Actor Matthew McConaughey is facing heavy backlash after endorsing gun control laws, arguing they are an “acceptable sacrifice” for supporters of the Second Amendment.
The actor — famous for wielding weapons in movies such as The Gentleman, Reign of Fire, and Sahara — also spoke at a White House press briefing on Tuesday, where he called for red flag law, raising the age to purchase an AR-15 rifle to 21, and background checks.

Kicked over the hornet’s nest.
He is an actor, now a producer of a shoot ‘em up movie. Why pay any attention to him? Not worth a rise in the bp.

He's Beto Junior. He can also forget playing roles like "True Detective." He will be despised from here on out.

A seriously stupid move. But, always remember, those "Brilliant lines" that these actors come up with - are written by someone else and they just memorize them. They aren't ANYTHING that they thought up, and often they are barely capable of linear thinking on their own.

Matt should heed the wise words of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell: "Voicing political opinions is detrimental to actors."

Who put Matthew McConaughey in charge of our constitutional rights?

He and Liam Neeson have the same streak of hypocrisy running down their liberal backs with regards to the weapons they brandish in movies. Brothers from another mother kind of situation I would say. Heaven help Texas if he ever decided to run for governor.

The 2A remains absolute, no matter what legislation is passed by the Fed. The only way fed legislation is legal is amendments are made to the Constitution and the 2A. Get all existing federal gun legislation to the SCOTUS. It is not valid.

McConaughey is an actor.
Maybe he needs to watch a movie called "Shindler's List" to see what happens when despot governments disarm their peasants for "the greater safety of the society" (or whatever other BS terms the dictator-wanna-be's use). It's a whole lot easier to get those undesirable peasants in those cattle cars for transport to the camps when they can't shoot back!!!
"Red flag" laws also sound a lot like what the Stasi of the old East Germany used to round up and eradicate political enemies of the state. Just saying...

When a big-time well known Hollywood actor steps into a political issue like this you know they are in serious trouble and need someone like Matthew to go out and sell it. He is a pitchman and made a big mistake. Alright alright alright....turn in your guns, be good kids, wait until you are 21 to buy a nice new AR-15, and never point a loaded gun at anyone.

Well Matt, you are entitled to your opinion, some of your speech actually made sense, BUT on the other hand why don't you stop making movies that glorify the use of these weapons you so distain, why don't you stop making movies that glorifies violence to solve problems of any kind for any reason, movies that resonate with the people who are committing these atrocities, and leave the good honest people who want to protect themselves and their families alone, because the government will not prosecute criminals. The government that lets them go free with barely a slap on the hand. Would love to know who kissed ass the most in your private meeting with Joe (clueless) Biden. I support the second ammendment and FJB and his ilk.

Iconoclastic stand-in covering for Brandon the shuffling, feeble Vegetable and for the "not-ready-for-Prime-time" minister of propaganda inept 'press secretary'.
Expect more of this tactic of using Hollyweird types to talk down the 2nd Amendment so Brandon doesn't have to make an appearance...

They keep saying (expanded) backgrounded checks. You already undergo a background check through the FBI/NICS. If derogatory ifnmration ism not reported, the expanded or any background checks will not catch it.

I knew there was a reason why I chose not to follow a career in theatre. People will snicker over my choice in anthropology but all I have to do is point at the egregious arrogance and pride of people like the Yacht Girl and Mr Nude Bongos. Im definetly smarter than they are.

Don't you just love Hollywood telling us lowly people how to live again? Isn't it enough that society has deteriorated with what Hollywood thinks is okay to do? Hollywood, along with their political counterparts, have taken God out of society and we in America now have to deal with the mess they created. More and more laws only for the Democrats and liberals to ignore. . .

Please learn a lesson about jumping on the support wagon for actors who voice a tiny bit of conservatism. MM is a leftist who speaks with a Southern drawl; don't get it twisted. He just outed himself. He's a freaking actor!
