On Saturday, Tommy Tuberville — who became a national name during his ten-year highly successful run as the head football coach at Auburn University, during which time his team pulled off a perfect season but was famously left out of the BCS National Championship Game — announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate to represent Alabama in 2020. The seat is currently filled by Democrat Doug Jones, who narrowly edged out scandal-plagued Republican Roy Moore in the 2017 special election to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions after President Trump named him attorney general. Okay, I know next to nothing about Alabama politics, so this is is a sincere question for those of you who do: Which candidates would be better, Tommy Tuberville or Rep. Bradley Byrne?

Too bad they just didn´t leave Sessions there, for a variety of reasons.

#4 Almost anyone would be better than Jones. Roy Moore was a lousy (often silly) campaigner. He was "Kavanaughed" to a degree not often seen in AL. His accusers used dirty tricks and lies and still, Jones only scraped by—there are reasons to believe that there was considerable "vote harvesting" in certain areas--notably Birmingham and down near Montgomery. Look at the county-by-county voting map of the 2016 election. You´ll see a stripe of blue in a sea of red in Birmingham and the "black belt."
I´ve got to research Byrne, but Tuberville is a good, solid man.

Tuberville has mentored many Black Athletes which made a lucrative career in the NFL possible. That in itself will take the Race Card out of play.

Right now, i am trending for Bradley Byrne because at least I know something about him. I know nothing about Tommy Tuberville except that he was a football coach. The primary is in 11 months so who knows who else will run. I really hope it isn´t Roy Moore, though. All I know is that nowadays, if you are going to start a campaign, you should have your website totally ready. i looked at it yesterday for Tuberville and he just was asking for volunteers- zero about anything else.

#4, Tommy put the #MAGA hashtag on his tweet about his announcement.
Unequivocal support of the POTUS, even if he were not to agree with every dot of the "i" or cross of the "t" in policy.
FTA: Byrne, a former Democrat, made clear when he announced in February that he supports President Trump. "So far, I don’t know of anything where he and I fundamentally disagree," he said of the president, though he did express concern about some of his trade policies.
That "so far" comment sounds like a hedge against support and an indication of "wishy-washy", to me.

"Former Democrat" should almost always be a total deal breaker, IMO.

I think I´ll wait to see what Mo Brooks does. Byrne is a good guy, but he´s Little Dick Shelby´s candidate and will be beholden to him and Mushmouth. Tuberville is a great football coach and that´s all I know about him which is not enough.

I don´t know how far I trust him based on his departure from Ole Miss for Auburn. He held a press conference saying he was staying, he held a meeting with the players and coaches assuring them he was staying, then he took a taxi to the airport to hop on Auburn´s jet where he flew off to meet his wife who had packed-up up the house and left the night before. Maybe that´s just the coaching racket, I don´t know. I just don´t know what he´ll do if someone offers him a "better deal".
