California truck drivers and environmental groups presented their concerns about a proposal under consideration by state air regulators to phase out the sale of medium and heavy-duty gas-powered vehicles within the next 20 years. The California Air Resources Board held its first public hearing this week to receive feedback from the public on the proposal, which the board will likely consider in Spring 2023.

I don’t know what they need trucks for anyway. In fact, they get offended just seeing one.
If they need something they’ll just go to the store and get it or order it online. There’s no need for those big ugly smelly trucks or the Trump supporters that drive them.
In fact, we ought to mandate a cure for all cancer by 2030 and penalize researchers who refuse to develop the cure by then; that’s plenty of time. We are elected officials and we have the answers!

How do these idiots expect to get food delivered to enough stores in enough areas to keep themselves fed? Or is it that those that propose such a ridiculous idea will have a way to obtain food, and to the Hades with the rest of California?

So every Walmart has train tracks? They can't build one hi-speed rail yet they think every business in CA will have tracks installed?

California produces more food than any other state. Can electric trucks even get over the Sierra Nevada Mountains? Food, etc. would have to be transferred to diesel trucks for the long haul once it past the state line. This sort of thing would hurt everyone.

In a state as large as California the speed limit for trucks remains 55 mph, even on the Interstates/freeways.

Hello, Florida!!! The new purveyor of fresh fruits and vegetables...
This notion would be the death of California agriculture when there is no transportation to move produce to market, so other states will welcome the business!

Either the citizens of the state are OK with government-mandated suicide by starvation, or one would soon expect to see their politicians and unelected, policy-making bureaucrats hanging from lamp posts in fairly short order. To illustrate how insane the bureaucrats pushing "renewable" energy are, how are the giant windmill components, (e.g., blades, turbines, towers, etc.) and the acres of solar panels and converters supposed to get to the wind/sun fields from their manufacturing facilities? 20 mule team conveyance once again, or Ox carts? 'Death Valley Days' is about to take on a whole new meaning. It would also behoove the red/purple states, whose import/export goods pass through West Coast ports, to start finding and implementing other port arrangements soonest. I guess the Mexican cartels will have new, lucrative smuggling opportunities for grains and flour instead of dope (pssst, ya want some good Barley or a pound of primo wheat?). Their regulations even purport to include "federal fleets," ignoring the fact that our interstate highway system was initially justified and funded to expedite military convoys as needed to move about the country. In response, I would expect a Republican Congress and President Trump or DeSantis to close the 32 military bases and additional federal research institutions that pump many billions annually into California's economy and transfer those activities to other states. No trucks, no military bases. No threats, just actions with explanation after the deed is done. For example, shift the many US Navy and Marine Corps assets and personnel clustered in and around San Diego to Gulf Coast ports and close Camp Pendleton, along with Barstow and 29 Palms Marine Corps bases, and numerous Air Force facilities, transferring them south of San Antonio, TX, facing our southern border with some teeth. A lot of California's claimed wealth is US taxpayer subsidized. Aside from the direct costs of military personnel and facilities, there are agglomeration economies associated with military spending that pumps many billions more into the California economy. Why subsidize insane leftists, whose policies will only impoverish, starve, and kill you? Without the California agricultural products that will no longer be able to be grown and distributed nationally, California loses most of its homegrown economic value. Those blue states copying California should also have their federal facilities closed and their functions/personnel transferred to other states, at a minimum. Honoring blue state's rights doesn't have to include subsidizing them.

Sounds like interference with interstate commerce to me. Regulation of interstate commerce is specifically awarded to Congress by the constitution.

China must want to build more diesel vehicles.
Just like with the coal fired electric plants, for every one you shut down, China builds two more and also benefits from reduced demand for coal from the gullible dummies in the West.

This is certainly ripe for a government challenge using the Supremacy Clause as well as the Commerce Clause. This attempt is a direct assault on interstate trade, period. Congress needs to get its act together once it is constituted of halfway intelligent representatives, and put an end to the California monopoly on our national way of life.

You know, the ones that have to stop to recharge every 10 miles.

Democrats want to return to ox cart days like you see in Zorro movies. Maybe a 100 could pull one container, but then LA smog would be caused by ox farts. Democrats essentially have their heads up where their farts originate.

No more diesel rigs. All goods in Kalifornia must be shipped on the bullet train. This will not only save the world - - it will be much faster.
