A total ban on animal products could one day be on the cards for Cambridge University's food services following an Extinction Rebellion offshoot campaign. Cafes and canteens at Cambridge University are being pushed towards a '100 per cent plant-based' menu as student union votes were cast to 'initiate talks' for more sustainable options. Yesterday's vote came after lobbying from Cambridge's Plant Based Universities campaign, which is supported by Animal Rebellion, an offshoot of activist group Extinction Rebellion. Its motion - which calls for change in response to the 'climate and biodiversity crises' - was backed by 72 per cent of non-abstaining student

Comments:

This is pure nuttiness. Some (many?) people can't survive on plant-only diet - or just don't like it.

Bwahaha...#1 is correct. If I know most young people, they won’t eat it. Now, I love properly prepared vegetables (best with real butter or bacon grease) but I won’t give up animal protein. One look at human teeth tells us that we are designed as omnivores, not herbivores.

I can see this lasting a few weeks, until someone runs the numbers and realizes that the food services department at Cambridge is hemorrhaging massive amounts of money on food that nobody is eating. Meanwhile McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every "brew and hot wings" joint, etc, etc, in the Cambridge area will be making a killing. And all the brain-dead lie-berals at Cambridge just won't be able to comprehend what anyone with more than 6 working brain cells knew would happen!!!!!

Surely the Cricket and Cauliflower options were included in the vote? Will the windows of the cafeterias be blocked so students can't see the McDonalds across the street and make their mouths water for a McRib? You should carry your insanity to the max if you start down that path. This proves the claim that three-fourths of our college graduates are not worth the paper that their "studies" accomplishments are printed upon. I am glad that I am no longer in the position to hire and fire these days, I don't know if I would laugh or cry.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Winter storms sowed more chaos across the U.S. on Thursday, shutting down much of Portland with almost a foot of snow and paralyzing travel from parts of the Pacific Coast all the way to the northern Plains. The nearly 11 inches that fell in Portland amounted to the second snowiest day in the city's history. It took drivers by surprise, stalling traffic during the Wednesday evening rush hour and trapping motorists on freeways for hours. Some spent the night in their vehicles or abandoned them altogether as crews struggled to clear roads. Other commuters got off spun-out buses

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has upped its estimate for the number of animals killed by the derailment of train cars carrying hazardous chemicals in East Palestine, Ohio, to nearly 44,000. The department estimates around 38,222 minnows were killed by the derailment within a 5-mile span, plus around 5,500 other species, including other small fish, amphibians, crayfish and macroinvertebrates, ODNR Director Mary Merks said in a statement. The original estimate was approximately 3,500 dead aquatic species, based on observations from Feb. 6-7, shortly after the Feb. 3 derailment. ODNR’s team responded to the waterways the morning after the

Ukraine's insistence on reasserting control over the annexed Crimean Peninsula is controversial for United States citizens, exclusive polling for Newsweek has revealed. Throughout the past year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly committed to "liberating" Crimea from Russian control. The peninsula was illegally annexed by Moscow back in 2014. "Crimea is our land, our territory," Zelensky said in January. "It is our sea and our mountains. Give us your weapons—we will return what is ours." His words coincided with reports that the Biden administration was warming up to the idea of supporting Kyiv in its goal of retaking Crimea.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has called out the rail operator at the center of a hazardous train derailment in Ohio. In a sharply worded, three-page letter sent Sunday to Norfolk Southern Railway president and CEO Alan Shaw, Buttigieg accused the Atlanta-based company of repeatedly prioritizing profit over safety -- a problematic ethos within the larger transportation industry that the secretary said has contributed to a number of derailments over the years. In Sacramento, there’s a word that keeps popping up during discussions about the state’s homelessness crisis: “accountability.” Gov. Why the 2020 Election was Unverifiable 34 replies

Joe Biden acquired his job through a legal process. However, he did not earn enough verifiable votes to justify the certifications in six key swing states. This issue is addressed in my new book, but here is some of my reasoning. I have limited myself to one example of unverifiable votes for each of those swing states. Arizona At an Arizona Senate Committee hearing on January 24, 2022, we learned that precisely 95 percent of Maricopa County overseas military members (and their families) voted for Joe Biden. That is an amazing (as in phony) percentage, given that the overall county-wide vote was fairly even between Biden and Trump (51 to 49%).

Positions that are currently vacant will be eliminated. The outlet reported that CEO John Lansing is attributing the move to a lack of advertising dollars, specifically in terms of its podcasts. NPR has an annual budget of $300 million and its revenues could be short $30 million to $32 million.
