AT&T has experienced a massive personal data breach, so if you’re one of the more than 100 million people who use the company, you’ll want to be on guard. According to a new report from Hack Read, more than 86 million customers have been affected with leaked details ranging from full names to dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses and physical addresses. It’s reported that more than 44 million Social Security Numbers were also included in the data leak. While each of these data sets poses privacy risks on their own, together they could create full identity profiles that could be exploited for fraud or identity theft.

Comments:

Store personal data in the 'cloud'? Of course, if you have accounts with ATT or any other, they have your vital data already.

It's long past the time when a one-way cipher at least as strong as RSA was implemented to protect that data from being read without proper permission.

My personal information has been leaked so many times I might as well have an airplane sky write it. One of my banks keeps sending me stuff via the Post Office. The letters I get state on the envelope that electronic communications has been requested. These letters have my name, address, account nos, etc. Ever thing a thief would need to steal everything I've got. Piggy banks have more security. And, yes, I am an ATT customer.

It’s all about cost control. After hurricane Ida someone stole a trailer mounted diesel generator that was parked on my block to run their switching equipment. Guy told me they requested hitch locks but was told to ask in the next fiscal year.

FTA: To check if your information was leaked in that breach, you can check through Pentester, a cybersecurity firm, by going to npd.pentester.com and entering your information If I enter my information at Pentester, then Pentester has my information, no?

I did go to Pentester and entered some info and they report that my data was compromised. So I changed my long/complicated passwords (provided by apple's password management subsystem). I have a small number of logins that involve money, so I went to each of those and changed my password. I own some real estate in FL registered with the county and I can check that later to see if anyone is messing with my title. Probably the county there has the least sophisticated security of all the institutions I deal with. Same for my property in TX. Perhaps I am naïve, but at least with real estate, nobody can pickup my property and haul it off.

The second anyone demanded our social security numbers for identification, we were compromised. For most of us that was decades ago. Carelessness, hacking, whatever. Once the info is out there it will be found and exploited. I've been notified of mine at least three times in the last ten years, and it was federal agencies that lost it. Luckily for me I'm so broke there is nothing to steal.

Such gross incompetence should result in the Board of Directors sending the CEO a pinkslip, HOWEVER, this IS corporate America, after all, where the Chairman of the Board handpicks the Directors from among his own friend-group, who then selects the CEO... who turns out to be the current Chairman of the Board! Such a miracle! American corpocracy is inevitably insidiously incestuous.

This clip says it all—and it’s beyond astounding—the level of insanity, the detachment from reality, and the smugness. Everything we know and hate about white progressives was captured in this 35-second clip. Savanah Hernandez of Frontlines, Turning Points USA’s media arm, was on the ground in New York City, the site of another anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unrest, where a horde of white crunchy liberals blocked the road because that’s what these people do. That’s when a black mother on her way to work got laughed at by these people, who told her the children of illegal aliens matter more.

Los Angeles has been embroiled in anti-ICE riots for the last couple of days. Yet what you got from the local officials was failed action. The first statement from Mayor Bass on Friday was encouraging the bad actors. DHS said their building was surrounded, and it took the police two hours to respond to their calls.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health lifted its recommendation to stay inside on Friday after air quality concerns arose following a three-alarm fire that engulfed multiple SEPTA buses at a yard in the Nicetown section of Philadelphia on Thursday. On Friday, SEPTA officials also said an electrical fire caused by a battery in one of the electric buses started the blaze. The buses caught fire at the agency's Midvale depot located off Roberts Avenue, around 6:15 a.m. Thursday. SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said all of the buses had been decommissioned and were in the process of being sold or scrapped. Sauer said among the 40 damaged buses, 15 of them were electric.

If you’re the media, you call it a “mostly peaceful protest.” Normal people might call it an “insurrection.” But “insurrection” is not quite right, either. “Insurrection” implies a violent revolt against the government by its own citizens, not violence by uninvited foreigners who refuse to leave.
