In “Republicans in a Nation” (Washington Post, May 4-5, 2019) “conservative” columnist Peggy Noonan outdid herself in an entertaining display of intellectual gymnastics to defend the following premise: …old conservatism was deeply pertinent to its era and philosophy right, but it is not fully in line with the crisis of our time or its reigning facts. Conservatism centers on the belief that some ideas are timeless. The notion that even one of these ideas was merely “pertinent to its era” is the opposite of conservatism.

The writers and columnists at National Review just had a great week. Joe Biden was inaugurated, President Trump is gone, and their writers can scratch off their calendars the upcoming rush week at the Lincoln Project frat house and get back to pretending they are conservatives. It's been four years since they last parroted the Paul Ryan/Mitch McConnell if-only-we-were-in-power shtick, and they made up much lost ground with a slew of articles critical of Biden's first days in office.

Dawson Buchanan, a young Trump supporter, left a very disturbing thread on Twitter. He asserts that he was all set to begin working for a company called Private Jet Services. However, shortly before he was to begin, PJS fired him. He finally learned from the owner that PJS had a contract with the National Hockey League. When the NHL learned that PJS had hired someone who had worked for the Trump company, the NHL said PJS had a choice: Buchanan or the NHL. PJS opted for the company that helps pay its bills. If you're from the Southeastern United States, you are very familiar with hushpuppies, and I mean the food, not the shoe. If you're not, they are a blob of cornbread dough about the size of your thumb that has been deep-fried to a golden brown. They are delicious. It is with desperation that Trump supporters -- those of us who are faithful to the Constitution and expect our elected officials to be faithful to it as well -- are distraught at the rumor that Durham is giving-up on his investigation of the coup plotters, who broke every law on the books in their attempt to derail the Trump presidency. How can this be? What has been shared with the public is more than enough to send many of the conspirators to prison for the rest of their lives, but as yet not one of them has even been charged with a crime.
It appears that the bureaucracy is more afraid of the Democrats than the people, as a report emerges claiming the Justice Department is dropping the investigation into Spygate, nearly two years after it began. The Federalist’s Sean Davis reports that the investigation into a treacherous spying operation on Donald Trump’s campaign and presidency is being dropped.
A source familiar with Durham’s ongoing investigation of the bogus Russian collusion operation tells @FDRLST: “Durham isn’t doing anything. Dropping his investigations. He’s worried about blowback from Biden. What an absolute disgrace.”

The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man.
Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
