Former President Donald Trump has laid out the most concrete timeline yet for when he might select his running mate for the 2024 Republican ticket. “I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” the presumptive GOP nominee told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a campaign visit to the battleground state Wednesday. The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18. Traditionally, the vice presidential nominee will address the delegates on the penultimate night of the gathering. In 2016, Trump picked then-Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate in the final week before the convention,

Trump needs someone he can trust. Washington has enough pull and influence to control almost anyone. Doubt any of the four listed are a good choice. Trump needs to find someone that will mostly continue his policies after a second term and not be beholden to Washington.

Bloomberg is about as unreliable as MSNBC when it comes to honest political reporting. President Trump now almost surely has a better insight into the potential for less than loyal VP candidates than in 2016. The choice will likely be one sure to understand that Trump's agenda will the the one the they are entrusted to carry forward for the entire four years. (That should also apply to the heads of all of the various government agencies!)

The only thing I know about President Trump's choice is that it will surprise me. Personally I'd pick Vivek Ramaswamy. He's smart as a whip, independently wealthy, and non white so he can't be credibly called a White Racist. Imagine what a debate between The V Man and Giggles would be like.

With the exception of JD Vance, these are RINO fantasies. I highly doubt President Trump is taking Diana or the NY Post into his confidence.

My guess? He'll be trying to woo DeSantis between now and July. If that doesn't pan out, it's gonna' be Burgum.

Rubio would be a TERRIBLE, horrible choice. IMO, Gov. Sanders of Arkansas would be a top choice. Frankly, ALL Senators know damned little about running anything from being a Senator, so unless they had some managerial experience before becoming a Senator....they tend to be "operational dunces" used to just being a "perfumed prince". Vance might be good, not having been in the Senate long, so prehaps less "infection" of Senatorism. But I don't know much about Vance, apparently wrote a book that many like, I don't know, never had heard of it or him until recently when he went to the Senate. Scott....maybe bring some black votes, doesn't seem to be a bad sort. I know nothing about the Nevada guy, literally zero. Rubio would be a serious error, VERY BAD, I don't trust him in the slightest.

I like Burgum. He's Steady, Reliable and has run his state like a man who knows what he's doing. Next I would like J.D. Vance. Of course I always think my Governor, DeSantis, is doing a super great job running Florida and would be a great President. Problem is, a lot of folks trashed him so much that I'm not sure he would win now. Along with that is the "Florida Problem" as both Trump and DeSantis live in the same state. Someone mentioned on FOX that if he really wanted to chose DeSantis, Trump could simply change his primary residence to one of his other homes. Not sure that could work, but One never knows these days!! I guess he could change it to Washington, D.C as he will be living there for four years!

A driver died after a vehicle crashed into a gate at the White House Saturday night, but the fatal collision is being investigated “only as a traffic crash” and there was no threat to the president’s residence, law enforcement authorities said. The male driver, who was not immediately identified, was found dead in the vehicle following the crash shortly before 10:30 p.m. at an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex, the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. The Washington Metropolitan Police Department said the vehicle crashed into a security barrier at the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

It was Election Day last November, and one of Georgia’s top election officials saw that reports of a voting machine problem in an eastern Pennsylvania county were gaining traction online. So Gabriel Sterling, a Republican who had defended the 2020 election in Georgia amid an onslaught of threats, posted a message to his nearly 71,000 followers on the social platform X explaining what had happened and saying that all votes would be counted correctly. He faced immediate criticism from one commenter about why he was weighing in on another state’s election while other responses reiterated false claims about widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) introduced legislation on Friday that would prevent anti-Israel protesters from receiving student loan forgiveness if they are convicted of a crime stemming from campus demonstrations. The Arkansas Republican’s No Bailouts for Campus Criminals Act, which is co-sponsored by 18 other GOP senators, would make any individual convicted of a state or federal offense in connection with a campus protest ineligible for any federal student loan relief. “Americans who never went to college or responsibly paid off their debts shouldn’t have to pay off other people’s student loans,” Cotton said in a statement.

Elite higher education in America -- long unquestioned as globally preeminent -- is facing a perfect storm. Fewer applicants, higher costs, impoverished students, collapsing standards, and increasingly politicized and mediocre faculty reflect a collapse of the university system. The country is waking up to the reality that a bachelor's degree no longer equates with graduates being broadly educated and analytical. Just as often, they are stereotyped as pampered, largely ignorant, and gratuitously opinionated. No wonder polls show a drastic loss of public respect for higher education and, specifically, a growing lack of confidence in the professoriate.

The New York City mayor, Eric Adams, remains under pressure to divulge how many of the 282 people arrested at campus protests in Manhattan on Tuesday night were non-students after repeatedly claiming that “outside agitators” were responsible for escalations that prompted an overwhelming law enforcement crackdown. Adams, a Democrat and former city police officer, was asked by local reporters on Thursday morning to give a breakdown of the arrest numbers. He repeatedly declined to provide details. On a local Fox News channel, Adams was asked to provide firm details but instead gave an analogy: “If you have one bad professor educating 30, 40, 50 college students with inappropriate actions,

Roughly 100,000 immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children are expected to enroll in the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance next year under a new directive the Biden administration released Friday. The move took longer than promised to finalize and fell short of Democratic President Joe Biden’s initial proposal to allow those migrants to sign up for Medicaid, the health insurance program that provides nearly free coverage for the nation’s poorest people. But it will allow thousands of migrants to access lucrative tax breaks when they sign up for coverage after the Affordable Care Act’s marketplace enrollment opens Nov. 1, just days ahead of the presidential election.

She cites the British war economy of the Second World War as a potential model. In her opinion, we should introduce this kind of economic system as quickly as possible, as it is the only way we can save our planet.

After months of stop-and-start negotiations, the cease-fire efforts appear to have reached a critical stage, with Egyptian and American mediators reporting signs of compromise in recent days. But chances for the deal remain entangled with the key question of whether Israel will accept an end to the war without reaching its stated goal of destroying Hamas.
