Comments:

It can hardly get more horrifying, but it will. We already have plenty of places in the U.S. approaching if not surpassing this nightmare.

Been ringing the fire alarm here for years. No one wants to believe we are at war. And have already surrendered. Every major city and most smaller ones have their encampments of mentally ill "homeless" addicts. The same is true of not just petty property crimes but of violent felonies as well. And yet the same stupid leadership is returned to power every election and it is not all vote fraud. Just not enough competent, intelligent people left here in the New World to stop this...

Here in Idaho driving on the freeway, we followed an SUV with Mexico license plates. When we lived in CA we never saw expensive cars driving around with Mexico license plates. Our law enforcement agencies are telling us that the Cartels have "safe houses" here which they use to pass through drugs (fentanyl, etc). Even Idaho, where we have strict illegal drug laws. However, we are next door to Oregon where every kind of drug is legal.

We took a vacation on the Rocky Mountaineer train through BC and Alberta a few years ago. We had two nights before the train departed in Vancouver and decided to see that beautiful city first. Before doing so spoke with a representative of the agency arranging the vacation. He told us not to go east of a border near the China district. We did as told. Even walking along an area west of that location we saw young people who looked like zombies writhing and kneeling on their knees, looked down alley ways and saw obvious drug transactions, saw homeless in their made up homes wandering down to the public bathrooms. In the areas just a comfortable walk to downtown, my wife said she never felt that uncomfortable even in Baltimore. When good people do nothing about evil, evil takes over. This is why the left does not want you to be able to defend yourself, family, and country. The left is an envious lots which can only destroy.

We must see to it we get the toughest, most courageous Governors of our states next time we vote. I know I am praying fervently for such leadership in my Texas. We fight to the death or start learning Mandarin. We can no longer have “company men” at the helm of state government who do no more than they have to in office, are risk averse to tackling the most serious problems all the while raising money and building their family’s financial portfolios fat as they can.

A conservative comedian of my acquaintance remarked to me recently, “I see New York Times editorial writer Ted Kaczynski has passed away.” This is a callback to one of the earliest reactions to the Unabomber’s famous manifesto, “Industrial Society and Its Future,” that led to his capture in 1996. The late Tony Snow of Fox News was the first to notice a number of striking—and embarrassing—similarities between the language of Kaczynski’s manifesto and Al Gore’s pretentious and cliché-ridden Earth in the Balance. In other words, many arguments of the manifesto were entirely familiar and even conventional, which is why he could easily be confused for the rote-cliché writers

Two of Europe’s largest energy firms are pivoting from green energy back to their core oil and gas businesses, a move that industry experts tell the Daily Caller News Foundation signals a willingness to take political hits as oil and gas continue to be major sources of revenue. Both Shell and fellow U.K. energy firm BP opted against further cuts to oil production recently, in a bid to restore investor confidence as their renewable ventures struggled, according to Bloomberg. While the moves were met with criticism from climate-focused investors — activist investors and protestors attempted to storm the stage at Shell’s annual shareholder meeting in late May — the companies are

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat, issued an executive order Monday that makes the state a sanctuary for gender transition procedures on minors. Under the order, “all state agencies shall, to the fullest extent within their authority, take whatever action is necessary” to “protect people or entities in Maryland providing, receiving, assisting in providing or receiving, seeking, or traveling to obtain gender-affirming treatment.” The order, which follows a string of actions to promote transgender ideology in Maryland, will standardize the policy decisions that already contributed to the sex trafficking of one gender-confused teenager from Maryland. “Gender-affirming care” is the Left’s preferred term for a variety of experimental procedures with serious side effects,

The district court judge, Indira Talwani, suggested that the phrase “would intrude on the rights of others” and the shirt worn by Middleborough Public Schools middle schooler Liam Morrison could be disallowed by the dress code of the school, denying his request for a preliminary injunction, according to court documents.

Smoke from forest fires arriving from Canada this summer is choking residents of the United States and millions more Canadians in the prairie and eastern provinces. Thick, roiling smoke may pose health hazards to the aged and infirm in both countries. The origin of the fires traces back to late winter and spring. An abnormally dry winter left Canada’s boreal forests in conditions ripe for fire outbreaks from various causes, including ignition from lightning strikes in tinder-dry material. Forested portions of Alberta and British Columbia have been the sites of pine bark beetle infestations that have left millions of acres of dead trees and combustible residue on the ground.

We have been swimming upstream for years here at American Thinker, arguing that conversion of the automobile fleet to electric vehicles is a mistake, harming the environment more than helping it, and utterly impractical for a variety of reasons, including charging time and an entirely inadequate electrical grid, already at the breaking point. Yet the green image (and the subsidies) continue, impervious to the reality. (Snip) However, there are signs that the gravity of the practical problems with E.V. conversion are sinking in. Rowan Atkinson, who has become a global icon portraying "Mr. Bean," a character Atkinson describes as "a child in a man's body," is publicly raising these questions.

Are you ready for the government to take away your car? New proposed regulations on automobile emissions from the Environmental Protection Agency would require 60% of new car sales to be electric vehicles by 2030 and 67% by 2032, compared to the fewer than 6% that were on the road in 2022—for no environmental benefit. (Snip) The EPA is also planning new rules for power plants, driving up the costs of the electricity needed to charge these vehicles. These rules plus the EV sales mandate would raise driving costs for Americans and strengthen China’s economy, because China makes 80% of the world’s electric batteries.

New York City will be cracking down on wood-fired pizza joints to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75%. “All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Ted Timbers said in a statement to the New York Post on Sunday. “This common-sense rule, developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups, requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible.”

We’ve long been critical of Hollywood’s lack of fresh, new ideas and its apparent fascination with rebooting past films or giving us a sequel decades later. Sadly, merely paying homage to the original material is insufficient. Instead, producers opt to incorporate “wokeness,” believing it will be more appealing to modern viewers, but in the process, they end up taking something beloved and turning it into garbage that the masses don’t want to see. The latest example is Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, the prequel series to the 1978 hit film Grease. I’m not sure who wanted this — it’s bad enough to hear any of the original songs

The same “reporters” who snored through more than two years of preposterous claims by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and her predecessor simultaneously woke up Friday. In 2024 Republicans cannot "out-fraud" the left, cannot "out-ballot-harvest" them, cannot "out-lawfare" them, cannot "out-media" them, cannot "out–contribution mule" them, cannot "out–Justice Department" them...but sure as hell can out-compute them — and that may do it. The left owns the election apparatus — voting equipment, ballot-manufacturing, vagrant habitats, election commissions, media intimidation of judges not to look at election fraud and driving out any lawyer who raises a valid case. Electioneering, by both sides, currently runs 1970s technology. Leftists make good use of obsolete relational tech; Republicans, not so much. In 2024, there is an opportunity to out-compute the left.
