Some of my earliest memories are from a grocery store. My mother, and later her sister, worked at a locally owned Key Market running the deli department. Baked goods, hot meals, sliced meats and fresh salads, and the best donuts you ever tasted made from scratch every day — it was a kid’s paradise. She would sometimes take me to work on Saturdays, and I’d help, doing everything but slicing the meat (age-restricted because it’s dangerous). It was fun for me, and I learned things I would not have learned watching cartoons.

The scene of the pursuit was the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta, which has made headlines in recent days after 60,000 illegal migrants poured in from Morocco.
Republican US Senator Darline Graham (R-SC) came out in favor of nuking the filibuster to get the SAVE Act passed.
Graham, the sister of former Senator Lindsey Graham, came out in support of the SAVE Act and says she is in favor of eliminating the senate filibuster to get it to pass. Darline made the comments during the South Carolina Republican US Senate debate.
Graham added that Democrats will abolish the filibuster if they take control of the US Senate anyway.

This past weekend, Russia’s main domestic security agency, the FSB, announced that Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been charged with aiding terrorism and put on an international wanted list.
CBS News reported: The charges against Durov, who was born and began his career in Russia but later moved abroad, came as the Russian authorities restrict Telegram, one of the most popular messaging apps in the country – […] Soon after the charges were announced, Telegram’s official account on X posted an image of Durov making an obscene gesture with his middle finger. There was no other immediate comment from Durov or Telegram.”

When the ESPN host invited the firebrand on the show, he may not have expected the legendary football player to unleash a rant for the ages on Dr. Anthony Fauci. “SCOTUS made it very clear that lower courts cannot suspend TPS. Yet, an Obama-appointed judge is defying the Court and the Constitution in an attempt to subvert the will of the President," Ogles said in a statement provided to Just the News.

Gov. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., announced that she has restored voting rights to 66,085 Virginians who had prior felony convictions.
Virginia’s constitution doesn't allow convicted felons to vote after serving their sentences unless a governor restores their voting rights.

As the midterms loom, the commentariat is confidently predicting that the Republican House majority is all but doomed. It is of course true that history does not portend a victorious outcome for the GOP. The president’s party almost always loses House seats in midterm elections. Yet history has been confounded more than once during the Trump era. There are factors at play this year that may save the GOP majority. The Republicans enjoy a 2-to-1 cash advantage over the Democrats (snip) and the same people who orchestrated President Trump’s historic 2024 victory are managing the party’s midterm strategy.
Old habits die hard. At least that is the case for our Supreme Court’s Justice Neil Gorsuch, who persists in repeating the erroneous narrative that America was founded as religiously neutral. In a July 24th interview with PBS’ Margaret Hoover, Gorsuch gave his interpretation of the American founding, denying America was founded as a Christian nation:
“We were never supposed to be a nation that was about one race or one religion … It was about those ideas [in the Declaration of Independence] … We have a First Amendment, for crying out loud. No established religion.”

Something like 80% of Americans oppose allowing men to play in women’s sports leagues. That is, after all, the entire point of having women’s divisions and leagues–women play against other women, not against men.
For a sports organization like the Women’s National Basketball Association to come out in favor of allowing men (“trans women”) to play in their league is the height of perversity. If men could play in the WNBA, there soon would be no women left and no purpose to the league. When I was 18, a guy painting our house accidentally lost his grip on a can of paint, which then rolled off the roof and exploded on the hood of my already bedraggled, orange 1974 Gremlin X. No problem, it was an accident.
In 1990, a neighbor living above me in New York City left his water running in his tub to thaw a Thanksgiving turkey and took a nap. His tub overflowed, flooding his floor and eventually sending a chunk of wet tenement ceiling onto my 12-inch TV (I know, I'm bragging). No big deal, feces happens.
