Appeals court judges shine light on Tish

Consumer protection law is designed to protect the public from unscrupulous business schemes. It was never intended to make state bureaucrats the arbiter of every transaction between private parties, much less sophisticated financial actors. That was the distinct message that arose out of last week’s appeals court hearing in state Attorney General Letitia James’ unabashedly politicized civil fraud case against Donald Trump. As readers will recall, Judge Arthur Engoron, an elected Democratic hack in a robe, ordered the former president to pay nearly half a billion dollars in fraud damages … despite the total absence of fraud victims. James may edge out her fellow progressive Democratic Trump tormentor, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg,

Have the award reduced to one dollar. Nobody was harmed by Trump's actions, she won the case, the Dems got to say he is a convicted felon, and everybody moves on.

James and Engoron should be loudly and publicly slapped in the face. That will hurt them worse than the loss of the money that they attempted to steal from Donald Trump and the smear to his character.

Both James and her partner in crime, Engogron deserve severe punishment for their extra legal harrassment of an honest man. Trump deserves to have the entire case overturned and all his legal costs paid by the state.

McCarthy adds nothing to the debate, and weakly says the penalty will be reduced. McCarthy, can you get any more lame? You admit the whole affair is an injustice, then come to the penalty will likely be reduced. McCarthy, you have a very weak sense of obligation to the law and justice.

#1, it was a civil case, not a criminal case - so while Trump lost the case (anybody would, with the biased demo-commie setup in NYC), he wasn't 'convicted'.

FTA, the last two sentences - "Remember, if a malevolent partisan prosecutor can do this to Trump, she can do it to any person, business or cause that offends progressive Democrats. That’s fine by James, but it may thankfully have dawned on the appellate court that, if those are the new rules, New York City can’t survive as the world’s center of commerce." What #4 said. Both James and Engoran should be disbarred and imprisoned for what they did to Trump.

Islamist and jihadist student protesters under [Muhamad] Yunus's leadership have established an alternative government in the country, reminiscent of Iran's private militia, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Dozens of individuals, including Hindus, are falling victim to mob justice, while the perpetrators of these gruesome crimes enjoy impunity. Notably, Muhammad Yunus is one of the major donors to the Clinton Foundation. According to a cable leaked by Wikileaks, in 2007, Hillary Clinton made frantic efforts and exerted pressure on the Bangladesh Army to appoint her friend Yunus as head of the then military-backed interim government.

No matter which major party’s candidate wins this election, there’s one sure loser: The media. By nearly two-to-one, voters say they have little or no trust in either the mainstream big media or the alternative media. Can a country survive when two thirds of its people distrust the reporting of its main news outlets? In the September I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,582 adults, taken from Aug. 28-Aug. 30 with a margin of error of +/-2.6 percentage points, there was more glum news for the nation’s major news outlets. Americans profoundly distrust the stories they tell and how they tell them. That’s not an exaggeration.

When Kamala Harris was picking her running mate this summer, it was Tim Walz’s characterization of J.D. Vance and Donald Trump as “weird” in a series of TV interviews that helped earn him his spot on the ticket. In the weeks that followed, Republicans turned the insult on the Minnesota governor, accusing him of being a bit of a weirdo himself. (Their pretty flimsy case is based on Walz’s sometimes exuberant body language.) But last night’s debate between Vance and Walz was surprisingly, almost disconcertingly, normal.

Kamala Harris desperately needs to deflect responsibility for the ongoing debacle at the border, and she thinks she knows just how to do it. Whenever addressing the issue, she’s sure to accuse Donald Trump of killing the Senate border bill that, in her account, would have locked down the border and thrown away the key. “It was the strongest border security bill we’ve seen in decades,” Harris intoned during her visit to the border late last week. “It was endorsed by the border patrol union, and it should be in effect today, producing results in real time — right now for our country.”

On Tuesday, Iran took the extraordinary step of raining hundreds of ballistic missiles down on Israel as retaliation for the destruction of Hezbollah in Lebanon. As of now, injuries and deaths have been minimal, but the Israelis have vowed to respond harshly. This is a perilous time for world affairs, and with Americans set to choose the next president in early November, things have suddenly gotten real. That wasn't lost on Donald Trump, who responded with fire to Harris' disastrous foreign policy record. In his statement, the former president lambasted the current vice president for her aloofness and staged photo ops.

What’s the main argument you hear from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or any surrogate: it was chaos under Donald Trump? That’s one of the go-to lines that has been shouted incessantly, yet no one cares. Kamala Harris isn’t pulling away, and she’s projected to be the worst-performing Democrat ever among union and working-class voters. The economic message isn’t resonating, likely because voters aren’t stupid; her domestic plan is a carbon copy of Joe Biden’s. Kamala is the incumbent. She cannot run away from it. But we’re engulfed in a mess right now, and the Kamala-Joe duo is asleep at the switch.

In the days leading up to Tuesday’s debate, Democrats went out of their way to say they were nervous about how Gov. Tim Walz would perform. It was an obvious effort to lower expectations in the hopes Walz would beat the gloomy forecasts and thus look like an upset winner. They didn’t lower expectations far enough. Walz had occasional moments of clarity, but he spent most of the night giving rambling answers that filled the allotted time without reaching a clear conclusion. The only thing he won was finishing first in the number of non-

Iran launched at least 180 missiles into Israel on Tuesday, the latest in a series of escalating attacks in a yearslong conflict between Israel and Iran and its Arab allies that threatens to push the Middle East closer toward a regionwide war. The orange glow of missiles streaked across Israel’s night sky as air raid sirens sounded and residents scrambled into bomb shelters. Israel vowed retaliation for Iran’s barrage, which it said had caused only a few injuries. Before Iran’s attack, Israel had landed a series of devastating blows in recent weeks against the leadership of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The federal government's disaster response agency doesn't have enough money to help Americans left in distress by Hurricane Helene after blowing billions on illegal migrants. Over the last two years, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has handed out more than $1 billion taxpayer dollars to specifically support illegal migrants with housing. But now there's no money to help out the 150,000 American citizens who have reached out for federal assistance after their homes were damaged by Hurricane Helene. 'FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season,' Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted on Wednesday.
