Former President Donald Trump waded into the debt ceiling impasse on Friday, urging Republicans to protect hardworking Americans and seniors by not cutting money from entitlement programs.
'Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security to pay for Joe Biden's reckless spending spree,' Trump said in a video message.
It comes as House Republicans flex their muscles, warning Democrats that they will only help head off a crisis and raise the debt ceiling if it comes with sweeping cuts to spending programs.

Sound advice. His advice on abortion is sound too. Assuming you want to win elections. It’s political advice.

I wish they'd stop calling it "debt". It's really just the national low-risk savings pool. People that have more cash than they need and want to get risk-free income buy Treasuries. Very rich people don't want to take the principal risk of stocks and like getting guaranteed checks from the Treasury instead. The Treasury is happy to pay this Universal Basic Income, although most of it goes to pension funds and about 40% goes to foreign investors.

Stop sending money to Ukraine. Stop buying Putin’s oil. Use our own. Earth makes oil everyday. Oil is not made from dead dinosaurs. Easy fix. If the Dems cared about this country they would! But. They won’t.

This is why boosting the economy through private investment is just as important as spending cuts.

The NeverTrumping RINOs might have no intention to avoid cutting Medicare or Social Security, or they may not have the option. It's possible that this is PDJT virtue signaling to resist being drawn back into the mainstream-GOP blob.

Why is there an emergency. Why doo we have to cut out what is meant for Americans. Just cut all funding going to foreign nations including Ukraine until we have money to spare. There is no excuse for continuing debt. This happens every year. You would think people would have caught on by now.

An interesting fact from Trump's tax returns is that he does not take Social Security payments. The media has conveniently ignored this, preferring instead to report, falsely, that did not donate his Presidential salary.
How many other wealthy people who do not need Social Security decline to take it? Certainly not Biden.

Redistribution of American wealth away from the citizens who earned it requires a large number corrupt politicians to make it happen. I would hate to see Republicans jump on Biden's America Last bandwagon. His invasion invitation has dumped 5 million unvetted non-citizens into American communities, and dumped responsibility for them on the American people, who had NO VOICE. Biden simply dictated to the American people how it was going to be, and so far he has gotten away with it. His invaders are living it up in luxury hotels, and showing their "appreciation" by trashing their rooms, partying and drinking, and throwing away foods American citizens are now reduced to buying on credit thanks to Joe's incompetence.
I agree with Donald Trump that cutting benefits to Americans is not appropriate under these circumstances. Biden opened the border. The longer he stays in office, the poorer Americans become, and the more at risk they are from drugs, disease and crime Biden invited into our country.
Worst. President. Ever.

Outstanding political posturing President Trump! You took away the democrats primary argument for raising the debt ceiling. They always claim Republicans will cut those two programs as a scare tactic that’s effective on the low info types. Great to be way out front on this one!!

Even President Trump misses the point on the climate change scam.
He should ask the scsmmers to produce the data which irrefutably proves their theory. The data not only DOESN'T exist - - in fact - - it's IMPOSSIBLE for it TO exist.
When are the Pubbies going to wake up - - and demand to see the (nonexistent) data?

I read several years ago Uncle Sugar sent $$ to over 100 countries. Just stop it and stop sending billion$$$$ to Ukraine and that would solve a lot of our problems.

First, McCarthy and company need to frame this as previous Democrat controlled Congress irresponsibly spending money they didn't have without ensuring they had sufficient debt room
Second, McCarthy has already stated he won't touch Medicare or Social Security in any circumstance.
Third, make the Joe Biden wear this budget scheme by signing the Omnibus bill all the while KNOWING there wasn't actual funding to pay for it.
Lastly, today the Press Secretary stated they won't negotiate, as if to force the new Congress to resolve a budget problem that never needed to be happen.

You would think that our republicans would not need an explanation that this action would be national suicide but you can't take anything for granted these days.
