A Boeing
Dreamliner plane bound for London with 242 people aboard crashed Thursday moments after takeoff from Ahmedabad in western India.
Video posted on social media appeared to show the jetliner descending followed by a fireball and a dark plume of smoke. It appeared to be the first fatal crash of a Boeing Dreamliner.
“It appears there are no survivors in the plane crash,” G.S. Malik, the police commissioner for Ahmedabad, told The Associated Press, adding that “some locals would have also died” when the plane crashed into a residential area where offices were also located. “Exact figures on casualties are being ascertained,” he said.

Looks very suspicious, like a complete loss of thrust and control at the perfect time to cause the most damage. Pretty much a worst case incident. Maybe it was aimed at someone? Were there any Pakis on board?

From the video it does not look like the flaps are extended for takeoff.

Incredibly, a survivor has been found.
A lot of plane crashes come down to pilot error, company take shortcuts with safety and other reasons without getting into terrorism. It takes time to analyze the wreckage to determine what happened, so I'm keeping an open mind about the cause for now.

The Company that builds this JUNK needs to be named Boing Boing...the sad reality is the planes do not bounce, they Crash and Murder the passengers, crew and those unluck enough to be on ground zero!

A lot of things are being done in the cockpit during the transition from takeoff configuration to climb configuration.
My first thought is that somebody pushed the wrong button and misconfigured the aircraft and then didn't understand what they had done in timr.

A very, very common error is what I call "clean wing error" for takegf.
To fly at the low speeds of takeoff or landing, there are flaps that extend from the front and back of the wings to increase the wing are by about 50% and make the wind produce much more lift.
Forgetting the 'flaps and slats' leaves the wings in their high speed configuration, incapable of producing enough lift at the lower speeds during takeoff.
This error is made about once every couple of years, with a crash right off the end of the runway.
If this is what happened, they would not be able to climb beyond "ground effect", about the wingspan of the aircraft.
The orange boxes will tell the story.

Videos on X show clearly that the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) was deployed. This occurs automatically when both engines fail, resulting in the loss of electrical and hydraulic power. Something cut off both engines. They would not have sufficient hydraulic power to raise the flaps or gear quickly.

Yeah , the aircraft wasnt getting any lift. The nose going up just before impact tells the moment of panic but it was too late.

Pilot error? It looks from the video they took off with the wing flaps completely up, and after take off kept their landing gear down, thus creating insufficient lift, and a lot of drag, with the aircraft very heavily loaded with fuel, passengers, and baggage? Only time will tell!
