Fallen FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried will be released on a $250million bond, according to a deal struck today in a New York City courtroom.
The disgraced financier had recently claimed to have just $100,000 to his name.
He was arrested in the Bahamas last week on a range of fraud and money laundering charges for what prosecutors described as one of the biggest financial crimes in American history.
They allege that he used his crypto-trading platform as a 'personal piggy bank', convincing investors to mark their billions with him only to funnel their assets into his own company.

What are the over and under odds that Sam and his parents both fly the coop, and are never seen again?

Many Knotsee Pukes wear their uniforms underneath black robes. Throw Fried into general population and let the "feast" begin.

Bail is the money which 'encourages' the accused to show up for trial. Most of us as ordinary, less wealthy, people have to borrow the money for bail which costs about 10% of the total bail bond. When borrowed that up-front 10% isn't returned. If Bankman-Fried shows up for trial the bail is returned to whomever put up the money (death or being suicided also excuses someone). Damn! That is a lot of moola.

With NYC's current no-bail policy, I'm surprised they even charged him this token amount for bail. He and his parents undoubtedly have a few billion stuck away here and there. A billion is a thousand million, so $250 million is a relatively insignificant amount to forfeit for a multi-billionaire. And there are many places in the world that would shelter them in return for a few million dollars worth of greased palms.

Normally he would need $25 million as collateral for a $250 million bond. So you can bet he has some big bucks stashed away, and who knows how much of that stash is hidden in foreign bank accounts!

Mummy and Daddy put their house up as collateral for bail. What I would like to know is how two Stanford professors can afford a house worth $25 million (10% of the $250 million dollar bail bond).

First , NYS's insane bail l limitations do not apply to a federal criminal action.
Second, I really try to avoid theorizing in wild directions because of my arbitration mindset.y
This case is different.
There is a good possibility that this case dirties
up a lot of famous people and well known politicians.
The Ukraine and our military aid may even be a part
of it.

And patriots who wandered to THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE on January 6, 2021 are still rotting in a DC gulag. What has happened to this country? I despise those in charge.

#5 and 16, I am reminded of a line from a serious, biting political essay written by Mark Twain late in his life:
"The great Ship of State drifted rudderless, it's helm in Pirate hands."
This administration is full of evil people.

It’s not $250 million bail. It’s $250 million bond. There’s a difference. The prosecutors did this to make it look like they’re tough. They’re jokes and SBF will walk.

Put him in a room alone with a few of the people he robbed. No need for a trial.

Isn't that like letting the bank robber pay his bail with the stolen money from the bank robbery?
The only reason he can pay the bond is that he bilked people out of money.
Anyone with that kind of money has the ability to disappear and have surgery to change his looks.
