Trials and Tribulations

This week there was what I consider to have been extensive unwarranted attention given to the murder trial in South Carolina of Alex Murdaugh. Unwarranted because it seems to me this is at best a matter of local or regional interest. In the end, those who followed it learned one important lesson for all the coverage they saw or read: Do not carry your cell phone around when engaged in murdering your wife and son because, if you do, you leave a digital footprint easier to trace than Hansel and Gretel’s breadcrumb trail. Alexis de Tocqueville long ago wrote of American’s fascination with courthouse trials, calling it “another theater.”

Her final comments on the meltdown of the leftists make me wonder (if the Lord tarries) what government will be like when the geriatrics finally pass. The Squad"? Vapid female celebrities going out on town without undergarments becomes national news. I don't have much hope for that improving anytime soon.

Couldn't agree more with Clarice this morning. However one little bit of info was gleaned from the wall to wall coverage, the spoiled little brat that partied as Johnny Reb was also a very big democrat donor. Who would have thought.

You’d think that those 81 demonrats would have voted down the DC crime bill for their own safety if for nothing else.

I agree with Clarice's statement that this wall-to-wall news coverage of murders in South Carolina was "Unwarranted because it seems to me this is at best a matter of local or regional interest." That has been my reaction every time I see yet another article about this drug-addicted nut case of an attorney. This is small potatoes compared to so much of the news about Ukraine, widespread crime, the cost of illegal immigration, Biden's mental diminution, and so on.

Why aren't the fascist far-left leaving the country they loathe? People usually don't try to transform and then destroy that which they love, so why aren't they just leaving? These days, the Babylon Bee has the range, and it's putting its rhetorical rounds right on target. Now it's just firing for effect, from a story about a man catching up on the latest news by reading two-year-old posts on a conspiracy blog to a satirical report from a few years ago about a group of leftists heading for the Socialist Paradise of Venezuela. On Sunday night, a group of over 100 domestic terrorists marched on the site of a public safety training center for the city of Atlanta that is under construction and firebombed portions of the site, including construction equipment and a police vehicle. The thugs began their “protest” as a march and what they called a “music festival” on the site, but it quickly turned violent. “Sunday night, attendees said a group branched off of the concert for a protest nearby around 5 p.m.,” reports WSB Radio. “APD [Atlanta Police Department] said 100-plus protestors changed into black clothing and entered the construction area and began to throw large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails,

Gary Rossington, the Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist and the last surviving original member of the band, has died at the age of 71. No cause of death was given for Rossington, who died on Sunday, nearly four months before the band was set to embark on their next tour. The guitarist had been dealing with health issues for decades, including a heart attack in 2015 and emergency heart surgery in 2021. In an official statement, Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote: “It is with our deepest sympathy and sadness that we have to advise, that we lost our brother, friend, family member, songwriter and guitarist, Gary Rossington, today.

I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.” The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies had already announced earlier Saturday Ja Morant would “be away from the team for at least the next two games,” after the Instagram Live post.

When it came to picking his Secretary of Transportation, President Joe Biden picked Pete Buttigieg, a man whose resume included 1) overperforming in a handful of presidential primaries and 2) being the mayor of the 335th-largest city in the United States of America. This, apparently, qualifies one to lead the way when it comes to the nation’s transportation and infrastructure needs. Is Pete Buttigieg salvageable? More than any other cabinet member in recent memory, Joe Biden’s transportation secretary has been outed as someone out of his depth and entirely clueless when it comes to the weighty responsibilities of his office. “He’s not ready for the responsibility he has. He was a fine mayor, from what I understand, but the position he’s got really would be better served by a person who’s managed a large enterprise, a state, or something of the scale he’s now dealing with,” said Sen. Why is Joe Biden really skipping Charles

Joe Biden will almost certainly not attend the coronation of King Charles III. The official reason is that he is making a trip to Ireland that simply can’t be canceled. The media have focused on two reasons he won’t be there: (1) Eisenhower didn’t attend so there’s no tradition for presidents to attend, and (2) Biden hates the British. I think there are two more likely reasons: (1) Charles III’s coronation is an event without cachet, and (2) it’s impossible for Biden to withstand the rigors of the long coronation ceremony and any pre- and post-ceremony events. Indeed, my money is on the last reason being the real reason.

“What price Churchill?” was the question famously posed by the poster that appeared in the Strand in the last week of July 1939. The Daily Mirror asked: “The writing on the wall? This giant poster is causing considerable comment.” The poster was a plea for Churchill’s leadership. He was finally summoned to serve as Prime Minister upon Neville Chamberlain resignation on May 10, 1940. Churchill recalled in his history of the war: “I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial.” By contrast, President Biden is something of a wrecking ball.

WASHINGTON — Over the past 11 months, someone created thousands of fake, automated Twitter accounts—perhaps hundreds of thousands of them--to offer a stream of praise for Donald Trump. When it came to Ron DeSantis, the bots aggressively suggested that the Florida governor couldn’t beat Trump, but would be a great running mate.
