Senate Passes vote to make same-sex marriage
federal law - with 11 Republicans joining
all Democrats to send bill back to the House

The United States Senate voted to enshrine the right to same-sex and interracial marriage into federal law on Tuesday.  The Respect For Marriage Act passed on a 61-36 vote. Eleven Republicans voted with Democrats on the measure. It now heads back to the House of Representatives, where it's likely to pass the Democrat-controlled chamber swiftly enough to head to President Joe Biden's desk before the current Congressional term is over.  Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin, who helped spearhead the bill, appeared emotional on the chamber floor before the final vote.

"Respect for Marriage Act" ranks even above the "Affordable Healthcare Act" in its Orwellian deceit. Sickening. BUT.. on the other hand, and I have not read the bill, the Federal Government does have a role to play here as the inconsistency of State's laws have impact on a number of Federal legal issues and going across state lines cold turn a 'married filing jointly couple' into two 'single filers' as well as issues dealing with spousal social security payments, federal pensions etc. Not saying it is a good thing, but when you open up that can of worms on the state level - what is the answer to these questions? I can see how some of these issues could have propelled this through in a mildly bipartisan manner.

This is purely for show. Or maybe there are too many stupid Senators who can't understand the Constitution. If, like abortion rights, the Court doesn't see a right in the Constituion (no matter how many "penumbras" the Dem justices claim there are), then gay marriage goes back to the states just like abortion.

The letter ended, saying (in 1983 or 1984): “Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. Redefining God’s definition of marriage is not in any way respect. Regardless of what any human says, God is the ultimate definer of marriage, one man, one woman. Can we now just bypass the government all together and go to church to get married. No need for government interference. Stop getting a license for something that has been redefined. Say your vows before and forget it.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy put White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in the hot seat during Wednesday’s press briefing, asking her when the White House plans to shut down its Twitter account. “When are you guys gonna delete the White House Twitter account?” Doocy asked simply. “Why would we do that?” asked Jean-Pierre, seeking clarification that most people in her position probably wouldn’t need. (Video) In his clarification, Doocy referred to prior skepticism expressed in press briefings about Twitter under its current CEO, Elon Musk. “Well, you say you’re keeping an eye on Twitter because it might not be a suitable platform. So, why use it?” he asked.

Joe Biden’s energy policy doesn’t make a lot of sense. The only way it makes any sense is if you’re trying to kill the American energy industry. He’s been attacking the energy industry since the first day that he came into office. That’s part of the reason that the price of gas under Biden hit record numbers. Then to pretend he’s addressing that, he’s been artificially trying to keep the price low by draining our Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That puts our national security at risk if there is a true emergency and not just Joe trying to help the Democrats during the election.
