Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY) has so far not committed to replacing Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) with another Republican, should the Senate Minority Leader’s health become a persistent problem.
Beshear evaded the question about a possible Senate vacancy — pointing out the fact that McConnell has given no indication he intends to retire before the end of his current term — during a Thursday press conference. “There is no Senate vacancy. Senator McConnell has said he’s going to serve out his term, and I believe him, so I’m not going to speculate

That's his privilege. And other than who sits in the chair, it's just another deep state person anyway.

Why should he only RINOs would put in a D'Rat and call it crossing the isle. D'rats stick together.
If we can have Mr. Poatoe-Head as our president we could probably stand deer-in-the headlight Minority Leader. Althought I wish he'd be replace by Kennedy (R-La).

I would not expect a Dem governor to appoint a Republican. Duh.

#4, Republican Govs ALWAYS appoint Dems when a Dem Senator dies.
As Ann Coulter once said (before losing her marbles) the worst Republican is still better than the best Democrat.

The good news is this is likely McConnel's last term. The bad news is he's not up for re-election for 3 + more years. The RINO was re-elected during the midterms. If the Kentucky governor were to appoint a Democrat to serve out his term it's just the same thing as we have now.

The Governor apparently thinks that he, on his own, can declare a law unconstitutional. But he's a Democrat so he may be right.

I thought Beshear had unlimited appointment power until I read this FTA: Beshear is bound by a 2021 law to replace him (McConnell) with a member of his own party — a law that was passed over Beshear’s protests and his veto.
So the GOP Central Committee presents Beshear with some choices and he decides.

McConnell would not be the first brain dead politician to stay in office and he won't be the last...

Turtle's elevator isn't going to the top floor anymore. If he has to resign, best-case scenario - Beshear appoints a rino to replace him. Worst-case scenario - Beshear appoints a uber-lefty to replace him.

Surely there is a cigar store Indian in Kentucky that could be a stand-in for McConnell and bring a little more personality to the office. Keep looking, Andy. Go deep.

Would there be any difference? We thought McConnell gave us great judges, but found out not so much. Mitch is a RINO, aka demoncrat or leftist. You can tell by the way a dem gov speaks of him. So sad, Kentucky.

He doesn’t have to resign, just step down from his leadership position. He doesn’t seem to impaired cognitively, just having some very short brain freezes similar to petit mal. Also known as absence epilepsy. I have a relative who developed this after a playground fall. It has not affected his life at all. There is medication he takes that controls it so that he can get a driver’s license but other than that that life is normal. Mitch is old, he does things that make me nuts, but then he often has, he doesn’t have dementia. That would be Biden and Feinstein. Fetter man is just impaired.

This is the danger and disaster of keeping these fossils in office, years or decades past their sell-by date. When it is impossible to disguise their senility or incapacity, there is the risk of their being replaced by someone not elected, and at odds with the electorate.

They could replace Mitch with a Northeastern Water Snake and it will be all the same to us. The ironic part of this whole situation is that he spent most of his life accumulating millions of dollars instead of doing an honest job but he will not live to enjoy any of it although his family will. Same for Joe Biden. In the same condition, Diane Feinstein looks so dignified being lifted out of a car in her wheelchair while she wonders where she is.

The truly bad part is that the Republican Senators could replace the Turtle with another leader.
If they had the courage---which they don't.

No, it's not.
In Kentucky, the Governor is required by law to replace him with someone of the same party.
