Former Massachusetts Gov. William “Bill” Weld announced Monday he is running against President Trump for the Republican nomination for president.Weld revealed that he formed a presidential exploratory committee back in February, but Monday’s announcement makes his intra-party challenge official. “In these times of great political strife, when both major parties are entrenched in their ‘win at all cost’ battles, the voices of the American people are being ignored and our nation is suffering,” Weld said in a statement provided to the Washington Examiner. “It is time to return to the principles of Lincoln – equality, dignity, and opportunity for all."

Weld´s still angry - as a neverTrumper he thought maybe he´d get a Hillary cabinet post.
Anyone have any idea what Trump might come up with as a nickname for Weld?

There is an old saying about doing something fairly improbably "up a rope", which I believe applies perfectly.
He is DOA politically.

If you want do-nothing globalist GOP business as usual, vote Weld. If you want an anti-American leftist revolution, vote for any Democrat. If you want someone that will protect America and Americans, vote for Trump.

I honestly have no idea who he is. When I saw a headline on another site saying Weld was running I assumed he was yet another Democrat.

FTA: "It is time to return to the principles of Lincoln." I wish we would return to the principles of Ole Abe. Suspend the Constitution, close down newspapers, throw their editors and reporters in jail, and send armed troops to end civil disorder. No pussyfooting around.

I suspect that his motives are more on the order of declare your candidacy and get a bunch of idiots, Trump haters and Leftist loons to give you a pile of money any unused amount of which you get to keep. Pretty sweet gig. This also could apply to most of the leftist loonies running for the Dem nomination as well.

Gee, I guess President Trump will need to raise another $30 million to fight this serious contender.
He may not have even a buck left when he has to go against one of those in the Democrat clown car in the general election, if he is able to fight off Bill Weld.

Weld has obviously done nothing of note if we haven´t heard of him.

From sleep deprivation and zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Bill, you go girl. Get that audience (all seven people) worked down for the feature snooze show because there are just NOT enough Republican leaders who fall down, roll over and soil themselves when Pelosi and Nadler whisper boo in their ears.

#45 has it. This is Mitt´s shadow campaign, with Weld getting the band back together and Romney at a safe distance.
The stuff is going to fly at PDT after Labor Day...Nadler and others will start screaming hearings, investigation, abuse of power, tax shenanigans, and threaten impeachment. They will go after family, friends and associates to further raise the ante.
GOPe will signal some level of "concern"...Mitt and Lindsey are already warming up in their bullpens: Mitt for the NeverTrumpers, Lindsey for the MAGA crowd, a gruesome twosome to step in IF PDT should decide one term was enough.
