In a stunning development Cook County Asst. State Attorney Joseph Magat decided to drop all charges against Jussie Smollett for perpetrating a hate hoax crime. All of the investigative evidence is solid; all of the evidence that proves Jussie Smollett did perpetrate the hoax is solid; and the police are angry with State Attorney Magat. It appears the Asst. State Attorney felt the crime was not really that big a deal.

FTA:
Magat’s position is predictable; the Asst. State Attorney for Cook county will claim if he took the Smollett case to it’s conclusion the sentence would likely be community service as punishment. Well, Jussie Smollett will still do the community service, but will not have the conviction… that’s the deal. Two-tiered justice.
This decision is so corrupt and so obviously politically connected, that even Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel cannot stand behind it. WATCH:(Video)
Sundance has his own opinion of what this hoax was all about. It matches the opinion of many posters here and elsewhere.

Relax, it’s just the “Chicago Way” raising its ugly head again. Apparently back when this fiasco started an Obama apparachek was discovered contacting the head prosecutor (State’s Attorney) in behalf of Smollett, and that prosecutor then had to recuse herself, so what do you expect was going to happen in the end?

It´s called "Progressive Privilege"!
Every cop in Chicago should call in with the "Blue flu", or better yet take early retirement if they can. In the end, this will make the Democrats weaker. How can decent people stand for this. Maggots will get away with this because he knows that the media will cover for him. I´m surprised that he didn´t apologize to Jussie for his being put through the wringer.

Some Americans could rightly opine: "If the FIX is in for THEE, then why not for ME." THis is a microcosm of the way that the elite Left thinks, and dovetails almost perfectly with the college admissions scandal where the "right" people get the pass ... same with affirmative action, etc. This is the Left´s MO: "NO matter if the system works for honest and hardworking folks, it DOESN´T work for OUR people. So whether it is an ELECTION, a COLLEGE ADMISSION, a JOB placement, or A CRIME, we need to CHANGE the RULES for our people (who otherwise CANNOT MAKE THE GRADE or dodge the crime´s penalty). This is anathema for the average American.

It is an accepted position that the Chicago prosecutors are owned by the corrupt gangsters.
Been that way for nearly a century.

FTA: "...we work to prioritize violent crime and the drivers of violent crime."
I guess another Helter-Skelter attempt to stir up race riots or otherwise cause violent harm to whites and Trump supporters has no correlation to "driving violent crime." One doesn´t have to succeed in pulling off the major offense to be guilty of a major crime. In criminal law, it is called an inchoate offense, which entails attempt, solicitation, and conspiracy.

Agree #3. I´ve read about this in 3-4 other places. It was intended to be a "set up" for Kamala, etc. At a bare minimum, it remains that there is 2 set of rules in the country. Those that have (dollars or connections or both) and we peons.

Wonder what the Chicago PD thinks about this? This is not about black and white. It´s about privilege and the evil ruling class taking care of their own. And, I don´t mean Smollett. He´d better watch his back from now on. He´s more done now than he ever was.

Local news is reporting all all the records related to this case have also been sealed, so no-one will ever know the full extent of the evidence.
The mayoral race is down to tow black women, one has campaign literature accusing the other of being pro-law enforcement! In Chicago, property crimes are no longer even tried in court and that includes car-jackings. It is a regular occurrence that an armed robber is caught while on parole for armed robbery. The wheels are coming off in this city quickly.

I smell a George Soros-backed state attorney here somewhere. He spent a lot of money in a lot of states on attorneys general races and locally DA´s races.
Anyone know?

As Woods says...he feels sorry for the next REAL victim of hate crime. A real hate crime.
Smollett is POS. His co-stars hate him. This only makes their cases against - oh, everything in the world they can think up - that much harder. THEY may not have Obama photos to help them. Chicago PD better fight this all the way down.

Two tiered justice. This was done to divert attention from the exoneration of the President by the Special Prosecutor Mueller. The President must direct the AG Barr to investigate how the Russia hoax began and when--who did what and when and make that investigation nightly news, every night, until all the perps responsible are indicted from the low level actors all the way to whomever is found as participants all the way too the top--even if it includes former President Obama and Hillary Clinton. No one is above the law.

Sundance misspelled maggot./ This prosecutor even knows what he did is Baloney, and he knows he had Smollett good and proper. Mooch Obama is behind this, and it stinks to high heaven. Even Rahm is ticked off that he was dropped into the soup over this.

This reminds me of the Lynch/Comey playbook. Lynch recuses herself after she gets a deal from Comey to pick up her plan for no prosecution of the Butcher.
