This accusation, coming from from a close ally who was once at the heart of the administration, has unleashed a political storm and raises a disturbing question: Can Colombia be led by someone whose ability to govern is in serious doubt?
On April 22, 2025, Álvaro Leyva, a veteran conservative politician who served as Petro's foreign minister from August 2022 until May 2024, sent a letter to the president, which was officially received by the Presidency at 1:52 pm.
In the four-page document, Leyva does not hold back in his criticism. He accuses Petro of erratic behavior, incoherent speeches, and a disconnect with his cabinet, but the most severe blow

A federal grand jury has indicted seven foreign nationals — all illegal aliens — for a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy involving money laundering, drug trafficking proceeds, and illegal firearm possession.
The charges stem from a years-long operation allegedly run by Jose Malagon Castro, a Mexican national who brazenly operated three grocery stores in Kentucky as fronts for laundering dirty cartel cash, according to the Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Kentucky.
His employees—Yeimi, Kenia, and Kelin Hernandez Barahona (all Honduran nationals) and Suri Rosmeri Hernandez Del Cid (from Guatemala)—allegedly helped wire drug proceeds back to Mexico, fueling the cartels that profit off America’s open borders. According to the indictment,

With the average cost of a new car edging toward the $50,000 mark, affordable, basic transportation is becoming increasingly difficult for many Americans.
Slate, a new EV startup backed by Jeff Bezos, believes its new $25,000 pickup truck, which could cost less than $20,000 with tax credits, could help change that, its CEO, Chris Barman, told Business Insider.
"There's a massive population of people out there when it comes to safe, reliable, affordable transportation; there just really aren't many alternatives for them," Barman said in an interview ahead of the unveiling of the new EV this week.
A $25,000 price point would mean achieving something

A major power outage has been reported in Spain and Portugal, including their capitals.
Spanish generator RedElectrica said Monday the Iberian peninsula was affected. It said the incident is being assessed and responded to.
It is rare to have such a widespread outage on the peninsula.
The countries have a combined population of over 50 million people. It was not immediately clear how many people are affected.
Spain´s public broadcaster RTVE said a major power outage hit several regions of the country at around 12:30 p.m. local time, leaving its newsroom, Spain´s parliament in Madrid and metro stations across the country in the dark.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order Monday that ensures truckers are adept at speaking English, America’s official language, Breitbart News can reveal.
A White House document on the expected executive order, reviewed by Breitbart News, aims to ensure those operating a commercial vehicle in the United States are qualified and proficient English speakers.
“President Trump believes that English is a non-negotiable safety requirement for professional drivers, as they should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officers, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station personnel, and provide and receive feedback and directions in English,”

You know the adage, "Don't shoot yourself in the foot"? That's exactly what New Yorkers are doing by pouring their tax dollars into the Legal Aid Society. It should be called the Illegal Aid Society. It's 99% publicly funded -- with your state and local tax dollars -- and its chief business is litigating and lobbying to force changes in the law that will benefit criminals and handcuff the police. Sadly, it's been quite successful. I sat down with Gotham's longest-serving police commissioner, Ray Kelly, on Monday to get his take on the damage done. "The Legal Aid Society seems hell-bent on ignoring the plight of the victim

Today’s moment of schadenfreudelicious zen comes from Bloomberg. Pour a delicious cup of coffee, sit in the comfy chair, and read on:
With Pride festivals and parades fast approaching, organizers in major US cities are scrambling to make up hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost corporate sponsorships.
Many are tapping smaller businesses and local communities to ensure their signature annual events proceed as planned. But they say the shortfalls are cutting into funding to support other LGBTQ programs throughout the year — and their long-term viability.
Over in Minnesota, Andi Otto, Executive Director of Twin Cities Pride, argues, “We spend our money as a community in these

Democrats spent years insisting that there was no border crisis, but the American people saw the truth with their own eyes. Illegal immigration became a driving issue in the 2024 election and helped propel Trump back into the White House. Yet despite the message from voters, Democrats still haven’t learned their lesson. They continue to prioritize the interests of illegal immigrants over their own constituents and stubbornly deny the very real crisis that President Trump is working to fix.
President Donald Trump just turned their denial into an epic display of truth that has liberal heads exploding across Washington. In a masterful trolling of the open-borders crowd, the White House lawn

Trump administration 'Border Czar' Tom Homan told CBS News that in the case of a mother deported to Honduras with her US-born child, "having a U.S. citizen child after you enter this country illegally is not a get out of jail free card -- it doesn't make you immune from our laws."
"When you enter the country illegally, and you know you're here illegally, and you choose to have a U.S. citizen child, that's on you," he said.
Margaret Brennan, CBS News: Well, let's talk about what's happening on the interior. On Friday, there were three American citizen children, born here, who were deported along with their mothers from Louisiana

ABC News’ Senior Political Correspondent Rachel Scott promoted the importance of “accuracy” in journalism after winning the White House Correspondents Association award for reporting under deadline pressure on Sunday. The award and $2,500 cash prize was for her live television coverage of the July 13 assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which he was shot in the ear.
“Journalism at its core is the act of bearing witness. We in this room are not just storytellers. We are also witnesses to history, and that comes with a deep responsibility to report with clarity, accuracy and integrity, even moments of panic and distress,”

Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker, apparently beginning his quest for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, called for “mass protests” and “destruction” in an evident attempt to outflank any other prospective candidate in rhetoric targeting the Trump administration.
An average of recent polls of prospective 2028 Democratic presidential candidates found that former Vice President Kamala Harris led with 27.1%, followed by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 16.1%, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) at 12.9%, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker at 8.6%, and California Governor Gavin Newsom at 7.9%. Pritzker ranked 10th with 3.2%.

President Trump will sign a sweeping “law and order” executive order Monday to overhaul policies that he says hamstring police and prevent the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, The Post has learned.
The bucket of seven major reforms, outlined in an administration document, includes instructing the Justice Department to “create a mechanism to provide legal resources and indemnification for officers facing unjust expenses from official duties, including pro bono assistance.”
The order also seeks to “increase surplus military assets for local law enforcement” — which Democratic administrations have curtailed — and calls for authorities to “pursue legal action against state or local officials obstructing criminal or immigration law enforcement,”
