Impeaching DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for failing to secure the southern border does not appear to have the support of the some Republican senators.
As border patrol has encountered more than 2.3 million illegal aliens at the border, with over 230,000 migrant encounters in October, establishment Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) appear averse to holding Mayorkas accountable for the southern border invasion.
“Someone has to commit a high crime or misdemeanor for that to be a valid inquiry,” Romney told Politico about impeachment standards. “I haven’t seen any accusation of that nature whatsoever.”

This is called leadership in DC. Impeach the president for encouraging his supporters to peaceful protest and redress grievances with the goobernment but let the mastermind of the Southern border invasion continue to undermine the citizens of the US. Yep, pure DC leadership. The rest f us call it cowardice and betrayal.

I hasten to say it, but in retrospect, I am not sure that Mittens would not have been as destructive to America as Obama had he won in 2012. Utah needs to step up next time and get rid of Romney for someone with a “pair”.

do the voters of Utah and Maine ever wake up in the morning embarrassed to have Senators that have no concern for their voice or opinions?

Unable to move most things through the Senate, House Democrats have entertained their base, including especially the media, with melodramatic impeachments that were DOA in the other chamber. Everyone knew it from the start, but it was great sport at the NYT, et al. I would rather our party not look vengeful, regardless of the merits. Independents are looking for leadership on programs that will have GOP support in 2024. Sure, have hearings to expose the facts, but let the Dems wallow in the evidence without circling the wagons to arouse their own base. Forget cheap theater. Impeachment is impractical.

We are quickly seeing that conservatives won nothing in the 2022 elections. The Republicans are betraying their voters and in their faces.

Mitt is the disappointment that just keeps on giving. I bet he has a nice villa in China somewhere, as compensation for his constant selling out of America. Maybe right next to the Biden's place.

I would love to see a couple of Democrat Senators jump ship and come over to the Republican Side. That would make the RINOS in the Senate unable to stop the work that needs to be done. Sinema and maybe Manchin would be good starters. They could shake things up considerably! OMG that would certainly drive the Democrats to jump from tall buildings!

Neither Romney or Collins will have any say in a Republican led House where impeachment actually happens. The Senate will not remove him from office regardless, again with no help needed from these two. Their irrelevant input is an attention getter for the media. Whatever.

Technically this means nothing, as the House impeaches and the Senate hold the trial. But it’s just classic Republican, giving away their leverage without even trying. It really is a Uniparty.

Weird that they say Romney and Collins are "Republican" Senators. I suppose that technically they do belong to the Republican party, but really they should be designated (U-UT) and (U-ME) as members of the ruling Uniparty.

Why don't they just change their affiliation to democrat and be done with it?
An even better question is why do their voters keep sending them back to congress????
I am quite sure that Bill Cassidy will not get another term in Louisiana after "coming out" as a liberal.

May-dork-ass is a sawed off, slimy, repugnant little grubworm who has willfully neglected his duty to defend my homeland and lied about it. It does not surprise me in the least that idiot RINOs like Romney and Collins would not want to impeach the toilet ring in a suit. Both garbage humans did vote to confirm him after all.

The Democrats may hold a 51-49 lead in the Senate, but with Romney, Collins, and Murkowski as reliable Leftists, it's actually 55-45. Hershel Walker's loss had no bearing on Senate control.
