News surfaced over the weekend that a daycare center in Germany would be removing Anne Frank's name at the behest of "parents with migrant backgrounds." Frank is, of course, one of the most well-known victims of the Holocaust, and her diary is considered to be an important documentation of the plight of European Jews during World War II.
The "Anne Frank" daycare center in Tangerhütte, Germany, which has reportedly been in operation for decades, will be getting the name change because, according to the daycare center's director, "parents with migrant backgrounds feel uncertain about the name and find it challenging to explain to their children."

We say "Never forget," but we do. Erasing history won't change the heart of evil.

FTA: "...parents with migrant backgrounds feel uncertain about the name and find it challenging to explain to their children."
I suspect native Germans might have trouble explaining it to their children, too.
(AND as I suspected, Tangerhütte, Germany, is in the former East Germany. They had a somewhat different re-education program after the war, it being enforced by the Soviet Union, and all. I don't know if West Germany had a re-re-education program for them after their Anschluss.)
Rest of Germany, erasing the name of the girl you killed is NOT a good look.

Anne Frank was a precocious young lady murdered by the Nazi regime. Her name on anything would be an honor. Her diary was an amazing composition, written by a very talented person. It is sad someone so talented lived so short a life.

I was encouraged to learn that The Diary of Anne Frank is still on area high school reading lists, along with--surprise, surprise--Fahrenheit 451. Also, most savvy students are eschewing AI because it is "too fake."

Germany has always been anti Semitic, they never changed after the war, they just knew they had to eat the crap sandwiches of defeat. Now they pretend they’re being sensitive to “migrants” just so they can start whitewashing their history.
They aren’t afraid of the migrants, they don’t respect them. They’re an excuse for their own disgusting, Jew hating population.

Using this logic, all buildings named after anyone should just be called "Buildings".

If Muslim migrants feel “uncertain” about Ann Frank’s’ name for the day care center, what’s stopping them from operating their own day care? They can use tents or burned out buildings; just like at home.

FTA, last paragraph: 'Here's a short history lesson for those who want to erase the bad stuff or refuse to acknowledge it: Anne Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. She was a 15-year-old Jewish girl.' That reduces her to one of numerous similar victims. How about clearly stating that, in addition to penning an amazing and engrossing personal testament, she created one of the most influential pieces of literature of the 20th century. It is sad that she never knew the contribution she made to the humanity. And sadder still that some apparently wish to erase it.

Germans are blowing it again. How about explaining to these migrant parents that Anne Frank is a part of our history and if you don’t like it, leave and go somewhere you are more comfortable and your children can look up to those heroes. Anne Frank’s name and story is known around the world to be a heroic light during a terrible time in history. She does not deserve to be cancelled. She should be revered for her courage and strength. Germans are fools to once again listen to the voices of anti-Semites.
