Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee announced Monday that they will call John Dean, the former White House counsel to President Richard Nixon, as their first witness in the upcoming Mueller report hearings. The hearings, which House Democrats have titled “Lessons from the Mueller Report: Presidential Obstruction and Other Crimes,” will begin June 10 and will primarily serve as a platform to further explore President Trump’s alleged attempts to obstruct Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. “While the White House continues to cover up and stonewall, and to prevent the American people from knowing the truth, we will continue to move forward with our investigation,” Judiciary Committee chariman

So, how old is John Dean? This flash from the past shows how Dems hope to restore the glory they pretended to have in attempting to impeach Nixon. Donald Trump will not resign, you idiots. He ain't no Nixon.

The dems have to go back almost 50 years to the time of their "victory" over Nixon to summon up the ghost of Obstruction. Their witness is the Michael Cohen "rat" of that time who betrayed Nixon. I believe Nixon and his people were unbelievably stupid over something that was trivial in nature. They could have let justice take its course and then pardoned the Watergate crooks at Nixon's exit. This was what Mueller was trying to do, pressure Trump into a stupid move. Trump, while frustrated, did NOT accommodate him. Mueller, as a partisan hack, could not assemble viable evidence against Trump so in frustration, he and his team resorted to smears. REAL lawyers, Barr and others at Justice, determined, accurately, that there was no obstruction. The House dems have now picked up the gauntlet but the public can actually read Mueller's report and know there is nothing there. The House cannot bring the pressure to bear that Mueller did so their attacks will greatly lack Mueller's punch. The House can vote as they wish but there is nothing for the Senate to work with. The Constitution bar for presidential removal is HIGH crimes and misdemeanors. At worst, Trump might have gotten a parking ticket for ill temper due to great provocation. The House dems are playing with fire. You think that after getting burned by Reid "going nuclear" and the Republicans returning the favor 10 fold they would be more cautious.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a petition Monday seeking documents from the City of San Antonio after their city council banned Chick-fil-A from the San Antonio airport. The petition calls for the city to hand over “documents deemed public under state law” to determine if unlawful, discriminatory motives were at play in their March decision to exclude Chick-fil-A from an airport concession contract. The San Antonio City Council passed a motion March 21 banning the fast-food giant from its airport after a ThinkProgress report was released that revealed Chick-fil-A donated $1.8 million to organizations they deemed anti-LGBT. Among these groups were the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Paxton

He has slipped in the polls, is dismissed as a lightweight by much of the news media, and now serves as a punchline for late-night talk show hosts who used to fawn over him. And yet he is clinging to a handhold in the race that could give him a path to the nomination if he can hang on into 2020. The task for Mr. O’Rourke, according to Democratic strategist and pollster John Couvillon, is to stick around long enough for voters to begin looking for an alternative to current front-runner and establishment favorite former Vice President Joseph R. Over the next two days, the 75th anniversary of D-Day will be marked with solemn salutes for the undaunted courage of individual soldiers and sailors and the inspired leadership that assembled the armada that liberated Europe. President Trump will take part in ceremonies in England and then in Normandy, France, where the German bunkers, bomb craters and the vast American cemetery stand in silent testament to the great alliance that came ashore and defeated Hitler. Indeed it was great, perhaps the greatest wartime alliance in history, but could it be done again?

The US announced major new restrictions on US citizens traveling to Cuba on Tuesday, blocking the most common way Americans are able to visit the island -- through organized tour groups that license US citizens to travel automatically -- and banning US cruise ships from stopping in the country. American tourism is not explicitly permitted in Cuba. However, Americans can travel to Cuba if it is covered under specific categories, which included organized group travel, known as group people-to-people travel, until Tuesday. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in the statement that the restrictions are a result of Cuba continuing "to play a destabilizing role in the Western Hemisphere,

President Donald Trump is targeting a trio of states that he lost in 2016 — a move aimed at widening his path to reelection that comes as he’s struggling in the Rust Belt states that propelled him to the White House. Trump officials are zeroing in on New Mexico, Nevada and New Hampshire, where they insist there’s an opening despite heavy losses Republicans suffered there in the midterms. They’ve deployed around a half-dozen staffers to New Hampshire and several to Nevada, an unusually early investment in places that favor Democrats. And the campaign is doing polling to tease out Trump’s level of support in New Mexico, a focal point

The debate over impeachment is growing both deafening and dispiriting. On one side, liberal pols and pundits argue that the Democrats have an absolute duty to make the move against Donald Trump because he's so obviously broken the law — never mind Bob Mueller's lack of charges — and is so awful that history demands action, regardless of the political drawbacks. Other pols and pundits on the left say impeachment would be futile and self-destructive, divide the country, obliterate the Democrats' agenda — and then ultimately fail in the Senate.

The Battle of Midway began 77 years ago, today. This anniversary (if that, indeed, is the right word) will be noted but not so lavishly as the one in two days time, in remembrance of D-Day. These were both great and decisive American victories and should be remembered and honored as long as there is a United States of America. Not so much, however, because they saved the nation. The U.S. would almost certainly have survived defeat at Midway and a repulse in Normandy. The “what-if” scenarios around either case — or both, for that matter — make for interesting speculation. But while the world may have

One of the more unfortunate effects of the Trump-Russia investigation — and there have been many — is the weakening of traditional standards of argument and proof in the public debate over allegations that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to fix the 2016 election. (Just for the record: It didn't.) In particular, angry disputes about the president have done terrible harm to the principle that an investigator, be it a journalist or a prosecutor, should meet at least some standard of proof before leveling an accusation. Two examples. First is the so-called Steele dossier, the collection of wild allegations against Trump compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele on behalf

It didn’t come from FBI intelligence.
