Twitter users have seized on one moment from the surveillance footage showing the police response to Uvalde school shooting.
The video, published by the Austin American-Statesman and KVUE on Tuesday, is a disturbing 77-minute recording showing officers in body armor milling in the hallway of Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24 while a gunman carried out a massacre inside a classroom.
The footage from a hallway camera inside the school shows in grim detail how heavily armed officers—some carrying rifles and ballistic shields—waited more than an hour before going inside and confronting the gunman. Nineteen children and two teachers were killed in the mass shooting.
In any case, nobody could restrain me in that situation.

Also, he should be able to point out exactly who was the person who was in charge that held him back then

From the article: "Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt wrote: “Checkin my neat-o phone with the punisher logo (sooo cool!) while i’m hidin listenin to the kids gettin killed (punisher is so badass also i like deadpool & john wick).”
A real gem - Patton Oswalt. Not.

He's inside, he has a gun, so instead of finding the shooter and killing him he's..... checking text messages? Put the damn phone down, find the guy with the rifle and SHOOT HIM.
This doesn't change the fact that the cops on the scene were cowards, and a disgrace to the badge.

6,
He is not just checking text messages. He is checking text messages from his WIFE who had been SHOT.
And, like it or not, family members involved or not, there is a CHAIN of COMMAND. You and I can envision ourselves rushing down the hallway and breaking through the door in an adrenaline-fueled heroic rage, gun drawn and eyes on target - taking the killer out with a shot between the eyes in an instant flash of glory. But that is just our imagination. We do not know what was going on in his mind. We may never. But I suspect part of the equation was what his superiors had ordered him to do - stand down for now.
I do not blame Ruiz. I blame his superior officers. I blame the lack of authority given to the officers who could have easily shot the killer before he even entered the building.
And on that last point. There ought to be a STANDING RULE. Present yourself on school property with a firearm drawn (and you are not on security staff) and you become an immediate target for lethal force. Period. Period.

Think, people, THINK! The man had a text tone that he KNEW was from his WIFE who was INSIDE being shot! And you criticize HIM for "checking his text messages"? Get a life, idiots!

The officer has a phone in his left hand, and a handgun in his right hand, so he is not disarmed---but has been intimidated by his fellow officers not to act. As it was his wife, most people would have gone in with a handgun.

This is what has become of our media and social media. Just run with the story and sort it out later, corrections can be made on the bottom of page 21 next week.

Context/timeline...that snap shot of him checking an incoming call/text was immediately after the shooter entered the building, he was 4th cop through the door, he was left to cover the corner, the other three went down the hall looking for the shooter...seconds later shooter shot through the wall at them, grazing at least one...they then retreated back to the corner where this cop was stationed.

But the telescreen told me the cops were cowards. They must be cowards. All of them. The Ministry of Truth says so. Some of them also like clean hands. Alternative facts are not allowed. If you believe any of them you have committed a ThoughtCrime.
This all rhymes with the "Two Minutes of Hate" daily program in Orwell's 1984 that was designed to rile up the citizenry and get them to reinforce their fear/hatred of whoever Big Brother deems the "outsider".
Defund the Police anyone? Cowards.

In Texas, real po-lice members of real SWAT teams, vs yokels who dress up in cammos and sport tactical gear, are screened psychologically and do not have a history of acting like a “cowboy” with a badge. SWAT commanders have a very serious responsibility to harness the energy of their tactical officers and following the orders of their commanders is most essential. The big problem in Uvalde began and ended with the school district police chief, a former 911 dispatcher, who assumed incident command and never handed it off to more competent leadership. That chief couldn’t even kiss a real po-lice behind if he stood on his daddy’s shoulders. A real SWAT team leader would have made entry with no more than two experienced officers even as the gunfire from the killer was active. With the cell phone communication advantage, planning an entry would have taken about 15 seconds. Coming in behind a flash-bang would have provided adequate distraction to cover getting through the door and taking out the shooter in about a second, since the suspect was not barricaded. The whole takedown should have not lasted more than a half minute. Watching the wannabe SWAT officers completely botch the hallway movement told me their training was exceptionally poor but the real failure was in their non-existent leadership. I wasn’t there but have spent a decade as an entry team leader and a couple more decades commanding tactical units from three different levels of government. Even if I only had one of my civilian daughters with me, all of whom trained in weapons and tactics, we would have made an early entry, acknowledging that we may both be dead along with the shooter. That’s the chance you take when you accept the job and it’s responsibilities. Firemen do no less on a daily basis across this country.

Just goes to show how todays media, not having all of the information, will make up their own information or fill in the blanks themselves not caring whether they are correct or not. It is the story that matters, not the accuracy of the reporting that is important to them. Never mind that they (and the general public) all looked at the picture) and drew the wrong conclusions based on their own previous incorrect reporting.

Had they not been standing there in the hallway while the deranged gunman was happily firing away at the children and this man's wife, maybe more people would be alive right now. Why the hell was he checking his phone when he knew his wife was in danger, let alone all of those children?

I never had a problem with him looking at his phone for updates.
I was more bothered by the guy getting hand cleaner and the other one wearing latex gloves.
But I am not sure I buy that a man knows his wife has been shot, and may be in their dying and he is able to stand down and follow directions from his idiot coward of a boss who had them waiting in the hall!!!!

The officer was disarmed shortly after the picture was taken and he hasn't been able to get in again! His wife is now dead because of that!
