The Biden administration finalized a rule on Wednesday that’s expected to make a significant amount of the new car market electric or hybrid.
An administration official told reporters Tuesday that under the new rule, 56 percent of the new vehicles on the market in 2032 could be battery electric, while an additional 13 percent could be plug-in hybrids. That’s up from a collective 16 percent of sales being electric and hybrid cars last year.
The rule is a cornerstone of the Biden administration’s climate agenda, as the cars and other light-duty vehicles it regulates currently make up about 17 percent of U.S. planet-warming emissions. The rule also regulates medium-duty vehicles.

Hunter Biden demanded a hearing on Capitol Hill and then didn't show up. Perhaps he should have because his allies in the Democratic caucus aren't handling things well. In the gift that just keeps on giving, Tony Bobulinski's testimony once again produced a must-see moment, this time involving the esteemed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The congresswoman tried to pin the witness down on noting "specific crimes" he witnessed Hunter and Joe Biden commit.

An Orlando elected official allegedly took control of a 96-year-old woman’s finances and spent more than $100,000 of the nonagenarian’s money on a facelift, Miami hotel room for New Year’s Eve and other personal expenses, according to recently filed court documents.
Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill also allegedly used the six-figure sum on dental surgery, pricey perfume and clothes, and multiple intravenous vitamin infusions, according to reports.
The spending spree came after Hill met the senior citizen in March 2021 and retained power of attorney over the 96-year-old the next month, the Orlando Sentinel reported, citing an Florida Department of Law Enforcement affidavit.

Tyson Foods is facing boycott calls following a report that the company planned to hire migrants to work at its factories.
Conservatives reacted with outrage to a now-retracted Scripps News article claiming that the company was hiring some of the asylum seekers who arrived in New York City. However, a spokesperson for Tyson Foods told Newsweek the figures presented in that retracted article were inaccurate.
Tyson Foods responded to boycott calls in a statement.
"In recent days, there has been a lot of misinformation in the media about our company,

The driver, who is the son of the grocery store owner, Kaushik Patel, managed to fight off the perpetrators and ran into the store with his key fob in his pocket.

President Joe Biden confused guests at an Arizona campaign event Tuesday night when he wandered off stage to join a baby in the crowd and pull faces with his young fan.
The octogenarian spied the youngster while his campaign manager introduced him at a Mexican diner in Phoenix, the New York Post reports. The president then made his unprompted visit. “Well folks, I have to tell you straight up… I like you all, but I couldn’t resist that baby,” he proudly regaled the audience, which appeared to be only a few dozen people.

The first thing I notice when I watch a black-and-white TV show on one of the rerun networks is the ties. In the 1950s, every man wore a tie. The milkman wore a tie. The mailman wore a tie. The policeman wore a tie. Even Elvis wore a tie on occasion. Chuck Berry always wore a tie. Gas station attendants wore them. (Snip) Men wore ties to ballgames because men were civilized.
Ties were important because they gave a sense of authority but ties also showed that a man wants to belong in society. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Eat to please thyself, but dress to please others.”

Brian Schwalb, the Democratic attorney general in Washington, D.C., has dropped charges against Gold Star father Steve Nikoui for disrupting Congress during President Biden's State of the Union speech earlier this month. Nikoui is the father of Kareem Nikoui who was killed during the Biden Administration’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The decision to drop the charges was confirmed by the Speaker’s Office. The DC AG’s office told Fox News that it decided not to prosecute in this case just as they have in the cases of protesters in the past. Fox News was told that Nikoui was "thrilled and humbled,"

Donald Trump is seriously considering Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his running mate, according to a new report.
NBC revealed on Thursday that it had spoken with "six people familiar with the presumptive Republican nominee's search for a 2024 running mate" and that Rubio is now a serious contender. The outlet reported:
"The list is long, and it's extremely early in any kind of process," one Trump adviser said. "No one has been directly reached out to yet, and I do not expect that for some time."
But Trump's apparent seriousness about Rubio, a 52-year-old, third-term senator, hints at the former president's priorities

Three Americans are suing the National Park Service over the agency's refusal to accept cash payments to enter parks across the U.S.
The Americans − from California, New York and Georgia − filed the lawsuit earlier this month in federal court in Washington, D.C., saying that the park service is violating federal law by not allowing guests to pay cash to enter various parks, monuments and historic sites.
The lawsuit says the park service's policy violates a U.S. law that says that "coins and currency ... are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes and dues." "Thus, NPS’ refusal to accept U.S. Currency tendered for entrance fees constitutes a

Hours after the Supreme Court gave Texas officials permission to jail and prosecute migrants suspected of crossing the U.S. southern border without authorization, an appeals court late Tuesday blocked the state from enforcing its controversial immigration law known as SB4.
In a late-night order, a 5th Circuit Court of Appeals panel dissolved a pause that it issued in early March to suspend a lower court ruling that found SB4 to be unconstitutional. The order reinstated a ruling from U.S. District Court Judge David Ezra, who concluded in late February that SB4 conflicted with federal immigration laws and the Constitution.
