Two-Tier Taxes

Original Article

What we increasingly observe from today’s taxation system is a financial form of ‘anarcho-tyranny’: punishing the habitually law-abiding in ever harsher ways for petty infringements, whilst letting the habitually law-breaking get away with whatever they like. Think of fining a doddery pensioner £500 for accidentally dropping a sweet-wrapper, whilst letting criminal gypsies get away with burning entire mounds of toxic waste. Do comparable two-tier standards now exist in the UK taxation system too? Yes, just somewhat more invisibly than a giant flaming waste-pile burning next to some static caravans on an illegally occupied school playing-field.

In response to the Trump Administration's tariffs aimed at reshoring American manufacturing, Stellantis this fall announced $13 billion in new investment in U.S. operations. Spread across Midwest plants in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana, the investment – the largest in company history - is estimated to create over 5,000 jobs across all four of the transatlantic manufacturer's American brands (Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler) plus an additional 20,000 jobs at Stellantis suppliers. "I'm extremely ecstatic about it. Without these tariffs, this probably wouldn't have happened," said Eric Graham, president of United Auto Workers Local 140 representing workers at Michigan's Warren Truck, which stands to gain two new vehicles,

The Trump administration has shot back at a Washington Post article claiming the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) watered down its policy prohibiting the display of Nazi swastikas, with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) calling the report “a demonstrably false storyline.” “The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika — an emblem of fascism and white supremacy inextricably linked to the murder of millions of Jews and the deaths of more than 400,000 U.S. troops who died fighting in World War II — as a hate symbol, according to a new policy that takes effect next month,” WaPo‘s Tara Copp and Michelle Boorstein wrote Thursday.

The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution on Monday in support of President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan in Gaza, and Trump has been named chairman of the Board of Peace. The resolution passed the council 13-0-2, endorsing the president’s plan, which Hamas agreed to on October 8 and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially endorsed in a signing with Trump on October 13. Congratulations to the World on the incredible Vote of the United Nations Security Council, just moments ago, acknowledging and endorsing the BOARD OF PEACE, which will be chaired by me,

The late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein texted compliments and advice to a Democrat member of Congress while she questioned President Donald Trump’s former attorney in a February 2019 hearing, newly released documents reveal. Thousands of pages of emails, texts, and other documents from Epstein’s estate were released last Wednesday by the House Oversight Committee, uncovering shocking communication between the convicted predator and Del. Stacey Plaskett (D) of the U.S. Virgin Islands as she prepared to question Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-lawyer-turned-critic.

Gov. Kathy Hochul thought endorsing Zohran Mamdani would win over his supporters; instead they’re now threatening to oust her if she doesn’t cave to their demands. Oops. If Hochul blocks tax hikes on the rich to fund “universal child care,” warned state Sen. Jabari Brisport at a “Tax the Rich” rally Sunday, “she has to go.” Brisport complains she’s shot down such plans twice before; “If you get a third strike, you’re out,” he threatened, to wild applause. Another tax-the-rich crowd booed Hochul — to her face — when she took the stage at a Mamdani event with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders a few weeks ago.
Why Most Arab Countries Do Not Want Palestinians 11 replies

[C]ountries such as Jordan and Lebanon had extremely negative experiences with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and other Palestinian armed groups who were trying to overthrow or destabilize their governments (Black September in Jordan in 1970 and the Lebanese Civil War 1975-1990). Arab leaders often make strong statements, issue condemnations of Israeli actions, and attend high-profile summits that express solidarity with the Palestinians. Their gestures, however -- apart from Iran and Qatar -- are often not matched by decisive steps... The refusal of the Arab countries to absorb Palestinians (including the ex-prisoners) is...

A protest in Mexico City on Saturday resulted in injuries to over 100 police officers and at least 20 arrests. The protests, led largely by young Gen-Zers, were aimed at addressing corruption and safety concerns. The anti-government sentiment has been brewing, and the protest is thought to have been spurred by the recent assassination of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo. Our former Townhall colleague, independent journalist Julio Rosas, was on scene, documenting Saturday's unrest and sharing video to his X feed.

The head of the US Department of Agriculture said the Trump administration is planning to have “everyone” receiving SNAP benefits reapply after a probe into a bulk of Republican-led states allegedly found 186,000 cases of fraud. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins alleged that fraud was running rampant around the embattled Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), claiming “186,000 deceased men and women and children in this country are receiving a check” in 29 red states alone. “Can you imagine when we get our hands on the blue state data what we’re going to find?” she asked on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight.”

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki got spooked and walked back her statement calling President Trump a predator amid the Democrats’ Epstein email hoax. On Wednesday morning, the Democrats’ Committee on Oversight released a “tranche of correspondence” from the Epstein Estate, claiming to “strike a blow against the White House’s Epstein cover-up.” The three unrelated emails range in dates from 2011 through 2019. The selectively leaked emails suggested President Trump spent ‘hours’ with an Epstein trafficking victim.

Others say it’s ideological, or a desperate battle between center-left Democrats and the crazy left. I am not sure what to call it, but they sure are angry over there. Well, we saw the first battle over the shutdown, and now get ready for the next episode over free buses. Wasserman Schultz said, “This is a deeply concerning situation, but, you know, it’s one that I think we have to — it begs the question, would an individual have flown across the country to target law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C.? She further complained that Christian pastors and prayer groups have “proximity to power” in the Legislature and that religion is often at the center of the state’s politics. “And I think, especially as someone who is more secular, I have a hard time when religion is at the core of everything we do in the Legislature. President Trump went on a fiery late-night tirade in clear response to the recent terrorist attack on the National Guard, announcing a significant crackdown on immigration from all third-world countries, terminating all illegal entries into the country under the Biden administration, and declaring the only way to save America now is through "reverse migration." Trump's screed comes in the wake of an ambush attack on two members of the Guard in Washington, D.C., and just hours after the President made the heartbreaking announcement to the nation that one of the victims, 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, had succumbed to her injuries. New Jersey governor-elect Mikie Sherrill (D.) turned to former energy secretary Jennifer Granholm, an architect of Biden-era green energy policies—which polls show are unpopular with Garden State voters—to co-chair her transition team’s energy task force. The governor-elect’s energy team is a quasi-reunion of Biden administration alumni—in addition to Granholm, former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) member Allison Clements will serve as its other co-chair. It’s a signal that although Sherrill ran to the middle on energy issues during her gubernatorial campaign, she is prepared to govern as a climate hawk. Granholm and Clements have a long history of supporting far-left policies, such as EV mandates, gas stove bans, and expensive

The left has totally succumbed to Trump Derangement Syndrome, so much so that it’s difficult to look at them as serious players in the political arena as they ramble on with one inane analogy after another. (Snip) One such example of this strategy is Trump’s efforts to build a sorely needed White House ballroom. But few have gone down the rabbit hole as deep as CNN contributor Tiffany Cross, who dared to say, “This sounds to me like someone is building a structure that he does not plan on leaving, and that’s something we need to start taking very seriously.”

Charlie Sheen is not known for holding back. But a recent conversation with Megyn Kelly offered something rare from a Hollywood figure: humility, self-reflection, and a willingness to admit he might have been wrong. Kelly asked Sheen this past weekend if he had grown more comfortable discussing his increasingly right-leaning views, especially given his father Martin Sheen’s long-standing ties to Hollywood’s leftist elitism. Sheen, who is promoting a book, said that he had. He told Kelly that many people, himself included, remain “beholden to the structure of the house that we were raised in.” Sheen then divulged some truth about the left’s policies, not only in his native California, but everywhere run by Democrats.
