Presidential hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY., warned Wednesday that “radical” Supreme Court Justices like Brett Kavanaugh put abortion rights in grave danger. "We used to believe in precedent in this country,” Gillibrand said during an appearance on MSNBC. “But under President Trump, he´s trying to upend the entire court system." Gillibrand was reacting to news that broke late Tuesday that the Alabama State Senate had passed a measure virtually outlawing all abortions within state lines— including in instances of rape or incest.

Oh, gee. On the one hand, 2 million babies per year face doom.
On the other hand, Roe faces doom.
Let´s kill Roe and save the babies. It will make a YUGE difference in our nation!

FTA: "Supreme Court justices "intend to overturn a decided precedent that the United States and the people of this country support,” Gillibrand said."
If the people of this country support all abortion, why are so many states passing laws placing restrictions on its practice?
The terms "abortion" and "privacy" appear nowhere in the US Constitution. A radical Supreme Court made abortion a federal, rather than a state issue.
The constitutionality of abortion should be decided by approval of a Constitutional amendment where the people, through their representatives in the US Congress and state legislatures have an opportunity to voice their approval or disapproval.
Historically, two amendments to the US Constitution were enacted to address the legality of alcohol. Abortion is a matter much more serious than alcohol and should be decided by the people, NOT by nine unelected Supreme Court judges.
Get abortion out of politics!! Let the people decide on a Constitutional amendment!!

Does she really think she has a chance? I am already tired of her. Ask her what her daddy did for the sex cult.

Roe v. Wade created an area that could be changed, dealing with the viability of the unborn baby.
If anything is a ´clump of cells´ it is Gillibrand. Cue Randy Newman´s ´Short People.´

Who are you kidding, Kirsten? Kavanaugh is more left than Roberts could ever hope to be. Sort of like a stealth lib.

What I don´t get is why ANYONE believes this is true.
Kavanaugh said long ago that while he is personally Pro-Life, he considers Roe V. Wade to be settled law, and that he would NOT attempt to overturn it.

2nd post apologies, but ... Roe v. Wade allows for modification based on viability of the unborn baby. It also contains language allowing room for states to modify the ruling.
If Sandra Dim O´Connor had sober when she negotiated Casey v. Planned Parenthood, and instead created ´undue burden´ on the pregnant mother, the ruling on Casey would have made some sense.

As much as I would like this to be true, when was the last time Gillibrand knew what was going on?

If Roe v. Wade is overturned, it goes back to the states. Some states will outlaw or severely restrict and others will allow botched abortion survivors to die - just as we are seeing, now.
Finding the case to bring to the SCOTUS is the first, very difficult step.
Little will change for a very long time.

She´s 50 years old. How many more abortions does she need? Give it a rest, Jellybrains. Consider joining the Alyssa Milano Great American Sex-Out.

There are a series of SCOTUS decisions that should never have been made because they usurped the states´ authority. Roe v. Wade is one, Obergefell v. Hodges is another. Both issues should have been decided in the ballot box by the citizens of the state. There would be much less controversy over both issues if they´d been decided by the citizens of individual states. Our Supreme Court would be much less politicized if both decisions had been punted back to the states.

I agree with all of the above comments.
However:
Alabama´s rush to restrict abortion, so the case can be elevated to the SCOTUS, doesn´t address how many libs this argument may motivate, possibly generating more millions of additional votes for President Trump´s opponent, just so a dem president can appoint more liberals to the Court.
While I am pro-life, I´m also pro-Trump, and I am more urgently concerned for his re-election than I am that the abortion issue be returned to the states to be determined in each state jurisdiction.
First things first. Can President Trump win if this issue causes him to lose Ohio? Wisconsin? Pennsylvania? Michigan?
