Before we dig into the main course, a few words about polling in general. First, it’s been my experience that many—if not most—casual poll watchers tend to pay selective attention to polls, not unlike Fox News or CNN viewers who watch various on-air personalities to be told what they want to hear.
Second, we’ve seen candidates laud the results of a particular poll when its results favor them, then turn around and call the exact same polls “fake” when they don’t like the poll’s latest results. Third, while pre-primary polls conducted among likely voters of a single party might be lauded by various candidates and their followers, polls conducted among

I found this story puzzling. The headline indicated that DeSantis is polling better in the swing states than Trump yet the writer mentions only two states and that DeSantis is polling higher there than Biden. Of the swing states Georgia and Arizona are the most likely to vote for the Republican. I’m sure Trump won both in 2020 but his victory was stolen due to Democrat cheating aided by weak Republicans who allowed the voting rules to be high jacked.
What would be interesting is a poll gauging which of the two, Trump or DeSantis, polls better than Biden. This article seems to be anti-Trump without even a hint of cleverness.

#1 - The logic is that Trump can't win GA and AZ this time around but DeSantis can, and without them the Republicans can't win the White House. Trump endorsed Lake, who lost. He endorsed Hershel, who also lost (the only Republican on the state ticket to do so). You can bring up cheating and stolen elections but what's going to change in 2024?

Trump is underwater in all the swing states. He is also toxic to moderate and independent voters, and openly expresses his disdain for Rinos, apparently now defined as anyone not in lock step with Donald Trump. Also, the polls never acknowledge how he can possibly win an electoral victory. All this doesn't even consider DOJ's final effort to indict him for sedition, fueling a Democrat general election campaign even more evil than 2020.

I'm not hanging my hat on any poll at this time. I've seen polls with both DeSantis and Trump beating and losing to Biden. I've also seen polls with DeSantis beating Trump.
Polls are meaningless this far out, especially since there has been little campaigning to date. I guarantee half the population has never heard of DeSantis and half the population would be surprised to learn that the current VP self identifies as a female.

He can lead in the swing states IF he has the base supporting him which he does not. The base is going no where and is gaining momentum. Ron DeSaintis man is a political dead man walking and is being propped up by Rinos and democrats who will do anything to destroy Trump. The burning question for DeSaintis, is do you love your country and really want to defeat democrats, Rinos and the deep state or is your ego your highest priority? It’s that simple. After everything that is coming out about how democrats and Rinos have been undermining Trump since 2015, does anyone believe the base is going to abandon him? He has the accomplishments, the receipts for them and follows through on his promises. What you are seeing with the DeSaintis maneuver is a battle for the soul of the Republican Party and we are not going to let the GOPe betray us any more.

I continue to stress that the Biden DOJ is not done with Trump and we need DeSantis as an alternative. An article just above this one says that Bill Barr claims that the Special Prosecutor Smith will indict Trump this summer. Georgia is going to indict him too. The plan for Dems is not just to destroy Trump, but to keep him from campaigning, especially through “gag orders” like they got in NY. They will hide Biden and want to hide and smear Trump. We have to win in 2024 - they will justify the steal again in 2024 by saying they are saving America from Trump, who will be convicted in DC. He has as much chance of winnning a court case with a DC jury and Judge as he does with Haley’s Comet flying between his legs. Keep our powder dry with DeSantis. He can win and would be a great President.

I get a kick out of the never trumpers bashing Trump over and over again. At the same time complaining that Magnum is being so mean to desantis. If we're honest here we know DeSantis has been a great governor, you it's dishonest to say anything else. But he is untested, he has a friendly State Legislature here. Once in Washington everybody's out to get them not only Democrats but many republicans
And I'm at times taken back by the naivete of the Never trumpers. They talk about how Trump will be ripped apart, they don't seem to have any awareness of what they would do to DeSantis. We have no idea what would happen to DeSantis under that pressure, cuz he's never experienced it. At this point all these indictments against Trump seem to be working in his favor. And I think he is the only one tough enough to do what needs to be done. As far as the polls, it's very important to look at the internals. As far as I know and correct me if I'm wrong the ones that are the most accurate are the ones that have Trump moving ahead. It hurts me that so many Republicans on these threads, have brought into the Press Narrative of trump, they don't even know they're doing it.

You can always spot the coordinated effort between anti-Trump stories and their devoted posters. Get a life, will you? You can’t (honestly) win without us and we’re voting for Trump.

It is not a matter of abandoning Trump, but of taking a hard look at the political terrain.
The core problem for DJT is that public perceptions of him have HARDENED. If you appreciate what the man has accomplished and endured you will vote for him in the general election. If not, you won't. The man has essentially no room to increase his popularity.
On the other hand, DeSantis is relatively unknown and therefore has the opportunity to define himself to voters, especially to those moderate squishes and Suzy Sunshines who are disappointed in Biden and who decide (honest) elections.
The "Trump, and ONLY Trump!" contingent should welcome DeSantis into the race. If DJT is the electoral killing machine they think he is then he will easily dispatch Governor Ron. If he is not, well...better to find out before the nomination is formally decided.

Governor Kemp hosted members of the Bush family in funding/supporting DeSantis.
I won't be supporting DeSantis under any circumstances. I voted Romney. I voted McCain. I will NOT vote that way ever again.
