So Los Angeles has a new mayor -- the far-left Karen Bass, and it hasn't taken long for changes to kick in, letting the police know she doesn't have their back. Latest news is this diktat from above, as reported by Fox News: The Los Angeles Police Department banned the Thin Blue Line flag from public areas within police departments this week over a complaint that the flag represented "violent, extremist views."

Comments:

This makes me wish I still lived in California -- so I could leave the state again!

Conservatives can send in tens of thousands of complaints about something, and they are totally ignored. But one lie-beral makes a single complaint, and lie-beral dictator-wanna-be bureaucrats have to immediately change everything to appease him/her/it.

There is nothing so evil a liberal wont advocate for it and try to pass laws mandating it. Even so, I dont fly the blue lives flag. Its just more virtue signaling only its on our side this time. Sure cops lives matter. Most of them anyway. That should not need a flag.

If you ban one special interest flag, ban all special interest flags. The claim can be made that there are extremists in every group that has their "flag". Ban the Rainbow flag because of the militant LGBTQ groups and see the reaction from the Mayor and the LGBTQ crowd.

Anyone who doesn't leave this state kind of earns what they have to live with. This ridiculous nonsense that cops cannot be proud or say their lives matter too has got to stop. What I find interesting is this flag doesn't just represent white cops, it also represents minority cops as well. Way to not have their back Mayor.

I believe Police Chief's are generally politically appointed while County Sheriff's are elected. The contrast in LEO leader results has been clear on occasion with politically toady LAPD Chief statements/actions like this bonehead move. Meanwhile the responsible-to-the-people LA County SherIff gives the people straight talk recently stating, e.g. These days we in law enforcement cannot always protect you in time so you need to protect yourselves first.

As a former naval officer and retired LEO, I'm not in favor of altering the American flag, whether it is for some foolish "pride" event or to show support for a worthy cause. The Thin Blue Line outfit and those who support it should have their own flag.

San Francisco’s reparations committee has proposed paying each Black longtime resident $5 million and granting total debt forgiveness due to the decades of "systematic repression" faced by the local Black community. The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which advises the city on developing a plan for reparations for Black residents, released its draft report last month to address reparations – not for slavery, since California was not technically a slave state, but "to address the public policies explicitly created to subjugate Black people in San Francisco by upholding and expanding the intent and legacy of chattel slavery."

With each gallon of gas pumped in the United States since 1932, drivers have been paying taxes. The revenue is used for road repairs and public transportation such as train and bus systems. Currently, the Fed takes 18.4 cents per gallon for gas or 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel. State gas taxes range from a national high of 61 cents for gas in Pennsylvania, to a low of 8.95 cents in Alaska. But environmentally motivated improvements in fuel efficiency and the move to electric vehicles (EVs) translate to less gas sold, resulting less tax revenue collected. State and federal governments are looking for a new way to fund transportation.

One of the major wins of the McCarthy drama that gripped Congress last week was a pledge from the new Speaker to release all of the January 6 riot footage. Via Newsweek: "Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McCarthy said he intends to make public the thousands of hours of footage from the insurrection—something Republicans have long called for, as part of attempts to exonerate both lawmakers and civilians accused of wrongdoing in connection to the riots. McCarthy said that he would consider releasing all the footage as the 'public should see what happened' that day, rather than rely on the report from the House Select Committee which investigated the attack."

Much of the commentary concerning the presence of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center office and the President’s Delaware home has focused on the delay between the discovery and the public revelation of that discovery. There is another question about the timing, however, that no one seems to have asked: Why were classified documents that had been in Biden’s possession since 2017 suddenly found less than 90 days after the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound?
