Mayor Pete Buttigieg claimed Thursday that it was unknowable when human life begins, making the issue of abortion too complicated to regulate.“For those who have a strong view about some of these almost unknowable questions around life, the best answer I can give, is that because we will never be able to settle those questions, in a consensus fashion,” he said in response to a question about abortion limits.Buttigieg commented on the issue of abortion during a conversation with Washington Post reporter Robert Costa. When asked to clarify his claim that it was “unknowable” when life began,

I guess the science isn't settled. But we know the date certain in 12 years when the global warming finally extinguishes all human life. That science is known to a metaphysical certitude.

Buttigieg followed his rejection of life in the womb by urging Christians to join him on the principle of helping “the least among us.”
“If by chance, your view on that issue is motivated by faith, I would point out that this is also a moment for people of faith to think about what it means to support policies and politicians who care about lifting up the least among us,” he said.
The least among us. Who would that be, exactly? It's the infant having his or her living brains sucked out. When it's over the mother takes a cab home.

If it's not a living thing at conception, what is it? At conception, a child has all that is necessary to function as a human being; body parts, DNA, chromosomes, everything.

This man claims to be a ''Christian'' but is not willing to accept the Bible as truth when he ignores Jeremiah 1:5 ''Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.'' Maybe he should drop out of the race to the nomination. He either doesn't know anything, doesn't even suspect anything or totally ignores everything except smashing his aberrant lifestyle in my face. Life begins when the Creator begins it.

FTA: "He argued that government should not draw any legal limits on abortion, leaving the choice solely to pregnant women."
What about the fathers? Current policies allow them no legal rights to participate in abortion decisions, yet requires that they be legally responsible for financial support in the event the child is born.
This is schizophrenic!!

perhaps, but various points in time after it begins can be known with certainty: for dims, perhaps 6 months after birth would be noncontroversial; for sane people, the third trimester would be uncontroversial. But the EXACT moment might be unknowable.

This is nothing but a paraphrase of Obama's "Above my pay grade" answer to a similar question. He expounds on the subject to give it "gravitas" but it's a non answer.

Following that logic then there can be no protection for endangered bird eggs, can there? If an eagle is not an eagle in its shell then there is no crime in destroying it, is there? How about those loggerhead turtle eggs? They cannot be considered loggerheads can they? Nice try BOZO but sorry no cigar.

Butthead just doesn't want to do any complex thinking.
He is a leftist, and has a pat answer for each reason that he won't consider or doesn't
understand the rational side of the various issues.
It is really a total waste of time to pay attention to the 2 dozen fools.

The Democrats claim that Christians are anti-science because they don't accept that life on earth somehow sprang into being from inorganic matter--even though science has no explanation for how that happened. But they reject the basic biological fact that human life begins at conception, when DNA, with the full genetic code of the new person, is formed.

Mayor Buttofajoke was ccnfused. He thought question was “When does human life begin for a Democrat”. Which is why he responded with “That’s unknowable”.
What’s tragic for our country is that the majority of Democrats consider his heartless answer as acceptable.

FTA: "He warned that attempts to overturn Roe vs. Wade would inevitably lead to more unsafe illegal abortions that would harm more women."
No, Buttboi, getting rid of Roe v. Wade would turn the issue back to the states where it belongs. As evidenced by the rash of infanticide legislation being proposed in a number of states, women will be able to find a willing provider. It may involve crossing a state line, but I'm sure some compassionate prog outfit will help arrange transit.

You know the outcome of a pregnancy is going to be a human baby so why not err on the side of caution? The ghouls will justify abortion any way they can - this one is especially wishy washy, isn't he?

Ok Buttboy let's try your position on for size. What you are saying is that abortion might be murder. That's like saying if I fire off a round in public I might hit someone and kill them or I might not. So in my feeble mind I wouldn't dream of firing into a crowd. But in your world, we might kill a human but it's hard to be certain, so fire away. Do you really understand what you have said?

If people living outside the womb are human and we can’t know precisely when they became living humans we can’t ever abort them without the risk of taking innocent human life.

Where there is absolutely NO DOUBT is when the emergent infant takes its first breath. Even then Demonrats wish to exert absolute control over irrefutable human life! Where in the debate is "reproductive responsibility?" Where in the debate is discussion of the antagonistic effects on the woman opting for serial abortions?

Another 'gay' man running for President said it was "above his pay grade". Don't know for sure. But one thing we can be sure of. No one open mouth kissing his 'husband' in public is going to be elected President. As Nancy Pelosi likes to put it "You can take that to the bank".

I think if Mayor Pete were to ask a doctor when life begins he just might get an answer. Perhaps that never occurred to him. I know when life begins and I'm not a doctor.

Meiosis and mitosis are properties only of living cells. .. life.

I'll take that. So, if it's unknowable, then we need to err on the absolute maximum possibility of life, right? If you don't know if you're killing a life, then we ought not do it, right? Sounds like an argument for life begins at conception.

Amazingly another Democrat who is not aware of the existence of the basic reproductive cycle of most multi-cellular creatures ~ to wit:
"Meiosis is where a diploid cell gives rise to haploid cells, and fertilization is where two haploid cells (gametes) fuse to form a diploid"
But, of course, he's not really interested in that part.
