Let’s be brutally honest, shall we? And I mean to cast no aspersions on Walmart, but when even Walmart finally packs up and skedaddles out of your city, it’s a strong indication that your city is in pretty bad shape. And when Lori Lightfoot is your mayor, you live in Chicago, and you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Closing stores isn’t rare for Walmart, particularly given its more than 5,000 stores nationwide. As ABC affiliate WLS-TV in Chicago reported the giant retailer closed 160 stores over the past couple of years, but with 5,000 stores the company has to be flexible and the bottom line is, literally, it has to go

We were just in our local Lowe's we met a couple that just moved here (Middle Tennessee) from Chicago, they moved out because of crime and quality of life. I was going to ask them if they know why it's so bad (D'Rats) and if they were going to vote the same way her but their salesman showed up and whisked them away.

We've lost the great cities of America. In Chicago it's really ironic because they fought for years to keep Walmart out of the city. What a shame, losing another such beautiful city.
My mother's family were early settler's of the city. My grandmother's uncle was the Police Commissioner. Chicago was literally, in their bloodstream. Such a beautiful place with farsighted planners. A city that burned to the ground in 1871 and then welcomed the world to The World's Columbian Exposition of 1892-93 just 19 years later. Featuring Frederick Law Olmsted's Jackson Park, a horticultural masterpiece, was a main feature. Every tree, bridge and rock was was placed perfectly and cemented landscape architecture place in Chicago's history.
Now Olmsted's legacy has been taken from the people and given to Barrack Obama to chop up and use for his Presidential "library" and Community Center monstrosity. One of the first sign's of the rapid decay to come.
Chicago was always clean, full of friendly helpful people with great architecture, museum's shopping, lake front beaches, festival's, Italian Beef, and Pizza. Now much of the Magnificent Mile is empty and shuttered.
It's so painful to see what it has become. No one I know goes downtown much anymore. The friends who moved down to live the city life are back again, or in Florida.
Once again I'm thankful that our parents didn't live to see this. I really hate being grateful that they're gone.

When your stores are looted as a form of reparations for a past that none of the residents had anything to do with, your business model to make a profit goes out the door with the looted goods. Big Box and food deserts are created. Chicago is no different. Thank Lori Lightfoot for the lack of support for retail merchants.

Just wait until the black folks figure out that the closure of these stores affects them the most. Maybe they shouldn't have carried so many big-screens out the door.

Just one more thing to add to the list of things that make us want to split from these cretins who are destroying cities with their weird leftist policies.
I read yesterday that Biden has given Susan Rice charge of implementing CRT and DEI throughout the entire US government. Talk about dumbing down an entire government. They just don't give up their goal of destroying this country as founded. They want to remake it a la Mao. Well, they've got plenty of help from China to do that, don't they?

It must be racial that WM is puling our-- EVERYTHING is racial against black people as the media would have you believe..... what about those 5 MILLION crossing the border since the Vegetable took over????
We have much bigger problems than WM pulling up stakes, or Walgreens leaving San Fransicko by allowing people to steal them blind!!!

Mayor Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age movie series doesn't care. She's probably never been in a Walmart and really doesn't care if her citizens have a somewhat decent place to shop. Walmart and big stores like it only care about profits. Nothing more so if they feel like they can't keep Sam Walton's trust funded kids in the billions they'll go elsewhere. Also #3 you're right. If Dollar General which I hear is worse to work at than Wally World (but also only cares about profits) leaves then you really have problems in your city.

In antibusiness environments, businesses lose money and eventually the close up. This should surprise no one. A business exists ONLY to make a profit. If the conditions, for whatever reasons, make it impossible to make a profit.....the business closes.
Uncontrollable shoplifting and violence will make it impossible to make a profit. Chicago is an overflowing sewer, a violent, criminal place and the police will not do what is necessary to "keep the peace", so businesses leave. Like water running downhill - this should surprise no one with a few brain cells.
