For years, a South Florida nursing school operator sold a simple proposition: Skip the schooling, buy the diploma, become a nurse. Nearly 3,000 people took her up on it. On Monday, the scheme caught up with her. Carleen Noreus, 52, of Plantation, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering following a two-week trial in Fort Lauderdale. She had taken her chances before a jury rather than accepting a plea deal, changing her mind mid-trial, a decision prosecutors say will factor in her favor at sentencing.

FTA:
"According to prosecutors, she conspired with others to sell fraudulent nursing diplomas and transcripts to individuals who had never completed the coursework or clinical training required to earn registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or bachelor of science in nursing credentials, and then coached those buyers on how to pass state licensing exams."

And for every fake nurse that caused a death she should be charged with murder...

Where is her money?
Perhaps, the money can fund remedial courses to help the former students who are the victims.

How many died because of her greed?
This should get decades in prison, accessory to negligent homicide, X 100.

No different from truck drivers and many other professions. If you can pass the state licensing exam, you must have learned what you need to know, according to the state. AOC can mix drinks and Jasmine Crockett has a law degree. I wouldn't hire either one of them to do my laundry.

She got away with this for years. Are the nurses coming out of nursing school so inept that no one noticed the difference? I would expected that they would stick out like a sore thumb during the first week.

Slightly off topic, but A licensed physician, Dr. Drew Pinsky, , of celebrity rehab fame, is selling a medical kit on tv, consisting of a variety of antibiotics plus an antiviral. for sel;f diagnosis and treatment.
at least these nurses passed a test.

#7 Do you know how many died during covid for the lack of simple medication?
My cousin had to sneak ivermectin (prescribed by a licensed physician friend of theirs) into the hospital and refuse "doctor recommended" remdesivir that would have killed her husband.
I get my ivermectin from Boca Raton Florida via an online doctor provided by the compound pharmacy.
I take it quarterly to keep parasites beat back, because they are the facilitators of many many cancers.
I have to do this because even though my state made ivermectin available over the counter, the pharmacies are blocking us from getting it.
Regarding the fake nurses, hopefully they are tracking them ALL down and pulling their credentials. Even if they have decent on the job training nursing skills by now, they do not qualify to be a nurse, due to their lack of ethics.

#8, I researched Ivermectin, and am a big fan. The problem with Dr. Drew's medical kit is that it could be dangerous- he advised viewers that if the urgicare is closed, self medicate )ignoring the fact that the local hospital will likely have an er that is open,.)

Shame on the State of Florida Shame on the board of Nursing Shame on the locations hiring them Shame on the Board of Regents. Is it just shows that healthcare is all about money not quality or patient care. HC in USA is third world quality.

Those that purchased these fake degrees are no better than her. They all committed fraud. Each and everyone of them needs to be prosecuted.

Students are not victims if they bought fake nurse certificates. They are also guilty of fraud.

How insulting to those of us who served honestly and honorably as professional nurses.
I definitely agree with #11and #12.

I think I encountered one or two of her “graduates” on the graveyard shift during one of my overnight hospital stays. But then again there are the “nurses” and “doctors” from Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ghana, India, etc.
By the way, Prosecutors should be excoriated for their gross overuse of the infamous, “plea deal.” That’s just the lazy way out whereby every criminal knows they can commit the crime and when caught, play “Wheel of Misfortune” and usually avoid 25% to 40% of their sentence, and the DA’s office looks at it as a win for their budget when they can avoid complicated trials by jury. It’s pure laziness.

Re #5, Sandy Cortez was a barmaid, taking orders and delivering drinks to the customers. It's resume inflation to call her a bar tender. She never was.
