House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., confirmed Tuesday he's been diagnosed with blood cancer. The No. 2 House Republican was diagnosed with a "treatable" form of blood cancer and said he intends to be on Capitol Hill while he fights the disease. "After a few days of not feeling like myself this past week, I had some blood work done. The results uncovered some irregularities and after undergoing additional tests, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a very treatable blood cancer," Scalise said in a statement.

I'm sorry to hear his diagnosis. Yes it is treatable. Not 100% of the time but enough to hope for a full recovery.

Billions have been spent on cancer research in the last 50 years, and a good bit of it has begun to pay off. Pancreatic seems to be pretty much hopeless, they try, but almost always fail. But various blood and lymph system cancers have a very high success rate and excellent quality of life. A relative with lymphoma had the swollen glands go fully back to normal and CAT scans show normal after only six weeks of initial treatments. Treatments are ongoing, prognosis is excellent. I surely hope and pray that his cancer responds well to treatments, too.

#4 is correct about pancreatic cancer. I have had three good friends killed by it in the last ten years. It’s still pretty much a death sentence. Hopefully the best people are working on a cure.

Back in June, the ACLU lamented that the state of Florida did not provide "medically necessary gender-affirming care" to Duane Owen before he was executed. He had killed and raped a 14-year-old and then also committed murder again, years later. The ACLU is at it again coming to the defense of a male inmate who claims to be transgender, this time in Indiana. (X's) The latest lamentation about transgender inmates is just as tone deaf as the one from earlier this year. President Joe Biden traveled to Florida over the weekend where he toured the area hit by a powerful hurricane and used the opportunity to push his extreme climate agenda, a shameless pitch that infuriated Fox News host Will Cain. It wouldn't be a 'total shock' if President Joe Biden ended his 2024 reelection campaign by the end of the year, noted a biographer with enhanced access to the White House. Author Franklin Foer said Sunday that he found during his time with Biden and his inner circle that 'one of the primary insecurities' of the President 'is that he does not want to be perceived as stupid.' Biden, 80, announced in late April his bid for a second term with Vice President Kamala Harris – but questions have emerged in the last year over whether the President is too old or too unfit to serve for four more years.

Green energy and the push to electrify everything have been in the news recently but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of the green energy nirvana politicians and green energy advocates have promised, economic and physical reality has begun to set in. Start with the economic realities. Wind turbine manufacturers like Siemens and General Electric have reported huge losses for the first half of this year, almost $5 billion for the former and $1 billion for the latter. Among other problems, turbine quality control has suffered, forcing manufacturers such as Siemens and Vestas to incur costly warranty repairs. In Europe, offshore wind output has been less than promised

Mimi Lui, an attorney representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, has filed suit in federal court against JPMorgan Chase. The case will go to trial on October 23 unless a settlement is reached.
