Senate releases $118 billion aid proposal
for Israel, Ukraine, border security

Original Article

Senators on Sunday released the details of a $118.2 billion aid proposal for Ukraine, Israel and the southern U.S. border, after months of painstaking, closed-door negotiations. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said a vote is scheduled to pass the bill on Wednesday. The publication of the bill marks a small victory for Senate negotiators who have gone back and forth for months on how to fund border security and whether to continue supporting Ukraine. President Joe Biden initially proposed the aid package in October. But just as soon as the Senate back-patting is over, the proposal will face its next major battle: House Republicans.

The House should send back 3 separate funding bills, and demand the Senate stop bundling them. I'm sure there's other pork items scattered amongst those 370 pages.

House Republicans: It's veto time. Shut the government down, if possible, before agreeing to a monster spending bill like this one.

Schumer knows he just has to bribe a handful of RINOs in the House to get this monstrosity passed. By the way, the bill has bailout money for the sanctuary cities.

JERUSALEM, Israel — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday during a visit to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops that half of Hamas’s terrorists had been killed or wounded, and that 18 of its 24 battalions had been destroyed thus far. Netanyahu spoke at Latrun, a military site overlooking the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem road where British-trained Jordanian troops had held out against Israel in the 1948 war. Israel captured it in 1967 after Jordan joined in that war by shelling western Jerusalem. In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu said (via Government Press Office translation): Total victory is essential because it ensures the security of Israel. Total victory

Is anyone impressed with Joe Biden's attempts to set a deterrent against attacks on American positions in the Middle East? Despite a string of attacks on military installations and Western shipping, the Biden administration acted as though the attack on our base in Jordan that killed three soldiers came as a surprise. It then took several days for Biden to select and order a response, by which time he'd signaled it so clearly that Iran and its proxies had plenty of time to clear out. But at least it sent a message, right? According to the Wall Street Journal, the answer is maybe ... but it's not the message intended:

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Amazon yielded to pressure from President Joe Biden’s White House to suppress books that opposed COVID-19 vaccines, according to documents reviewed by The Daily Signal. The House Judiciary Committee obtained the emails, which demonstrate the White House’s pressure on Amazon to suppress “anti-vax books” and the company’s decision to take action against the books. Amazon employees strategized for a meeting with the White House on March 9, 2021, openly asking whether the administration wanted the retailer to remove books from its catalog. “Is the [a]dmin asking us to remove books, or are they more concerned about search results/order (or both)?” one employee wrote.

TOPLINE Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley requested Secret Service protection because of an increase in threats, she told the Wall Street Journal on Monday—as Haley remains the sole Republican presidential primary challenger to former President Donald Trump. KEY FACTS Haley told the Journal in an interview her team had submitted a federal request for Secret Service, saying they have “had multiple issues” in terms of security but that “it’s not going to stop me from doing what I need to do.” The Secret Service can offer protection to “temporary protectees,” including “major presidential and vice presidential candidates and their spouses,”

Dartmouth College will restore its SAT requirement for admissions beginning with the Class of 2029, making it the first Ivy League university to reinstate the testing requirement after doing away with it after Covid. In an email to the university community, Dartmouth president Sian Beilock wrote that the decision to reimplement the standardized test was made in response to a faculty study which found that “standardized test scores are an important predictor of a student’s success in Dartmouth’s curriculum” regardless of a “student’s background or family income.”

On Sunday evening, the long-awaited text of the Senate's "border security" deal was released. Despite claims from Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Sen. James Lankford that prior leaks were incorrect, the bill turned out to be just as bad as suspected, and as I'm about to illustrate, perhaps even worse. Naturally, because the motivation for this bill has never been the border crisis, Ukraine funding dominates the first part of the text, with another $60 billion being sent to the Eastern European nation. Do Americans get a secure Southern Border in return? That answer is made clear by several

Sometimes you can believe what you read on the internet. The authors of the border bill repeatedly assured Americans that their bill would not permit 5,000 migrants or more per day, attributing those claims as “internet rumors” and “absolutely absurd.” “Right now, there’s Internet rumors,” Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) told Fox News Sunday on January 28 when speaking about the claim. “It’s all that people are running.” “It would be absolutely absurd for me to agree to 5,000 people a day,” he said. Those internet rumors appear to possess more truth than Lankford. The numbers allowed per day are even worse than in the leaked details of the bill.

“I’ve seen enough,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) declared Sunday night. Just hours after Senate negotiators unveiled their pro-migration border bill, Johnson pledged the bill would never move through the House. “This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created,” Johnson posted on X. “As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes.'” Johnson referenced a statement from the lead Democrat negotiator, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who correctly pointed out that “the border never closes” under the bipartisan deal.

Have you noticed lately that there are stories published that report on the work of ICE and deportations of illegal aliens? If you haven’t, you will soon. Things are not going well for Joe Biden’s re-election campaign and the Biden border crisis is a big part of that trouble. Immigration and securing the southern border is the top issue for voters, along with the economy, in the 2024 presidential election. Unfortunately for Biden, he has severely botched both. What Excites Biden? Things are becoming so strange, so surreal, so nihilistic in contemporary America that the chaos can only be deliberate. Chance, incompetence, and accident could not alone explain the series of disasters we now daily witness that are nearly destroying the country. When the ailing and non-compos-mentis president now speaks, he rarely becomes excited about Iranian or terrorist provocations. Biden seems restrained even at Russia’s outlawry in Ukraine. The atrocities of Hamas now earn only measured objections from Biden. He does not seem too angered by the collapse of the border. Nor do the deaths of 100,000 Americans to imported fentanyl earn a loud trademark Biden scream. No, what
