Trump on Meet the Press, and the Weaponization Fund

President Trump was on Meet the Press this morning, and his interview with Kristen Welker turned incendiary when Welker attacked Trump over the proposed fund to compensate victims of government weaponization. Welker, of course, wanted to talk about the January 6, 2021 protest, the most over-hyped news story on record. But Trump wasn’t having it, and the conversation turned to election integrity. Welker insisted that there is no evidence of rigged elections, despite what is happening right now in California. Trump finally walked out. Here is the last portion of the interview. I wonder:

Trump gave Welker an absurdly long interview, which did nothing but regurgitate everything already said. There is nothing that can be done to help Welker. Give it up.

LONDON — For the second time in a week, a top Trump administration official has publicly criticized Europe over migration levels, the latest in a series of attacks aimed at political leaders on the continent. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth used a speech marking the anniversary of D-Day in France on Saturday, commemorating 82 years since the 1944 push to liberate Nazi-occupied Europe, to lambast what he described as another “invasion” of Europe’s shores. “Sadly, today, different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies,” Hegseth said at the event in Normandy. “Beaches in Spain, in Italy, in Greece and Bulgaria.

To earn of the last minutes of Henry Nowak’s life would be shocking and distressing under any circumstances. The stabbed teenager begged officers for help, as they handcuffed him before realising their mistake. To watch those final moments, on the police body-cam footage released this week, is all the more immediate, and unbearable. The outrage is widely shared. But the way it has been weaponised is alarming. His family’s wish is for his legacy to be a renewed effort to reduce knife crime, not increased antagonism along racial and religious lines. Instead, the unscrupulous are using the power of the footage and the speed of social media to spread myths

Bereen Dzayee, 25, of Lakeside, California, was arrested Friday on federal terrorism charges. Neighbors and a former classmate identified him as a former U.S. Navy sailor. Prosecutors allege he proposed using drones to target U.S. Special Forces and helped fund a scheme involving rocket-propelled grenades and UAVs intended for attacks on American servicemembers overseas. The FBI arrested Dzayee along with Bisaam Ghafoor, 21, of Leawood, Kansas, and Elias Shamsaldeen, 21, of Porterville, California. The three are charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIS after allegedly spending more than a year discussing attacks, raising money, and expressing support for the terrorist organization.

Israel conducted strikes on military targets in western and central Iran early Monday local time, the Israeli military announced, escalating a conflict that had already broken through the ceasefire just hours earlier when Iran fired multiple waves of missiles at Israel on Sunday. The strikes came despite a direct phone call from President Trump to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him not to retaliate immediately for the Iranian missile attack. A senior U.S. official told the Associated Press, on condition of anonymity to describe a private call, that Trump believed he had convinced Netanyahu to wait. Israel struck anyway.

California is well known for driving its productive citizens to other states. A proposed new 'billionaire tax,' that's coming up on the November ballot has already driven many of its most successful citizens -- Peter Thiel, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg, Stephen Spielberg -- to other states like Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Nevada, any place where the greedy hand of the state is not fixing to take another dip into their pockets. The Wall Street Journal last week noticed something weird: A lot of them are moving to nearby Nevada ... and they're seemingly losing money by buying up properties around Lake Tahoe at inflated prices.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has overtaken former reality TV personality Spencer Pratt for the second spot in the Los Angeles mayoral runoff, according to updated vote totals released Sunday by the LA County Registrar-Recorder. Raman, a progressive Democrat representing the city’s 4th Council District, now holds 27.12% of the counted ballots. Pratt, a registered Republican who ran on a law-and-order platform, sits at 26.69%. The gap stands at 3,113 votes. Decision Desk HQ projected Sunday that Raman had secured the second of two spots in the nonpartisan primary, which advances the top two finishers to the November 3 general election regardless of party.

Apparently, the bravest, most important man in America, fired CBS journalist Scott Pelley, sat down for an interview with New York Times podcast host Lulu Garcia-Navarro that aired Sunday (and taped Friday). The police force involved in the death of Henry Nowak sought to falsely cast the British teenager as the aggressor in the incident that led to his killing before seeking to intervene to lecture the public about “disinformation”, a report from the Times of London has claimed. The Hampshire police force has come under heavy criticism for the response of its officers during the murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak on December of last year by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa with a traditional Sikh knife. Bodycam footage released earlier this week showed an officer handcuffing the teen as he pleaded that he could not breathe

Decision Desk HQ made the call Saturday night after several days of vote counting: Democrats are out of California's 40th Congressional District. Rep. Young Kim advanced out of the primary alongside Rep. Ken Calvert, and November will be a Republican-versus-Republican. California voters passed Proposition 50 last year, redrawing the state's congressional maps. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) was the driving force behind it, and the stated goal was flipping Republican seats. The new 40th was supposed to be one of them. The plan was to jam two Republican incumbents into the same district, let them bloody each other, and walk in and take the seat.

Spencer Pratt’s once-comfortable lead in the Los Angeles mayoral primary has been slashed yet again — as a fresh batch of ballots delivered another major boost to progressive City Councilmember Nithya Raman in their race to the November runoff. New results released Saturday show Pratt’s advantage over Raman shrinking to just 7,494 votes, down from more than 20,000 a day earlier. Roughly 78% of the ballots had been counted as of Saturday. Raman picked up 23,514 votes in the latest count, more than double Pratt’s gain of 10,336. Her share of the vote jumped from 24.9% to 26.2%, while Pratt slipped from 28.2% to 27.3%.

Donald Trump slammed Barack Obama's new $850 million presidential library, with a photoshopped prediction that it would be surrounded by homeless camps within ten years. A 'giant trash can' is just one of the unflattering comparisons the new center has been called ahead of its opening on the South Side of Chicago on June 19. And Trump weighed in by posting a photo of the library with a garbage bag on top and homeless encampments surrounding it to Truth Social on Saturday. Trump wrote over the AI-generated image: 'The Barack Hussein Obama Library, in 10 years, when fully matured!'
