Donald Trump has Mexico over a barrel

Original Article

Mexico is going to cave, and it's not just the tariffs. We've got the Mexicans over a barrel on energy, and if we want, we can wipe their economy out. Without American energy imports, the Mexican economy collapses. This actually doesn't make any sense. Mexico is awash in petroleum and natural gas. But the Mexicans just can't get it out of the ground. American petroleum engineers were critical to the early success of the Mexican oil industry. From 1918 to the late '20s, Mexico was second only to the United States in oil production, and it was number one in petroleum exports.

Comments:

Who knew? Socialism has put Mexico in this enfeebled position.

I’d like to see if the left will cry foul if the US withholds oil from the Mexicans, since oil is “evil” and should be banned altogether.

But the bounty was not fairly shared, and an inflamed Mexican nationalism booted the American oil industry out of the country. Fairly, huh? Sounds like Socialism to me. See where that got you.

Mexico was the victim of short sighted envy. They could have struck a better deal with the US that would have been profitable to both countries. Instead, they are STILL dependant on the US and have little say in it. Since it is nationalized, I will bet that any oil engineers in Mexico are paid little and therefore the country is unattractive to workers and backers to development. Like Venezuela, they did it to themselves. The US stands as a shining example of how to do things right. Yet, a large portion of the world insists on being stupid on how they conduct their affairs. Too bad because good partners in business would benefit both sides. Trump is eager to do business. He just insists that the US not not be saps in doing so.

Jimmy Carter signed over disputed oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico to that country of corrupt criminals and cretins and they've never known what to do with it. Just another reason Jimmy Carter deserves so many asterisks on his name on the list of worst Presidents EVER.

One of the problems with this strategy is that while it has the potential to hurt Mexico economically, it will difficult to effect change. To a very great degree, the corrupt politicians there are BOUGHT and PAID FOR by the leaders of the criminals who are heads of the Cartels. Politicians risk their lives going against them and it is a sorry situation. Paying more for avocados, tequila, and other products of Mexico will be ginned up by the media and still NOTHING will be done about the drugs, human trafficking, and the human cost of allowing this continued INVASION. Those in charge of Mexico have a choice to make in what their next move is going to be. Doing the SAME THING is no longer a choice unless they want to ruin their own economy with no market for their goods.

One of the reasons that Mexico has no outside expertise anymore is that in recent decades they applied the same operating principle as Venezuela. They harassed outside companies endlessly and then didn't pay their bills.

Most people don't quite know what to make of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's alarm about Manhattan prosecutors' decision to throw President Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, into Rikers Island prison. It was an unprecedented move. Yet she's hardly a supporter of people connected to President Trump - she actually wants the president impeached. But she's right about what she's reading: And she didn't back down, either. She gets a day off the idiot list for this principled political opposition. And whether she knows it or not, she's taking on a very sick political situation quite correctly.

CHICAGO (CBS) — The Crete Township victim found dead in the trunk of a car Monday morning likely saved his wife’s life by helping her escape the trunk where their attackers left them, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to Francisco Aranda’s home Monday morning when he and his wife didn’t report for work. They found his 59-year-old wife in the back seat of their car in the attached garage with her hands tightly bound. She said her husband was in the trunk.

To the shouts of "Si, se puede!" House Democrats voted Tuesday to hand out an unconditional amnesty to more than 2 million illegal immigrants brought here as old as age 15 as well as two other migrant categories, sending a message abroad that the border's open and path to the citizenship comes free. That's some message to send during an ongoing border surge. According to The Hill: The Democratic-led chamber passed the Dream and Promise Act in a largely party line 237-187 vote, with seven Republicans joining all Democrats in voting for the bill.

Conditioned responses are funny things. One of them, the statement that they're "probably all nice people" — oft used when discussing illegal migrants — is also a dangerous thing. That very line was uttered, reflexively, by Fox News pundit Tucker Carlson Monday night while discussing how one percent of Guatemalans have left for our country in just the last year. It's a qualifier reflecting that one has been put on the defensive — in a losing position. No, this isn't an attack on Carlson, who's the best mainstream cable news and commentary host in the business. Rather, it's a cautionary tale:

Elizabeth Warren describes her “Plan for Economic Patriotism,” which she released on Tuesday, as a bold departure from the past. “It’s time to reject the excuses we’ve heard for decades about why we can’t do more to health American workers,” she says in the document. Warren and her team appear to have been asleep for the past two years. How else to explain the fact that her plan completely ignores the substantial progress on jobs, wages and economic growth under President Trump, much less the reason behind these gains? Warren, for example, complains about jobs lost overseas and stagnant wages,

A new mural, opened on the side of a school in volcano-ravaged Pahoa, Hawaii, depicts the volcano as — are you ready? — our friend. Here's a screenshot of a shareable Instagram post of the mural: The local Hawaiian press, Hawaii News Now, had a small news item around the state-financed mural's opening in its May 17 issue, depicting a generic-looking Venice Beach–style wallscape. But a letter to the editor in the Hawaii Tribune Herald by Kapoho resident Sylvia Wan tells us this isn't going over well with locals who lost their homes, neighborhoods, and entire communities to the

Earlier this month, San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to order every store in the city to accept cash. It seems that some innovative companies were experimenting with cashless stores as a way to cut costs, improve efficiency and keep prices down. But in progressive San Francisco, that kind of progress cannot be tolerated. Democrat-controlled Philadelphia imposed a similar ban on cashless stores in March. That same month, New Jersey’s Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law banning cashless stores throughout the Garden State.

When I was a little girl around the age of 7 in the late 1960s, the most exciting thing in the world was to persuade my parents to take me and my sisters to Sharp Hospital, up the road from where I lived in San Diego, to go see the newborn babies through the hospital window. In my little-kid mind, two things were must-sees - the giant statue of the stork carrying a baby at the entrance, and from the baby window with all the newborn babies, finding the babies in the incubators, marveling at how tiny they were in their oversized diapers

Democratic luminaries like Bobby Kennedy, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, John F. Kennedy, and Henry “Scoop” Jackson – all of whom in their time represented dark blue states.

Let’s be clear about a few things regarding “carbon taxes”. First, the system of taxing carbon emissions, also known as “cap-n-trade”, has absolutely nothing to do with climate change. Second a “carbon tax” is the holy grail for the totalitarian globalist world view. The concept of a tax on carbon emissions was developed inside the same financial network of multinational monetary interests that control the current global trade system. Powerful financial interests directly connected to The World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Trade Organization (WTO), together with global banking interests connected to Wall Street and
