For generations, California represented the American dream—a place where families moved in search of opportunity, good-paying jobs, and a better life. Today, the Golden State is earning a very different reputation.
For 2026, California has been ranked the third-worst state to move to, according to Consumer Affairs’ annual state rankings, placing behind only Louisiana and New Mexico. The report evaluates states based on affordability, safety, economic strength, health care, education, and quality of life.
California’s ranking was driven largely by poor scores in affordability, safety, and economic strength.
While the state ranked 23rd in health care and education, and 14th in quality of life,

Charlie Kirk’s accused killer Tyler Robinson confessed three times to murdering the conservative leading light, according to a bombshell video from Robinson’s trans lover — including after he sneaked back to their Utah love nest.
Lance Twiggs, who was seen speaking publicly for the first time Thursday in a pre-recorded deposition, told investigators he awoke the day after the Sept. 10 assassination to Robinson walking around their apartment, before he broke down and declared he “wishes he hadn’t done it” and that he was about to turn himself in.
Robinson’s confessions, in a letter to Twiggs, text messages and in person — all shown in court during a preliminary hearing —

The New York mother beaten to death in her new home in Ireland shared a tragic, final post celebrating July 4th — lovingly posing with the asylum-seeking boyfriend who is the suspect in her murder, according to police sources.
Westchester County native Jamey Carney, 43, posted a pic seemingly wishing she was back in the Big Apple, beaming alongside Ahmad Alsaqer, the 28-year-old now identified as the person of interest in the brutal crime.
“Happy 4th y’all,” she wrote alongside the photo of them cuddling up in front of an AI-generated backdrop of Times Square, with the mom in Knicks T-shirt and Alsaqer in a Giants one.

As we've often said here, when Democrats tell us who they really are, we should believe them, and that has certainly been the case this election cycle, with America-hating socialists winning their primary races in hopes of expanding the Mamdani wing of the party in Congress. That was also the case in the aftermath of the September 2025 assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, 31, during an event at Utah Valley University. After the news broke, we saw radical leftists, including educators, medical professionals, and elected officials, openly and unapologetically express glee over the conservative icon's murder, with some even suggesting that Kirk's killing shouldn't be the last.

There can be little doubt that climate change is dropping down the global political agenda. Though my colleague, Dr Tilak Doshi, is surely right that we should be cautious about proclaiming the death of climate alarmism – and its influence – there are many signs that put the peak of the green agenda in our rearview mirrors, at least symbolically. Not least of those symbols is the Canadian Prime Minister’s whiplash U-turning on climate and energy policy, seemingly in the face of new geopolitical realities.
Mark Carney has been sending disappointing signals to the green lobby since his victory at the April 2025 General Election. In May 2026,

Here's my biggest problem with the current state of looniness on the left these days. It's not just that the Democrats and their flying monkeys in the mainstream media have had sanity in their rearview mirrors for years now; it's that they've become criminally boring while doing so. We've all seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; we know that there are crazy people out there who are fun to watch. The 2026 Democrats are just an endless parade of yawn-inducing predictability. It's a given that no Democrat will ever take responsibility for anything that he or she has done wrong; personal accountability is anathema to them.

Taco Bell has temporarily removed lettuce, guacamole, and pico de gallo from many menu items as a parasite causing severe diarrhea spreads across multiple U.S. states.
The fast-food chain acted out of caution as health officials investigate cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness linked to contaminated produce. The move affects popular items, including burritos, tacos, and bowls that typically feature fresh ingredients. The parasite in question is Cyclospora cayetanensis, which causes cyclosporiasis. Symptoms include watery “explosive” diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, nausea, and fatigue. The illness can last weeks if untreated.

President Trump on Thursday fired the three remaining members of the Election Assistance Commission ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Two Democrat commissioners Thomas Hicks and Benjamin Hovland were fired over email.
The lone Republican commissioner, Christy McCormick, resigned.
The firings left the independent commission with no commissioners.
The firings come after the Supreme Court ruled that a US president has the authority to fire heads of independent agencies in the executive branch.
Reuters reported:
U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday terminated the members of the Election Assistance Commission, the independent, federal commission that assists election administration officials nationwide, according to one person familiar with the decision and two other people briefed on the terminations.

The ACLJ has long recognized the critical importance—and value—of voting in America. With that understanding comes the calling to protect it. The ACLJ has fought for voter integrity and the sanctity of the vote for decades, going back to Bush v. Gore and as recently as representing the Colorado GOP all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court against lawfare attempting to block President Trump from appearing on the ballot, along with multiple other state GOPs facing similar challenges. We even represented the Green Party of Nevada when it faced lawfare aimed at keeping its candidate off the ballot. We routinely monitor and file briefs in election law cases.

Congress is demanding answers after a review found that inspectors general—the federal officials charged with weeding out agency waste and fraud—are failing to police their own.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is asking the body with oversight of inspectors general across multiple agencies, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, to provide additional documents after the Government Accountability Office found that the council missed deadlines in completing investigations, discarded complaints that should be investigated, and failed to properly monitor potential conflicts of interest.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is officially kicking off his scheme to socialize the city’s housing stock with his “Fix the City” program.
The idea of the program is to target Gotham’s worst landlords by levying heavy fines and taking court action to confiscate their buildings if they don’t fix violations and/or pay the fines.
All that’s missing is the slogan: Tenants of New York unite! Dilapidated public housing for all!
Don’t doubt it: The radical New York State Tenant Bloc, once headed by Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s tenant czar, is strongly pushing City Hall to use a $2.2 billion fund to “take housing off landlords’ hands.”
