indebtedness is helping to keep the issue on the national stage. The debtors are so numerous and the total debt so high — more than $1.447 trillion, according to federal statistics — that several of the Democratic candidates have made major policy proposals to address the crisis. California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. It's almost incredible, but also entirely characteristic, that California lawmakers have now decided to give healthcare free to nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants aged 19 to 25.

Lake Erie and Lake Superior — two of the five that make up the Great Lakes — broke records for water levels this May. Lakes Michigan and Huron could follow suit. Naturally, climate change is getting the blame. “We are undoubtedly observing the effects of a warming climate in the Great Lakes,” says Richard Rood, a University of Michigan climate scientist. But just a few years ago, climate scientists were insisting that a warming climate would cause water levels to decline. In 2008, Science Daily reported on a study that attributed the decline in Great Lakes water levels to global warming.
