President Joe Biden’s unilateral move to implement a student loan forgiveness plan that “will include at least $10,000 in loan forgiveness for borrowers who make less than $125,000 annually, as well as another payment freeze for roughly four months” has understandably set off a firestorm nationwide, with Republicans lining up to express their outrage over Biden doing a dictatorial end run around Congress.
But Republicans aren’t the only ones ripping Biden. He’s also faced intense criticism from some surprising corners, including from Rep. Chris Pappas (D-N.H.)
Across-the-board grandstanding on a grand scale.

From a political standpoint, loan forgiveness is really dumb. Does he think the AOC fringe that is pushing for debt forgiveness is suddenly going to vote Republican? He has these voters whether he forgives their loans or not. And I doubt if he will pick up any Republican or independent votes. As someone whose daughter would actually benefit from forgiveness, I'm still against it and would never change my vote based on such a fiscally irresponsible move.

PS
How about those idiots who didn't get a DEGREE and copped out early with a big fat loan.?
Seems like they are first in line for forgiveness.

It appears that the democrats objections are related to who gets what, not the fact that Biden is openly violating the Constitution relative to the "power of the purse" for government expenditures and obligations to expend funds being exclusively granted to Congress. The $300+ billion has to come from somewhere but no president has the unilateral authority to re-program dollars authorized and appropriated by Congress for other purposes. Beyond violating the Constitution, as if that weren't enough to impeach, Biden is also committing a felony by knowingly violating the Antideficiency Act, signed into Public Law 97-258.

Why are all the media including conservative media, using $125K as the income limit? It is $250K for a married couple! A married couple filing jointly, will get 10K forgiveness if only one of them has a student loan and $20K if they both have a student loan. $250K is a lot of money. Need to start giving the real limits on income in every article or post.

I wonder if the greedy little slugs who qualify for this and are cheering it realize that they will pay for it themselves through TaliBiden’s upcoming tax hikes. If you’re making $125K a year, you’re paying taxes.

what about those of us who, being resposible adults, taking advantage of the 0% Loan Holiday of the last 2 years to accelerate and finally pay off their kids student debt. We sacrificed a lot to accelerate those payments and now we are the ones who get screwed. Now I am going to have to sacrifice even more to pay off someone elses 2 year loan holiday
If they had a $250 student loan payment each mont and have made no payments for 2 years they have already gotten a $7000 reprieve. Thats enough.

This story is just one more example of America beginning to fight back in a serious way. Today’s news is riddled with such stories. This is a good thing. Keep praying, people, it’s working. Pray and get active. There is no substitute for either.

The treasoncrats that are complaining about this aren't upset at the loan forgiveness. There are miffed that they can't campaign on having voted for it. Their upset the procedure wasn't followed.

This establishes precedent for the Executive office to do anything it wants regarding money and budget.

Will these $10,000 and $20,000 payoffs be taxable as income? They should be.
