About those Trump tax returns

I never cared much about Donald Trump’s tax returns. Why should I? Why should anybody? So I pretty much ignored all the hoopla surrounding the release when they were dumped out into the public. Of all the presidents we have had in the past few decades, Trump was the one least likely to use his office to get rich. He is already rich. So rich that he donated his salary every year that he was president. All the ridiculous talk of emoluments, schemes to use the office to enrich himself seemed beside the point. Trump loves himself some money and will do ridiculous things to make it, but even if he

Of course, the fact that Trump did not take his $400,000 a year salary as president isn't even mentioned.

President Trump relinquished control of his private companies to his sons while in office. Therefore, his only direct income for four years would have been his $400,000 salary and maybe some interest or gains on private holdings. He paid millions in taxes his first year in office, and after that the tax would taper toward zero as his income was limited. I guess democrats don’t apply logic to anything they do.

Trump knew, of course, that his personal tax returns were carefully prepared and in order because he is a high net-worth individual. People at this level have one or more businesses that are where the real financial complexity operates, and he had provided all the required information on these as part of running for office. His denial of his personal information was a noble effort to defend the long-established practice of not digging through the personal records of the President without justification to simply embarrass or distract him. The case for Joe Biden is quite different. Evidence from the laptop and other records provided by Ukrainian journalists and investigators makes a serious case for charging him with money laundering to hide income. As President Trump pointed out, it's quite remarkable that someone who has only been a salaried US Senator for their entire life could legitimately acquire enough wealth to buy multiple multi-million-dollar personal properties. The thing Biden is relying on is that he knows many of the other members of the Senate have also been running side hustles through fake NGOs and other shell companies around the world. It takes a thief to know a thief.

With the left finally jumping with joy over the nothing burger of President Trumps taxes, it has now set the bar low enough to allow any GOP congress to do the same to Clinton (both), Obama and of course the entire Biden family of criminals, to include Nasty Nancy, Schumer and the rest of the bottom feeders in congress. First they illegally forced the IRS to give them Trumps returns. Then they look over the forms hoping to find something they could prosecute Trump for. When they could find nothing prosecutable they release his forms to the public. It was a criminal process and they should be held liable for it. But the weak republicans will do nothing.

I like the higher standard deduction that Trump gave us. But the reality is the mortgage interest deduction was made pretty much moot. We don't even bother saving receipts anymore because there is no way we can itemize and exceed the standard deduction. The Dems wanted Trump's tax returns made public because that reveals his business dealings in a way that punishes his ability to do business in the future. It's hard to make a good deal when your customer knows your profit history.

Sam Bankman-Fried, the man at the center of the FTX scandal, is back on US soil after having been extradited from the Bahamas to face federal charges. Naturally, because our justice system is about as coherent as a two-year-old quoting Shakespeare, the notorious fraudster was immediately granted bail and is now spending the holidays with his family. The American oligarchy is alive and well. But I digress, there’s a lot more to the FTX scandal than just Bankman-Fried’s fate, and one of the more interesting aspects of the entire ordeal is just how close many Democrats were to him. If they wanted to release it at the worst time to have people pay any attention to it, they could scarcely have picked a better time — in the week before Christmas — when everyone is occupied with other things. But the problem for the Committee is that most of the Americans they would like to convince have long since stopped paying attention to the farce. He also said Trump's "political clout has diminished." These days you are wasting your money if you pour resources into lobbyists. These days you can directly buy government. Mark Zuckerberg spent his money in 2020 purchasing the actual mechanism by which which elections are conducted; and while this was expected, I think we can be pretty confident that he was satisfied with the results of his purchase. “Zuckerbucks” went directly to election officials, and while they didn’t directly purchase vote totals, they certainly had an effect on the outcome. But that was not the most efficient use of his money, it turned out. Zuckerberg poured $350 million more or less into the electoral system,

Washington - The House approved a $1.7 trillion spending package Friday, a day after the Senate adopted the sweeping bill despite a last-minute tussle between Republicans and Democrats over southern border policies. The House vote, which provides funding of domestic and foreign programs through Sept. 30, took place only hours before the government would have run out of money and would have had to initiate a partial federal shutdown. The chamber passed the legislation largely along party lines, 225-201, with nine Republicans joining Democrats to approve the spending package. One Democrat sided with Republicans in opposing the bill. The package now heads to President Joe Biden for his signature.

As RedState previously reported, a new book is dishing on Joe Biden’s first year in the White House, and there are some interesting stories being told. According to author Chris Whipple, the president has a penchant for losing his cool and dropping four-letter words in relation to the border crisis, a situation that is more relevant now than ever. For context, October saw a new record of illegal crossings, and 22 days into December as of this writing, the administration hasn’t even bothered to release November’s numbers. I think we can all ascertain what that means. Here’s how Whipple described Biden’s lack of composure via sources inside the White House.

This began, of course, just after the 2022 Midterm elections wrapped up. There was a cone of silence over the problem–polling indicated that Americans were very concerned about immigration. But once the votes had been cast and the Democrats for the most part saved the media clearly felt more comfortable covering the facts. And the facts are indeed bad. Thousands of migrants are illegally crossing the Rio Grande in the region, and it makes good sense for them to do so.
