Journalism’s Cruel Dilemma

Original Article

“Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn’t know because they might reflect badly on Democrats.” Blogger Sean Medlock (a.k.a. Jim Treacher) posted that jibe on Twitter back in 2014, and not much has changed since then, except that today the American press finds itself in the middle of a slow-motion cataclysm. Where all the debris finally settles is anybody’s guess, but one thing that’s been blasted for sure is the media’s credibility with the public. Fewer than one in three respondents to a Gallup poll now say they trust the media’s reporting “a great deal” or a “fair amount.” It’s a poll the Gallup organization

Frankly, I don't think it matters at all what the jerknos do or don't do. They have journalistic toxicity. People who have determined (2/3 of those polled) that they have no faith in the LegAcy MEdia have already found alternate news sources. Knowing that the LAME have fluidly lied to you for years and continue to do so, WHAT would it take for you to trust them again? Why would you even extend them another chance. You don't need them. Their reputation was their most valuable commodity and they murdered it. People had grown up with these news sources and were programmed to read/watch them and their actions shattered the programming. Many companies have failed to recognize the end of their usefulness, didn't adapt, and died. That's where the LAME are inexorably headed.

As a former newspaperman, I actually hate to see this. Back in my day ( long time ago). I watched the AP which was our national news feed, move to the left. Locally, we were balanced but the AP became an organ of the left and the Democrats. I still subscribe partly because of loyalty, partly because of local coverage, sports, city council meetings etc and I simply like to read something I can hold and read off paper. If things don't change, most of the big dailys will shrink, cut their publishing days (ours is now only 4 days a week) or go out of business.

#4~ As someone drawn to journalism early in life but not pursuing it as a career, your career in journalism and dedication to the adherence of journalism being a public trust is admired, respected, and sincerely appreciated. Thank you! The “Five W’s - Plus Sixth” that constituted true/valid news reports was undermined and nullified not only when “opinion” was interspersed with “news reports” but also with the decision to select/censor what to publish and what to withhold from publication for a specific purpose such as a political party, person, project, society and so forth. Valid news reporting consists of Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. In the past, opinions were labeled as such and not inserted so liberally into valid news reporting until, possibly, around the 1960s. Without doing extensive research, speculate that “opinion” began more frequently slipping into “news reporting” with the onset of national nightly television news and news anchors. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why today’s journalists are no longer trusted and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine how to begin restoring credibility to journalism; it is very simple: start telling the truth, tell both sides of issues, do not commit the sins of commission and omission by selective editing, stop inserting “opinion” into news reporting. Stop insulting American citizens by denying them their own intelligence to understand the news by having to explain (opinion) the news! Walter Williams (1864-1935) was an American journalist and educator who founded the first journalism school at the University of Missouri and later served as the university’s president, often referred to as “The Father of Journalism Education.” In 1914 he wrote a personal affirmation of journalism ethics, “The Journalist’s Creed”. [Wikipedia] (Snippets) “THE JOURNALIST’S CREED” – Walter Williams (1914) “I believe in the profession of Journalism. “I believe that the public journal is a public trust; that all connected with it are, to the full measure of responsibility, trustees for the public; that all acceptance of lesser service than the public service is a betrayal of this trust. “I believe that suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible. “I believe that the journalism which succeeds the best--and best deserves success--fears God and honors man; is stoutly independent; unmoved by pride of opinion or greed of power; constructive, tolerant but never careless, self-controlled, patient, always respectful of its readers but always unafraid, is quickly indignant at injustice; is unswayed by the appeal of the privilege or the clamor of the mob; seeks to give every man a chance, ...” A powerful, meaningful quotation by President Theodore Roosevelt speaks to the reality of journalism: “The power of the journalist is great, but he is entitled neither to respect nor admiration because of that power unless it is used aright.” [President Theodore Roosevelt]

Joe Biden and the Dem apparat around him have made it plain: They are going to do as much damage to America as they can on the way out the door. Last week brought a record number of presidential pardons, including 1,500 commutations of the sentences of “nonviolent” felons, most of whom were already serving their sentences at home after being sprung from prison during COVID. Except the White House upped the count by overlooking some truly heinous offenses: a Pennsylvania judge who took bribes to send kids to a for-profit “detention” center; an Illinois clerk who embezzled over $53 million from a town of just 15,000 people;

Han said he would make his utmost efforts to ensure stability after Yoon’s impeachment. “I will give all my strength and efforts to stabilize the government,” Han told reporters.

President-elect Donald J. Trump is Time’s Person of the Year. CNN’s Scott Jennings explained why that’s the case while delving into the superpower that the 47th president of the United States holds: the man is the destroyer of narratives. Trump has been slapped with over 100 criminal charges, had two attempts on his life, a Justice Department hell-bent on throwing him in jail, and endured a sustained media smear campaign for years. He still won the 2024 election. We’ve all heard the same chorus from the liberal media: The hush money case is going to take down Donald Trump, or Kamala Harris is the greatest candidate

President Joe Biden commuted the sentence of a woman who was sentenced to 15 years in prison over conspiring to manufacture and distribute an altered and more potent version of fentanyl. A White House press release on Thursday revealed that Biden is pardoning 39 people and commuting the sentences of 1,499 people. Among the list of people who had their sentences commuted was Wendy Hechtman. A press release from the United States Attorney’s Office District of Nebraska from November 2017 revealed that Hechtman and her husband, Ken, along with two other people, were charged “in a three count indictment.”

A New Jersey police department has sparked concern after it revealed that a drone it sent up to track a mystery aircraft 'easily' evaded their device before disappearing into thin air. Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said his force launched its drone after one of his officers saw 50 unmanned aerial vehicles, 'coming off the ocean'. The officer dialed 911 to alert state police, the FBI and the Coast Guard. The maritime agency then reported seeing spotted 13 drones following their boat, estimating that the devices had a wingspan of eight feet. Matronardy told NewsNation's Rich McHugh the force put up an 'industrial grade' drone to follow one of the devices,
