Actor Kevin Costner is angry about America´s political landscape and says that our selfishness has transformed the country away from its former greatness."The political landscape is unrecognizable to me, and shame on us for being in that spot," the actor told Variety. "That could change overnight, not because of a vote, but because people say, ‘I want to try to be more than about myself.’ That’s the definition of public service."Costner went on to say that the American experiment will always be great but that greatness will cease if politics continue down this path."This is the greatest experiment

FTA: ~~"Costner did not mention President Trump by name, so it is unclear if he sees the Trump administration as a symptom of the political problem or a cause of it. He did, however, campaign for President Obama in 2008, a president who certainly made the political landscape ugly by using identity politics as a bully club. When asked about his 2020 pick, Costner did not say, though he admitted to liking the idea of Michelle Obama."~~

Costner exemplifies what is wrong with our politics. The problem is not with the system, it is with the bad actors within. They are predominantly Democrats. Kevin didn´t have the courage to name names. Until Trump, neither did Republicans.

As someone who refuses to go to the movies anymore, I´m not throwing Kevin Costner under the bus yet. Having listened to his incredibly moving, non-PC eulogy of Whitney Houston, I´ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
If this is a general statement about today´s politics, he´s not wrong. There is nothing in this article suggesting his political preference or condemning Trump, except the author.
I´m reserving judgment for now.

I fail to see how Michelle Obama is qualified for anything. At all. The presidency is a real job...unless you´re contracting it out to the likes of Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Susan Rice, etc., as her husband did. I don´t think she´ll run. She likes the perks but has no desire to represent anyone but herself.

He´s an idiot if he really thinks Chewbacca should be president. That said, I was at his place in, I think Deadwood or somewhere in SD, and the waitress said he came in all the time with his friends--super nice guy and great tipper. For what that´s worth.

I don´t have a problem with people voicing their opinion. If they are polite and not being derogatory, all the better. He did not go after Trump or name names. There are actors whose movies I won´t watch. This opinion does not rise to that level.

Well said, #8, he was the only Hollywood person I heard to defend the “Kill Bush” movie narrative ...
IMHO, he needs another “Tin Cup” ‘defining moment’ to do his homework on POTUS, turn off The View et al, and to “Dance With Wolves” again to listen to America’s Heartland... then pray he has an “Untouchables” lesson on what former First Lady’s Un-American agenda might be...
Let’s all send him a poignant “Message in a Bottle” to MAGA for all America... or help our current POTUS continue to build a “Field of Dreams”...for all Americans!

Kevin, keep your leftist whining to yourself. Americans work everyday to maintain themselves and their families, and have nothing to be ashamed of. If you feel ashamed, Kevin, it is because you are a Democrat, and should be ashamed of all the lies and ruin those policies have caused.

Well, I don’t give him the benefit of the doubt. If he says right out something so ludicrous about Michelle running for president, then he doesn’t know WHAT is good for this great nation. Hollywood claptrap. By the way, Mr. Costner, your Hollywood has a lot to answer for as they have helped drag America down.

President Trump was elected exactly because he cares about the country and not his party. He is really the first "independent" President in my lifetime. He was nominated and elected with the support of the people and not by Republican party leadership.

Says the man who likes to expose himself to massage staff. As for Mooch, I don´t think she could write a complete sentence without help. And she´d starve kids in school. She should be at the bottom of anyone´s list for president, under me and people on this forum.
