I’ll read a few of the things that are happening this week in California, and you can provide us with commentary. The first thing that I think is very interesting is that the federal Congress, the House, has passed a bill for the defense budget of $1.15 trillion. In it, Donald Trump has the ability to seize property in California for an oil pipeline. The property they’re looking at is down near Santa Barbara.

Several prominent Senate Republicans have joined President Donald Trump in pressuring Senate Majority Leader John Thune to cancel the Senate’s August recess to pass the SAVE America Act, the voter-integrity legislation championed by the president.

Banks stated that after New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced that more than 6,600 noncitizens had been accidentally registered to vote, there has been a new push among Republicans to enact the legislation.
Some sectors of Louisiana’s economy faced challenges because of the Trump administration’s tariff policy, but House Speaker Mike Johnson said he believes the overall impact has been positive because it corrected what he described as trade disparities.
The administration turned to Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 for authority to impose new tariffs, according to a White House memorandum. The U.S. Supreme Court had ruled earlier this year that the president could not impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
This month, the administration announced tariffs on imports from 60 economies, the memorandum said.

The ad, titled “Hold the Line,” will run across North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, Michigan, Georgia, and New Hampshire. These are their key Senate races that could keep Republicans in the majority.

But it’s not only museums where women dominate. Other arts and cultural institutions seem to be on a permanent trajectory to hire women as CEOs. On the surface, this shouldn’t be a problem. Qualified women should certainly take their place at the top if they are the best candidates for the job.
