By now, the public is well aware of the “Green New Deal” proposed by freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. They have not responded well to calls for forced veganism and banning airplanes, let alone giving up the American way of life made possible by cheap energy.
(Snip) environmental groups have developed a new strategy to get their way: pass a type of “Green New Deal” state by state.
It’s a smart tactic. They get friendly, left-leaning state legislators and governors, most of whom they financially backed in the past election, to do their dirty work.

This is absolutely astounding. This is almost tactically verbatim what the EU kleptocrats do to member states. Pass burdensome eco-regulations without debate, without taxpayer input, and in secret back-room deals to enrich to so-called 'green energy industry'. Then, these enriched energy companies put that taxpayer windfall into reelecting the donkeys that gave it to them. Banana Republic, meet New Mexico. And if no one steps up to stop this, it will spread across the country.

I have a younger sister in Gallup, and a niece and a nephew in Albuquerque. It will be interesting to hear from them.

Well number 2, you can hear from me, I live outside Aztec, just south of Durango. The problem is, what I have to say about our far left whacko new governor, her appointees and our legislature will get me banned from this sight. They are trying to destroy our economy. Oil and gas is a big business here, and they are trying very, very hard to kill it. That's about all I can say without going way off.

So glad I moved away from there ten years ago. Even then the communists and eco-whackos were getting a foothold. There are so many great people in that state, and they are being steamrolled by the nut jobs, crooked politicians and illegals. There is very little hope. At least I had somewhere else to go.

This is another clue the of socialist's game and how wrong it is. Not able to sustain a frontal assault, sneak tactic through the back door is the move of a six year old. Stand on your own merits or realize some other approach is in order. Of course AOC doesn't pack one.

Considering that the state treasury is flush with cash due to the energy boom in SE NM, and the dems in the legislature are hellbent on growing spending accordingly, there will be another rude awakening when the boom goes bust like it last did in the Fall of 2014.

We live in Southern New Mexico, and my wife just told me about this this morning. I couldn't believe it. I don't want or care about carbon-free energy. I like carbon. It's necessary for all life. I don't like unreliable, expensive renewable energy. There has been absolutely no reporting or discussion of this that I know of, yet the demoncrats just spring it on us, and expect for the taxpayers to fund it. Sounds like collusion and conspiracy between the Governor, Propst, and the eco-groups.
There are way too may mindless, uninformed voters in this state, who elect such morons as Lujan Grisham. Guess they are smart enough to pull their scams such as this on us, though. What's the matter, Michelle? Not making enough from the drug cartels, allowing all those drugs through unmanned border patrol checkpoints?

Well, the state has been in the Democrat column for some time. The majority of voters in the state invited this. And when the consequences come home to roost blame will be diffused, spun by the media and tossed into the lap of a Republican president.

Note to NM voters. Retaliate in the next election by getting rid of your subversive anti-American politicians.

Looks like the elites have decided to force this upon the citizens without their consent.
Long gone are the days of Senator Pete Dominici...

At one time, some time back, I was seriously considering moving to New Mexico. Sure glad that didn't happen.

The Oil and Gas companies should cease production, timed with the Election cycle in NM. Tell the voters how much money is now lost to the State Treasury, and how much in State Monies will be spent to replace oil and gas with Wind and Solar, and the exact kilowatt shortfall they will experience.
Sitting in the dark, with no A/C, your food rotting in the fridge, an your Electric Car sitting in the driveway with dead batteries, will quickly put this New Green Deal on it's butt.
