The US Secretary of the Navy has raised the alarm that China's naval fleet surpasses America's in number of ships, and is growing faster than the US has current capacity to match.
'It is no secret that the People's Republic of China seeks to upend our dominance on the oceans across the globe,' said Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro in remarks at the National Press Club in Washington DC on Wednesday.
Del Toro said that China's navy has recently added over one hundred combatants to its fleet, calling it 'a naval buildup that is a key component of its increasingly aggressive military posture globally.'

So China is doing all the things we used to do before we became weak at the hands of the uniparty. And what is our reason for concern? Sauce for the goose and all that.

The thing is, this overwhelming fleet of Chinese naval ships are run by 2nd generation of formally unemployed fisherman. Yup, they know how to steer and catch fish but they can't fight. More like a window dresser to make the displays look good.

How can this happen? Three words, Made in China. Also the fact that Biden is asleep at the wheel on purpose when it comes to China. There is absolutely zero challenge to the threat this regime presents to the world. Biden has abdicated his role to protect the interests of this country because being weak and ineffective benefits his bank account. He has allowed China free reign to do whatever benefits them. He has the power to convince American companies that it is in their best interest to stop enabling China. We should be producing vital products that we need here. He should immediately bring all pharmaceutical manufacturing and other basic products we need here. We should not be forced to rely on our enemy to produce the medicines we need. It is not only counterproductive to our economy, it is a national security risk. We have real leverage with China but Biden won’t use it. We are China’s largest source of wealth. It’s time that changed. We need more manufacturing here. People needs jobs and Americans need the security of knowing we can take care of ourselves and do not have to look to our enemy for basic needs. That is insane, but insane is what Biden does best. China will keep advancing and we cannot let them. They have already gone too far. By the way, let’s make a law prohibiting China or any other foreign country to buy up our real estate. Let’s add Bill Gates to that list for good measure. He has nothing good planned for the vast amount of farm land he just gobbled up. This must stop. We are so pitifully apathetic and weak that we cannot even do what is in our best interests.

China's "navy" is primarily composed of littoral combat ships, designed for close-in maritime defense, rather than blue water type vessels. Their intention is clearly not to exert strength far removed from their near-shore defensive areas, at least not yet. For comparison purposes, what if the roles were reversed, and China had a fleet of carriers, each with an air arm capable of nuclear bombing, stationed in Mexico and Canada? Would we be comfortable with that? Doubtful. I am not suggesting that America ignore China's military capabilities, but to date, it is not remotely capable of threatening American territorial sovereignty, nor challenging American naval superiority. Nonetheless, it remains imperative that American armed forces remain vigilant to deploy the best trained and equipped army and navy as a deterrent to foreign aggression. But let's not lose our heads here, people. America's biggest challenge by far consists of the internal corruption and treason attributable to the Biden cabal and its allies throughout the country, by which I mean the democrat party and its voters.

I hate to rain on your Fear Parade, but the 85% of Chinese ships cannot travel 1000 miles without refueling. They cannot project power. China is a brown water Navy in a country that is Maritime dependent. They import 85% of their Energy and 50% of food and the necessary inputs for growing food.
If Iran and Saudi Arabia get into a knife fight, can China sail to the Middle East and force the Straits open? Can they protect their supply lines?
3 Destroyers blocking the Straits of Malacca could shut down Chinese oil imports and 3 months later, the lights would go out.

#3 who do you think is manning our vessels? They are young men and women from all parts of the country many of whom have never seen blue water. They are trained to be sailors.
#6 China has large blue water fleet of destroyers and submarines. Modern weapons give small ships massive fire power. Numbers matter today just as the Russians demonstrated against the Nazis superior technology.
It is my contention that China will not immediately invade Taiwan but will blockade by air and sea to weaken it or have them capitulate. Taiwan is in China's "backyard" and is a logistical nightmare for the SE Asia allies as the island is distant from allied bases.

If we concentrated on defending our country rather than filling quotas we might not be behind China. I doubt if China worries about pandering to people who have gender issues or what tribe they come from(I use this term with resect to race). We have lost our minds and if we don't focus on what is urgent we will lose our country.

The US has Japan, S Korea, Taiwan, Australia, India. China has no such allies. This should be leveraged. If Trump was President, this comment would be redundant.

Can't or doesn't want to keep up. I'm sure there is a huge number of mothballed ships that could be called up for service if they could find the crew to man them, or woman them, or trans them, or bi them, or you get the picture.

In any war at sea that takes place off the China coast you have to figure that China would have a built in advantage by being able to locate and fire medium to long range missiles at large U.S. ships like aircraft carriers from anyplace in China, back from the coast, and out of range of US carrier borne aircraft. All it would take is about 10 big missile hits to knock out the entire US Pacific Fleet attack carrier force.

A few months back there was a story of the Ukrainians sinking a major Russian warship using a missile. It raised the question of whether naval assets are obsolete since they are sitting ducks.
Now we see a story about China becoming a major naval threat and the US needs to catch up. It's certainly believable that Chinese warships could be superior to Russian warships. Don't know if it's true.
Well, which is it? Is naval warfare obsolete or not?

When you spend massive amounts of money to fund Ukraine, illegal immigrants, unemployment for the lazy, interest on the national debt and all of the other welfare programs (and our students rank behind 3rd world countries) it shouldn't be a mystery why our military is on the decline.

#17 I have been saying that for years.
The Carrier today is what the Battleship was in 1942.
A big target with costly airplanes and 6,000 Americans just waiting to get hit by a missile.

More DM bs hysteria. Very few of Chinese navy ships can muster the enduance to range out even 1,000 miles, let alone take on the sea control missions that are needed to be a real "blue water navy".
China has a coastal navy, lots of tiny ships.
Thd median US ship is more than twice the displacement of the median Chinese navy ship.
Our smallest ships are twice the displacement of their smalkest ships. Small means short range, too. Internal volume increases at nearly the cube of waterline length, and a modestly longer ship will have a greatly increased fuel storage capacity.....and range.
