A Florida high school math teacher has been fired after a 'racially charged incident' that saw him compare students skin tones to different types of coffee roasts.
Cary Altschuler, who taught AP statistics and precalculus at Lake Worth High School, posted photos of three students on his smart board along with the labels: 'Extra Cream,' 'Medium Roast,' and 'Dark Roast.'
He claims he did it in response to two students who began calling each other 'light-skinned'. Altschuler reportedly told the students that if they were going to mock the color of each other's skin, they should be more creative.

I dunno...we were bored out of or minds in tenth grade math classes.
Until the teacher,an umpire in the local summer baseball leagues, started to connect math, algebra, calculus to our daily lives.
Add in a heavy dose of mid 1970s current events and it turned into a course in philosophy.
We were no longer bored but engaged and maybe we even learned a thing or two...

For those not from the south, it is a real thing with black people to judge each other by the darkness of skin. Some are light skinned and some are very dark. I had a good black friend and she told me one day there was a reunion with her husband's family that weekend but she wasn't going. "All of them are way too dark." That's what she said. So white people need to get over trumped up racism because most of this stuff is normal to them.

I see nothing wrong with what the school teacher did, but he apologized and admitted he was wrong. He deserves to be fired for not standing in his own darn square. Why should I get all upset about it?

It's okay and often encouraged for teachers to talk to a fourth grade class about why they are not the sex with which they were born and why they should have surgery to "fix" it but don't dare mention skin color.

I heard many black friends in NYC describe another black person by color ratios, such as: “high tone yellow, light tan”, etc. They did it all the time and never thought it was “racists! Of course, if the teacher was not black, it might look suspiciously different.

Any teacher with a few days' experience should know you never wade into that issue.

I don't see an issue about this at all. I don't even see it as racial. A room full of white kids can have the same coffee scale. Sure most will be with cream, but some are definitely darker. Some get dark tans in the summer. Some are as white as can be. Who GsAF?

10% of all teachers quit after their first year
40% of all teachers quit by their fifth year
Is it any wonder why?

You have perverted male teachers looking down high school girl's shirts or at their backsides (my 9th grade algebra teacher was a perv in the late 80s). Female teachers having sex with male students and talking about their sex lives in class. Pronoun proponents also hang pride flags everywhere and no one bats and eye. Talk about skin color and you get the ax? Like I gave that example when I was in school public schools have gotten worse especially with the woke ridiculousness.

#4 is right. If you read the histories of the black Mardi Gras Krewes in New Orleans, they had rules like you couldn't be darker than a brown paper bag, or a particular color of ribbon. They would literally hold those up to the faces of prospective members as a test. Many black social clubs in other parts of the country had similar rules. Those rules are not prevalent now, but blacks are still quite aware of skin tones in their environment.
