An alleged gunman remains on the loose in an active shooter situation on the campus of Brown University, school officials said after retracting an announcement that they had arrested a suspect. The Rhode Island Ivy League school sent out a first alert to students on campus shortly after 4:20 p.m. of an active shooter near the Barus & Holley Engineering school building. One suspect in custody. Lock doors, silence phones and stay hidden until further notice,” the university wrote in a second emergency alert just before 5 p.m. Saturday before retracting the statement minutes later.

I guess they must assume that everyone knows where Brown University is. I have no idea, not even what state, let alone what city. Somewhere in the "I never go there" NE, I suppose.

An alleged gunman? They certainly have enough injured and dead citizens to conclude, that, yes, there was a gunman. I get a little irritated at the media types overplaying their Perry Mason act. Just get us the facts, and stay inside the lines when you color them.

Can I state the obvious. Brown U is in Rhode Island for those that don't know. RI hates guns. They are probably lobbying Congress right now for stricter gun laws. I am looking right at you Gabby Giffords. Brown U. has released 0 information on a shooting that happened six hours ago and killed two and wounded eight.

Unredacted photos of President Trump from the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s estate — which oddly blurred the faces of women he posed with — reveal he was standing with “adult women models,” according to exclusive images obtained by The Post. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released a trove of images from Epstein’s estate Friday, including two shots of the president with women whose faces were blacked out — fueling speculation they could be the disgraced financier’s victims. But a pair of pictures obtained exclusively by The Post show Trump standing next to beautiful grown women.

Welcome to "The New Monroe Doctrine," where I give you an update on what's going on in the Western Hemisphere, south of our border, especially as it relates to the United States. There is a lot going on in our big, beautiful hemisphere this week. Latin America, in particular, is giving us lots of telenovela vibes. It's had everything from comedy to drama to adventure — Hollywood only wishes it could come up with stories like this. Because there are so many things to cover — and because I'm sick and wasn't even sure if I'd be able to get this out on Friday evening —

Journalist Scott Pelley has been a mainstay at CBS News, and someone whom people might know as a correspondent on 60 Minutes, though he was once anchor of the network's national evening news. On Friday, he picked up one of the 2025 Walter Cronkite Awards, which are given out "biennially by the USC [University of Southern California] Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism." This year's submissions theme, which is plenty progressive, is unlikely to shock readers: I think it's crucial to acknowledge the baseline tone of the event before we proceed. More on what Pelley had to say in a minute.

For even those of us who live the life of the mind it is necessary to have holidays. For me, holidays take the form not of travelling somewhere, but of thinking-about-something-else. So I went on holiday last week. Yes, indeed, I listened to about 10 hours of The Rest is Politics. You know, the famous podcast with Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell. And I did so, friends, not in the spirit of calumny or condemnation. There are several things one can do with The Rest is Politics. Let me list them: Listen to it on a weekly or daily basis:

California Governor Gavin Newsom recently appeared on the podcast of New York Times columnist Ezra Klein. During the episode, in addition to saying that he ‘wants to see trans kids’ Newsom talked about providing healthcare for illegal aliens in his state. Ezra Klein followed up their discussion by tweeting about it, but in his tweet he says two things that completely contradict each other. He begins by saying that Trump lies about Democrats wanting healthcare for illegals. Then he says triumphantly that Gavin Newsom is actually doing it!

Conservatives spend a lot of time debating how to counter the power of the liberal media. Some say build new platforms. Others say to fight bias on the ones that already exist. But there is one simple step that almost everyone on the Right should agree on: stop letting Washington handicap conservative broadcasters. A single outdated FCC TV ownership cap, dating back to the 1940s, is doing just that, limiting TV station groups to reaching no more than 39 percent of U.S. television households. That number was invented in a different era, when most people had only a few channels and no internet or streaming.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard appears on Fox News to discuss the Trump administrations’ effort to track down, capture and remove a reported 18,000 known and documented terrorists who crossed the southern border and entered the U.S. during the Biden administration. There are several elements to this issue, and unfortunately the aspect that pertains to identifying them and locating them works to enhance the argument of those who support govt surveillance. In fact, both the use of Palantir track and trace technology in combination with the FISA-702 reauthorization come into play here.

To recap briefly, the conflict between county residents and library officials began in 2021, when, responding to public complaints, the Llano County library removed 17 controversial books from its shelves, including these children’s books: Freakboy; Freddy the Farting Snowman; and Being Jazz: My Life As a Transgender Teen. A group of patrons then sued, alleging the library had illegally banned the books. At first, the case was going the plaintiffs’ way. In 2023, the federal district court sided with the patrons, ruling the library violated their right to receive information under the Free Speech Clause and ordering the books to be put back on the shelves.

As many RedState readers know, among the lawmakers was Arizona's senior senator, Mark Kelly, and it was Kelly whom the Pentagon singled out for a review for "serious allegations of misconduct.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth ordered the Navy through a memorandum in late Nov. to take a long look into it, and submit a report with their findings/recommended actions.

One of the biggest whoppers Democrats told during the Schumer Shutdown was that they were not fighting for taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegals as part of the demands they wanted to be met to end the shutdown. Federal law prohibits the use of Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Affordable Care Act to provide health insurance in any way, shape, or form to undocumented immigrants—period, full stop. Democrats aren’t trying to change that," Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) proclaimed at the time. The left wants her dead. Tina Peters has been found guilty on state charges and is serving time in a state prison, so the presidential pardon will not result in her immediate release. Last week, a magistrate judge dismissed Tina Peter’s habeas corpus petition seeking an early release from prison. President Trump’s close friend, former schoolmate, and attorney, Peter Ticktin, recently wrote in a letter that Tina Peters has been attacked three times by other inmates.

Donors were checked out, interest was nonexistent, and the whole thing smelled like a vanity project nobody wanted to fund. Now, a New York Times article confirms what was painfully obvious from the start — Biden's library is turning into an epic fundraising disaster. The numbers are embarrassing. According to the report, Biden's library foundation received no new donations in 2024, the final year of his presidency. All of its initial funding — a measly $4 million — came from leftover cash from Biden's 2021 inauguration, not from donors eager to immortalize his
