California Gov. Gavin Newsom can’t help himself when it comes to bragging about the performance of the state while he’s been in charge. Often it means saying things that are wildly untrue. Take his latest attempt at self-congratulation. In a post on X, Newsom claimed, “Since 2019, California has grown about 40% in its economy — no other jurisdiction in the United States has come close. We have no peers.” That might be accurate if what Newsom meant was that California has no peers when it comes to how badly the state’s economy has been performing since 2019. Newsom’s 40% growth rate is in nominal terms. In real terms,

It’s not the people who vote, it’s the people who count the votes. Witness the CA primaries last month.

DSA Colorado Win Shows Third-World Communism

Ethiopian-born socialist Melat Kiros unseated Democrat incumbent Diana DeGette in a race for Colorado’s 1st Congressional District on Tuesday, her victory coming on the heels of a socialist sweep of a series of congressional primaries in New York. The string of socialist victories across the country shows that the ideas many thought were once confined to the fringe of the Democrat Party are no longer fringe. Rather than rejecting candidates who openly embrace socialist and communist ideas, Democrat voters and party members are elevating them. In choosing socialists over “mainstream” Democrats, Democrats are proving that Third-World communism is the party now, writ large.

As July begins, Virginians brace for higher gas taxes, hoping that the $68 price of a barrel of crude oil will start to bring the price at the pump back down. However, they will very soon be hit with a 7% increase in their electric bills. Iran? No. Trump tariffs? No. This is because, as Gov. Abigail Spanberger promised the lords of the Green Energy Cabal, Virginia has reentered the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. This is the classic cap-and-trade scheme with a cool new, hip name. Not a week passed after she announced the reentry into the initiative before Dominion filed with the State Corporation Commission for —

The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding tells Iran that Hezbollah survives and Israel leaves. The Trilateral Framework says that Hezbollah disarms and that, until it does, Israel stays in Lebanon. The negotiations with Iran were led by Vice President JD Vance, who never wanted this war and made no secret of his wish to end it cheaply. He produced the Islamabad MOU, the paper Iran's regime wanted to hear. The Trilateral Framework was created by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has spent his career treating Iran's proxy network as a threat to be dismantled rather than soothed.

President Trump will take his new Air Force One for its first flight on Wednesday when he heads to North Dakota to open the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The trip is part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations. The president will also take a train ride, boarding the BNSF Freedom 250 Train as part of the journey to the library site. A ceremonial Rough Riders Troop will accompany the presidential motorcade to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The group on horseback will evoke the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt and the volunteer cavalry regiment that helped define his public image, a White House official told The Post.

The Department of Justice has taken a big, if somewhat unheralded, step to reverse the trend of deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill in America. Earlier in June, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel announced in a memorandum that it would update its treatment of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The section of a law passed by Congress in 1973 prohibited discrimination based on disability by “any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Following the 1999 Supreme Court case Olmstead v. L.C.,

Of 257 Democrats in Congress, just 15 were willing to sign onto a coalition to combat rising socialism and communism. As part of their “Promise to America,” the 15 Democrats declare (among other things): “We are capitalist, not socialist,” “We want safety, not lawlessness,” “We are proud, not ashamed of America.” In other words, more than 90% of congressional Democrats declined to sign onto a statement opposing socialism, at a time when Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates are surging. Yet rather than mount a group effort to stop the growing rise of socialism, most Democrats appear to have no problem with it.

The poll, taken from May 26 through May 28, has a +/-2.7 percentage point margin of error. But there might be an asterisk on the poll, at least as far as the demographic breakdown goes. For instance, as a matter of politics, one group is far more proud to be American than others: Republicans. They tip the scale at 89% proud vs. just 9% not proud. Democrats are least proud (but still a majority): 62% proud, 36% not proud. Independents are slightly more: 64% proud, 29% not proud. What’s behind this? The real dividing line isn’t party affiliation, but ideology. Among those who describe themselves as “conservative,”

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that states can bar transgender female competitors from playing girls’ sports in a landmark decision with major implications for more than half the country, where such policies are in place. In a 6-3 opinion, the high court determined that neither Idaho nor West Virginia had violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment with their bans, as well as that Title IX allowed states to separate sports teams on the basis of biological sex. But the majority opinion by conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh also underscored the importance of treating transgender athletes with respect.

President Trump is seizing on a series of far-left wins in Democratic primaries to paint the opposition party as dangerous “communists” about four months out from midterm elections. The president has never shied away from painting Democrats as far left, but his recent messaging gives Republicans an amped-up blueprint for capitalizing on the progressive left becoming an insurgent force across the country.“They use the word social democrat because it sounds so nice, but it’s really communism you’re talking about,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday when asked about the growing list of left-wing primary wins.

The Supreme Court Has Weakened The Regulatory State 5 replies

In Trump v. Slaughter, published yesterday, the Supreme Court held that the President has plenary (that is, unfettered) authority to fire the heads of regulatory agencies (though not the governors of the Federal Reserve Board, as explained in a note at the end of this post). The decision is hugely consequential. It is both a massive blow to the regulatory state and a huge—albeit precarious—step to returning our nation to function as the Constitution intended. For over a century, ever since President Woodrow Wilson ushered in the “progressive era,” Congress has been creating “independent” agencies that have complete power to write regulations with the force and effect of law,

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said he plans to help build a third political party, claiming the country’s leaders have stopped focusing on the needs of ordinary Americans. Speaking with the Columbia Journalism Review, Carlson said he believes there should be a “good-faith effort” to create a political movement centered on improving life for Americans rather than fighting over foreign conflicts. “I’m going to help build a third party. There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country,” Carlson said. “I mean, if you make $60,000 a year, you’re degraded. Feminism has sold women a very rotten bill of goods. They’ve told them a lie that success means becoming more like men. They’ve been told to climb the same ladders, chase the same titles, enter the same institutions, and prove that anything men can do, women can do just as well, if not better. That’s so untrue and has set women up for a string of massive failures. Meanwhile, the things that actually make women powerful have been treated like backwoods liabilities. Nurturing is now seen as a weakness. Emotional depth is now shameful, and motherhood has been downgraded to something only “trad wives” do. Being the backbone of

Pennsylvania state Rep. Rabb is running unopposed in Pennsylvania’s heavily Democrat 3rd Congressional District and is widely expected to win election to Congress in November. The result comes on the heels of Mayor Zohran Mamdani's socialist sweep in New York City's congressional primaries and shows that left-wing radicalism is not confined to the East Coast. Kiros led DeGette by nearly 10 points with 93 percent of the vote counted early Wednesday morning. Her victory comes a week after a slew of socialists, all backed by Mamdani, swept the primaries in the Big Apple. Like in New York, Kiros will almost certainly secure the House seat,

The victim had been hiking with her boyfriend and her best friend Sunday in Little Big Eco State Forest when they waded into the Econlockhatchee River to cool off, said Grant Eller, a lieutenant with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. They were kneeling in 3-foot-deep water when the alligator suddenly attacked around 1:30 p.m. and bit her arms, Eller said. The victim was later identified as Orlando resident Brittany Clark, wildlife officials said. During the attack,

Diana DeGette facing off against DSA member Melat Kiros. The primary was Tuesday night, and, with 78 percent reporting as of this writing, Decision Desk HQ has called it for Kiros in what may be the biggest primary upset for an incumbent Democrat House member this midterm election cycle. DeGette, 68, is Colorado's longest-serving member of Congress, having been in office since 1997 in a district drawn for Democrat victories.
