The House of Representatives on Thursday approved a commonsense resolution condemning support of terrorist organizations and antisemitism on college campuses. But what should have been a unanimous vote instead had more than a handful of notable dissenters including one Republican.
As Politico reported, the House resolution, H. Res. 798, was introduced by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah), who heads the House Education and the Workforce’s subcommittee on higher education. The U.S. Senate last week approved a similar measure, S. Res. 418, by voice vote.
The resolution denounced a number of protests in support of Hamas’ October 7th attack on Israel,

Your thoughts, comments, and ideas are always welcome here. But we ask you to please be mindful and respectful. Threatening or crude language doesn't persuade anybody and makes the conversation less enjoyable for fellow L.Dotters.
In this country we have freedom of speech. We can't be jailed for speaking our mind.
But we are not free from the open condemnation for what we choose to say, or from the economic consequences that might result.

FTA: "Condemning disgusting speech, though, does not equate to censoring opposing views. While these protesters have a right to support evil acts that does not mean Congress and others cannot raise their voices in symbolic opposition.
Shame on these 23 members for not understanding this."

I am not at all shocked to see AOC and her entire racist and irrationally hateful Squad on the list.
The only surprise was they found ~15 others just as evil and stupid as they are to vote with them.
As far as the Republican talking first amendment, I repeat what others have said. Condemnation is not censorship. The 1a does not require we silently ignore evil and encourage more evil through our suicidal adherence to what the 1a does _not_ say.

What a coincidence. Everyone on the short list is not an American and make up the predicted segment way down on the left side of the Bell Curve. Surprise, the constitutents in their respected areas of the country are right down there with them.

#5 nails it. Those on that list would sell the US out in a heart beat. Oh, and if you ask them, the majority on the list would tell you the Bell Curve is on a highway outside of DC.

It sickens me that we have ignorant, hateful people in this country who loudly support brutal terrorism against civilians including babies. It is even more sickening that Congress has to submit a resolution ‘condemning’ this and actually let representatives vote on it.

Isn't a resolution like a strongly worded letter?

WE the people of America support Israel and it's efforts to reach and destroy Hamas...their barbarous attack on Israel was an act of war...and I'm happy Bibi can't be bullied by obama and his Iranian buddies....and now the screaming idiot from Lebanon ...who is worried because he didn't expect Israel to attack them...he was hoping it would be a Gaza attack and he would be spared the full attack of the IDF at his border....and winken and blinked and nod's hurried trip to Israel to tell Bibi to back off...isn't gonna work....GO Israel!!

Masse is a goofball that should be replaced. He can always think up some reason for never voting for anything the voters want.

Doesn't Massie understand the difference between "condemning support of terrorist organizations and antisemitism on college campuses" with banning or censoring/eliminating speech? Someone needs to re-read the First Amendment!
Congress is not doing what Face Book (Meta) and others did prior to the 2020 election with shadow banning, etc. Now that's censoring!

Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) voted NO, citing 1st Amendment concerns. What?? Nobody was challenging anyone's free speech right's. It's about the message being conveyed - not their right to speak!! What a loser!
