On Wednesday, the Florida Senate passed a bill to abolish the “Reedy Creed Improvement District.” This “improvement district” was created to benefit the Disney corporation in 1967. Today, the Florida House of Representatives passed the bill and sent it to Governor Ron DeSantis for signature. The bill passed by the legislature on Thursday would eliminate the Reedy Creek Improvement District, as the Disney government is known, as well as a handful of other similar districts by June 2023. The measure does allow for the districts to be reestablished, leaving an avenue to renegotiate its future. It now moves to DeSantis’ office to be signed into law.

Disney have themselves to thank for this. Woke Corporations who think they can meddle with State Legislatures, especially in conservative States, may want to think twice.

Child groomers should be taken out and shot! They can’t be reformed! They are so demented that God has cast them over to their evil desires! Redemption is no longer possible if you harm children!

What's amazing are the same Lefties who complain about Corporations "not paying" their fair share of taxes, are not complaining about Disney and Walt Disney World's tax avoidance because of the LGBTQ+ hysteria. Disney will get what's coming to it. Unfortunately that just means higher prices to the consumer as the tax bill will be passed on to them. Gay Day at WDW will become more expensive. The irony is not lost.

The man knows the difference between bloviating and taking care of business. It helps to have a legislature that's not fighting him under the table, but if he did, he'd probably fight that too.

The Article includes half-truths.
1. The Reedy Improvement District is not a tax scam. The Florida Legislature entered into the Reedy Creek Special Act with its eyes wide open. Republicans were as (if not more) welcoming to Disney as were Democrats.
2. The Reedy Creek Improvement District was enacted to benefit Disney and the entire Orlando area. Its enactment was not controversial, and Floridians were more than delighted to have Disney World come to Florida. The few naysayers included the landowners who sold their land as cornfield prices to Disney before it became publicly known to whom they were selling. Disney's purchasing agents cleverly covered their entries into and exits from Florida.
3. The other Improvement Districts that will be affected by this new Act are similar to Reddy Creek only because they are Improvement Districts. The similarities stop there. The scope of powers granted to Disney were then, and remain, unique to Disney.
Disney was loved in Florida until it became woke, which began several years ago, and its trending to wokeness became apparent little by little. Disney went too far when it championed repeal of Florida's new statute to prevent grooming of Florida's young students.

The House Of Mouse has painted itself into a corner-let's see how it likes having to deal with not just one, but two counties, whenever it wants to build a building or attraction or put in a new road. Poke the bear and you get the claws!

Wait until they want to build that next park expansion or build a new hotel.
They know all about how the "State" inserts themselves with how California treats them They wanted to build a new hotel on land that's part of their Downtown Disney area, where the ESPN Zone restaurant closed, but they were denied due to the land use restrictions and the City of Anaheim objecting.

The irony is, the Democrats in these counties will be the first ones demanding a tax increase on Disney once they taste the new money in their water.

The original Improvement District which allowed Disney to build Disney World, has been to great benefit to Florida, which has collected huge sums of sales tax revenues from Disney visitors, allowing Florida to avoid a state income tax.
Sometimes revenge can be counter-productive. I would like to see the Governor and Disney negotiate their way to a settlement short of killing the District.
