Can Biden Buy Votes With Student Debt Relief? The 2020 Democratic presidential primary race was a bidding war in which the various candidates advocated spending trillions of dollars to enact sweeping progressive agendas. Some agendas were a bit more sweeping than others, but they all amounted to unprecedented increases in federal spending. Take the issue of student loans. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the most progressive of the contenders, wanted to cancel all $1.6 trillion in student debt — just throw out all student loans for 40-plus million people and somehow make Wall Street pay for it. Sen. Elizabeth Warren pledged to forgive everyone's student loans up to $50,000.

No, but he can continue the total destruction of the country, which is his only goal.

I want to know if the little snowflakes will have to pay income tax on the “forgiven debt”. And since the rest of us (through the taxes we pay) are actually paying for this, how much can we deduct on our income tax bill?

He might try to.
He has already started squandering America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve -which I understand is an Emergency reserve, for when we REALLY need it- to try to coax gas prices down a few cents, to buy votes for the mid-terms, with terrible long-term results to follow later.
But I would not be surprised if the evil old fool DID try it.
Everything this administration -the HairSniffer and his Handlers- has done, since Day One, has been to Weaken and Destroy the America that we grew up in and which we love. It's not incompetence. If they were simply incompetent, they would get something right, once in a while, out of sheer dumb luck. But no, everything -Every. Single. Thing.- that they have done has been something that has terrible long-term consequences for America.
These people are EVIL. Period.

I doubt it. The grifters who are reneging on their student loans are already solidly in the Democrat camp.

Most of the deep-debt students and graduates who will get the windfall are already brainwashed Democrat voters, anyway. Everyone else just gets one more thing to be p-d off about.

We must never forget the names of those pushing these fallacious programs on us. They must be held accountable for the physical and financial ruin they are causing this once great country.

Won't matter... the target audience is busy doing things that day... can't get around to it. And 4:20 is booked. Dude, if the check has already cleared, like... why do I have to put down the bon-bons?

I paid for my 4-yr college education coming out without owing one penny. Why the hell should I have to pay for these cupcakes?

This could back fire. If what I read about the proposal is correct, it would only apply to 400000 Americans who have a history of working for 10 years in Federal jobs (and I believe also for nonprofit organizations), and have made 10 years of on time payments. If this is the case others that have struggled with the loan debt but don’t qualify will not benefit and will be stuck with the debt like the rest of it. This will not fly and it will be deemed unfair and thus will soon become an unpopular move by the president. To be successful in his attempt to buy votes he will have to apply this across the board and wipe out everyone’s debt. It will have to be all or nothing to get the vote of those whose vote is for sale.

I suspect that if the loans are forgiven, the backlash from the taxpayers, many of whom have already paid back their loans, would be huge.

He doesn't need to buy votes...they already have Dominion, mail in ballots, box stuffers, and cheats in counting centers...it doesn't matter who you vote for, what matters is who counts the votes...hopefully there will be no repeat of the boondoggole of the the 2020 election...hopefully...but, better have a ton of GOP poll watchers out there..

Yeah, AOC will love this. Look at all the money she will have to buy $700 a pair shoes or $2,000 designer outfits.

Good way to p-ss off everyone who actually paid for their own education either by paying back their loans or working their way through college.

Aside from my remark about AOC, we need to take a serious look at why the cost of higher education is so criminally expensive. The chancellors of some of the state universities are making in excess of one million dollars a year, have private planes and live in expensive homes on campus. Professors make a ton of money and have students doing Their packed lectures halls, or on-line classes. It is a racket. NOt to mention the text book rip-off's.

If what #12 says is correct, the google one-liner headline will not tell the lo-fo s that virtually nobody's debt will be forgiven. It's an attempt to get out the vote however.

Man, this puts me in a bad mood. I put up a munch of bunny last year to pay off my bachelors so I don't have to carry the payment into retirement, and now they want to let some punks skate? Something stinks. I think it's my empty savings account festering.

This is why it's called a loan, you sign on the dotted line and agree to pay it back. This is how it works. The snowflakes need to learn that. I have taken many loans during my life, house, car, things of that nature, and I paid them back. Put on your adult pants children and grow up.

He owes them so much. I hope they take the money (really, I don't, but. . .) and still vote him out.
